of color?rom red color which increases enthusiasm, encourages action and confidence the color of Batangas Province has change into quite colors – pink combined with blue

and white colors which are calming, pure, soft and gentle.

Our new shades may not as stimulating as the previous, not as fearless and bold which Batangueños are known, but it correlates to this year’s STCAA theme; Calabarzon leads in promoting peace through sports.

It is always resonates during the opening of every sports competition; it’s not the winning which matters but how well we fight in every game. How we disciplined ourselves. It’s not always the medals that counts but how many friendship we won. Similar to how our players should behave in every game, who control emotions and paining words during the height of conflicting situation.

It is what Batangas Province wants to win over, that its delegations are upholding the right behavior during the conduct of STCAA 2013. These are the values our new colors convey.

Pink provides feelings of caring, tenderness, love and acceptance, blue expresses a cool vibration that is helpful to communication, calm and relaxing to counteract chaos or agitation, while white expresses kindness.

We are mislead if we said that the color combination we are using this year is not appropriate to use in sports competition because a person in physical battle needs a strong character, bold and brave which represent only by strong and dominating colors. Let us remember that pink is a combination of red and white and though it has calming effect, researchers of color psychology have found that this effect only occurs during the initial exposure but a person often become even more agitated once become accustomed to the color, while blue allows a person to look beyond and increase perspective which is needed for winning any battle or competition.

Nevertheless, at the end, it is not the colors which will make our winnings but our players with burning desire to bring the gold in our province. Like balloons of different colors with ability to float in the air, it is not the colors which make it float but because of what is inside of it.

Batangas “Saludo” simplicity at its best

t only takes less than two minutes to capture the impression of the crowd reflected in their natural and

spontaneous applaud for Batangas Province, when its athletes beautifully demonstrated its “Saludo” after the whistle blew.

Batangas Province although was not yet declared as winner in Best Saludo 2013 but seems having it, after they perfectly displayed its salute in harmony before the thousand spectators in the opening of STCAA 2013 at Cavite State University, Indang Cavite, February 17.

Asec.Umali’s Wisdom

he assertion of Atty. Tonisito M.C. Umali, Asst. Secretary of Legislative and Legal Affairs, in his speech at STCAA opening rites brought a strong influence and views in Sports. Thus, his conviction is rightly commendable and his wit is certainly splendid.

Asec. Umali made a strong point on the concepts of the true essence of sports such as; augment the teamwork, give focus while playing, value discipline within oneself and know how to stand after a defeat.

He shared a perfect example on how the Armed Forces of the Philippines promotes peace in Mindanao for they didn’t use armaments instead they played with our Muslim-brothers. This statement influenced the spectators on their views on insurgency.

He likewise mentioned that every individual could be a part of promoting Peace through Sports. Consequently, his assertion on having self-discipline is the ‘sine qua non’ in facing struggles and in fighting for life.

His viewpoint serves as an eye opener that the True Champion in sports starts with personal discipline.

On that stand point, we can really promote peace and make a difference.

Asst. Sec Umali commends CALABARZON in promoting peace through sports

“AAssistant Secretary of Legislative and Legal Affairs reiterated that the members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines in Mindanao instead of holding their guns and tanks played sport in our Muslim brothers in Mindanao. “Tayo po ay tuwang-tuwa na ang Calabarzon po ay nangunguna sa larangang ito”, Assist Secretary Umali expressed.

DepEd Secretary Armin Luistro, through Asec Umali, conveyed his message to remind the athletes that winning the game and having the gold medals are not important than the concept of teamwork, concept of focus , concept of discipline and the ability of getting up after falling down.

According to the Secretary, expressed by Asec Umali, those are the characters and values to remember and retain in the hearts to be used in real life.

Asst. Sec Umali ended as he reminds the athletes not to play only for themselves, school or province but they should play for the DepEd and for the country.

Present in the occasion were Governor Joseph “ER” Ejercito Estrada, Governor of Laguna Province; Vice Governor Mark Leviste of Batangas and Mayor Bienvenido Dimero, Municipal Mayor of Indang Cavite.

He mentioned that our government through the effort of Pres. Aquino signed the historic agreement with the Bangsa Moro and Moro Islamic Liberation Front in hope that peace in Mindanao will be achieved.

in athletics for Batangas Province when he posted 4:34:00 min on the clock to dominate the 1500 meter run of STCAA Elementary Boys against Rizal and Laguna trackers at Sports Plaza, Dasmariñas, Cavite.

Meanwhile, Jomari Salomon of Fermin Laroza National High School beat his record (1.65 m) but settled only in bronze as he leaped 1.70 m of Secondary Boys High Jump inferior to the jumpers of Laguna and Cavite Province.

delivers his first goldhristian Dimaculangan delivered his first gold for the Batangas Province when he broke his division record (2:27:78 min) and finished

his favorite 200 m backstroke (2:17:18 min) ahead his rivals in the STCAA Swimming Secondary Boys at Blumen Resort, Dasmarinas, Cavite, February 18.

Last year’s Palarong Pambansa delegate, Dimaculangan reeled the 200 m pool a fraction ahead Christen Mercado (2:23:34 min) of Cavite Province followed by Anthony Lim Navarro (2:23:48 min) from Rizal Province in the third.

“Nakatulong po ang Sports Academy at ang suporta sa amin ni Gov. Vilma. Kumpleto po kami sa pagkain at vitamins,” expressed fourth year high school Dimaculangan. “

Dimaculangan of St. Bridget College also clinched the second spot for the silver of the 200 m Individual Medley against Jose Mari Sebastian Arcilla from Rizal.

“In his present condition, we are positive that Christian will deliver more gold medals tomorrow,”

and Secondary girls respectively at Sports Plaza, Dasmariñas Cavite, February 17.

First timer Mangana threw the iron ball at 8.27 m, a speck lower than Dasmariñas thrower with 8.68 meter mark.

he cheered and witnessed the winning moment of Batangas Blades as they shattered Cavite Patriots, 17-25, 25-22, 25-14, in the Elimination Round of Volleyball Elementary Girls Division held at Cavite state University open court, Indang Cavite, February 18.

The first set served as a warm-up game for the Blades for they were smashed out by the Patriots, 17-25.

“Para kasing Diesel ang mga iyan eh, kailangan mag-init ng husto para lumabas ang tunay na lakas. Pero, kampante ako na kakayanin nilang manalo dahil magagaling sila.” explained Melchora Elarmo, the Blades’ trainer.

On the second set the blades were on its higher level of animal spirits, where their offense and defense were undoubtedly on its peak.

Giselle Garcia and Jeansa Agelion of the Blades each landed thunderous spikes while Mila Del Rosario and Rozette Lumbrez of the Patriots lead a commendable defense and strategic offense which made the spectators overjoyed and thrilled for the scores were in see-saw mode until it reached 10-all.

Zara Delos Reyes blocked Lumbrez to even up things at 12-all. Rica Pino provided the margin over the Blades side but Princess Joy Olan netted her serve for a 13-all mark.

Garcia broke an equalized score at 15-all with a powerful spike off the opponent’s block for an advantage. Atienza’s stroke increased the margin to 22-20.

The Patriots tried to boost their offense but Atienza hit two consecutive big smashes for the win, 25-22.“Nawawala sila minsan sa focus at nawala ang style nila sa hulog at ibang epektus.” said Benita Ebora, the Blades’ coach.

On the third set, Agelion made the first line in the score board that brought the team more confident of winning. Their teamwork inside the court is unbreakable that strengthened their continual offense which marked 14-5 on the first half.

Because of continuous great service of Ericka Villanueva, the Blades maintained their momentum with 11-point advantage 20-9.

Garcia as tossed by Atienza provided breath with two big spikes that marked 24-14. Agelion hammered a cannon-shot which easily closed the set for the Blades, 25-14.

“I want to pat on the back the Blades for this victory. I think they had a great game. Sana Magtuloy-tuloy ang panalo ng Team.” Mr. Leo Landicho, Division Sports Coordinator, said.

The Blades also overpowered San Pablo Lakers that marked their second victory for this day.

Meanwhile, The Batangan Spikers took their first win as they thwarted the defending champion, Antipolo Wallopers, in Secondary-Boys Division.

fifth game of the elimination round at Cavite State University Open-court.The Trio leaned on the round-horse ball

setting techniques, sporadic kicks and rolling head smashes to prove that Batangas owned the crown in STCAA in two consecutive years. “Squad underwent thorough preparation and rigid training during the Sports Academy upang mapantayan ang mga dating mananalo natin, kaya kampate ako na magdadala ulit kami ng ginto.” said their trainer, Arnold Escalona. Thus, the description of each job is beyond ethical and professional standards. Finance committee assures the availability of funds and immediately responses as the need arises. Marketing committee customarily guarantees fresh and quality foods to be served for the athletes. Stock and Distribution Committee assures that the stock of foods are within easy reach, manages proper storage and refrigeration, and accounts systematic distribution of ingredients, vegetables and condiments for every viand. Packaging Committee makes certain that the delegates are able to get hold of their meals and snacks in order. Table-Monitoring Committee diffidently observes the Prayers before and after meals and austerely supervises the ‘Clean as You Go’ mode of table manner.

It is proven that there is a perfect discipline on this scheme for its foundation starts on its grass’ roots. A radiating salutation to DepEd Batangas.

Cavite State University Open-court, that made them qualify for the cross over game vying to qualify in Quarter Final Round.

The Regu downed Cavite City and Antipolo City yesterday both in 2-0 wins with superb performances that brought them to be the crowd’s favourite.

The Regu showed off acrobatic flashing kicking moves, thunderous head smashes and fantastic servicing styles that stirred up the spectators’ support for them.

“Proud ako sa performance ng mga bata.

BTinutukan talaga naming bumalik sa basic for mastery, lalo na ang discipline at focus sa paglalaro.” said the trainer, Jubert C. Mortel.

They shall compete with Rizal Trio in a Do-or-Die game tomorrow, February 20, to strive for quarter finals.

The spectators displayed their roaring cheers when Cherry Mae Calago showed off her lightning hit for a home run which marked another 3 points on the scoreboard. De Sagun completed the 7-run rule after hitting the ball and gave a chance for Janelle Cabrera to advance for a home.

During the top of the second set, the Hitters took a hard-earned 2 points while the Hitters added 4-easy scores to have an 11-2 standing.

The trail of winning was heightened up by educators from Batangas showing their support to the Batters.

After the Top and Bottom of the Third Sets, with 14-3 standing, the Batters had a Play-0 chance for a win on top of the fourth inning.

Encarnacion was so determined to use her eagle landing pitch that ousted the three hitters on the ground. Thus, the Batters had a chance for another match for Gold.

“Napakaganda ng laro nila ngayon. Kailangan talaga sa kanila ang may konting gulat para magkaroon ng focus.” said their coach, Pedro De Sagun.

Batangas duo inches forward the final

ebruary 19—After having an impressive performance against Tayabas, Batangas duo, Renz Lenard Fabila and Samuel Gabriel Dionaldo inched forward the final match as they pinned down Llaytan Hizon and

Michael Jan Fuentez of Antipolo to 3 against 8 of their STCAA Tennis Elementary Boy’s Double elimination match at Tennis Club Court, Tanza, Cavite.

Acclimatizing in the court, Dionaldo didn’t show off early committing errors in the first game all through the second while Fabila positively defended their post to level at 1 notch to 1.

“Kinabahan ako kasi hindi nga sila agad nakapag adjust, sinabi naman talaga ni Dionaldo na matagal bago siya nag-init,” Coach Annalyn Jusi expressed.

Duo’s coordination came alive as Fabila poured accurate services supported by Dionaldo’s defense near the net leaving their nemeses to gasp at 3 deficits.

F Dionaldo of Malvar Central School plays tennis since grade 3 and represented the province in the last year’s STCAA while Fabila of Mabini Central School is a neophyte and a first timer in STCAA.

Antipolo’s smashers tried to recover in the 6th but Batangas duo never failed giving in their defensive play and sneaky placing while the boys from the province of pilgrims failed to connect and rest disappointed in the 7th game.

Antipolo recovered as Fabila, a teacher’s son seems to give the 8th to Antipolo with his erratic reception and service, but Fuentez of Antipolo committed double fault halting the toe-to-toe 9th game in favor of Batangas duo all the way to the 10th until it was over.

“Our players are good and performed well we only hope magtuloy-tuloy until the final match,” said trainer Rodney Landicho.
