Texas Constitutions 1824-1876

What distinguishes Texas from other states is its unique history as an

entitymdasha state a republic a nationmdashand the documents that actually

created what became the Texas we know today

Between the years of 1824 and 1876 Texas was at times a part of the

United States of Mexico an independent republic a state within the

Confederate States of America and a state within the United States of

America Beginning in 1824 what we now know as Texas passed through

many iterationsmdasheach with founding documents that can be accessed on

this site These founding documents legally established the entity of

Texas set forth the rights and responsibilities of its people and defined

the scope and powers of its government This database of Texas

Students will conduct five experiments through stations to compare

theoretical and experimental probability The class data will be combined

to compare with previously established theoretical probability

Adding It All Up (Interior Angles)

In this lesson students draw various polygons and investigate their

interior angles The investigation is done using both an interactive tool

and paper and pencil to foster an understanding of how different patterns

can lead to the same solution After comparing results with a partner

students develop a formula showing the relationship between the number

of sides of a polygon and the sum of the interior angles

Students learn about ratios including the ldquoGolden Ratiordquo a ratio of

length to width that can be found in art architecture and nature

In this lesson students classify polygons according to

more than one property at a time In the context of

a game students move from a simple description of

shapes to an analysis of how properties are related

diagonals of rectangles Using measurement students will discover a
