LA NUCIA SUPER mARkET GOES INTO LIqUIDATION

Expats living in the Marina Baja area rely on the La Nucía supermarket for international produce, fresh daily goods and even to sit and enjoy Coffe or a beer with some great snacks and cakes from their bakery counter. The supermarket is run by the Mendoza brothers and was set up in 1980 by the brothers Enrique and Juan Bautista Mendoza. For 30 years the supermarket has provided employment for up to 70 people, but an acrimonious split in the family has led to the business going into liquidation. The locals hope that a suitable buyer will be found and keep this favourite local store alive with the fantastic choice of local and imports goods.

RYANAIR CUTS ExTRA CHARGES

BUDGET airline ryanair has been sentenced by a mercantile court in Madrid to eliminate eight conditions for passengers that were considered abusive. In a press release issued on Friday, ryanair announced some improvements to their customer service, which it said will be applicable until March 6, 2014.Main improvements include a serious reduction of the ticket printing fee (from €70 to €15) and the allowance of a small handbag or a duty free bag in addition to cabin luggage. Some of the announced improvements coincide with the ruling handed down by the Madrid court. However the airline has already announced it will appeal the sentence and so will continue to be allowed to apply them until this is resolved.

THE GOOD NEWS:Cabin crew of ryanair are hoping to raise over €100,000 for Teenage Cancer Trust in the UK through sales of their 2014 charity calendar that was launched yesterday (Thursday).Thirteen hostesses have posed in bikinis at Crete for the calender that was presented to the public at the Grosvenor Hotel in London.A record 400 charity organisations had requested to be the recipients of the funds raised. The calender can now be purchased on ryanair flights and via its website for €10 - that go entirely to Teenage Cancer Trust.Among other things, funds will go towards the maintenance of 27 oncology units specialised in younger patients in UK hospitals.

Ex PATS DON'T LOSE YOUR Uk PENSION OR BENEFIT PAYmENTSEXPATS in receipt of UK pensions and benefits may soon be contacted by the Department of Work & Pensions to confirm their international bank details. Many have already received and sent back forms regarding this matter. From January 31, 2014, the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) will need an International Bank Account Number (IBAN) and Bank Identification Code (BIC) in order to make payments to expat riates' accounts in Spain and other Eurozone countries. This change is due to new European Union regulations which aim to make payments between EU countries faster and more secure. The DWP already holds these details for most of its customers, but expatriates whose details are not yet

held will soon receive a letter asking for them.Bank customers will not be asked to provide any further details of their accounts, such as passwords. If you receive a letter, you should complete the enclosed form and return it to the DWP as soon as possible, says the British Embassy in Madrid. If you fail to return the form your payments could be stopped. As from January 31, 2014, banks in Eurozone countries will not accept any DWP direct payments without these details. You can get them from your bank account statement or directly from your bank.Expatriates only need to provide additional bank details if they receive payments into a Eurozone

account outside the United Kingdom and have received a letter from the DWP.The changes to the system do not affect those whose pension or benefit is paid into a UK account as they are unaffected by this change in EU regulations.Officials from the Department for Work and Pensions are also reminding customers who have changed address, and who have yet to inform the DWP, to contact the International Pension Centre in Newcastle-upon-Tyne on 0044 191 218 7777 in order to make sure their details are up to date. For more information about the change to European bank account numbers, visit the European Commission website at www.ec.europa.eu/internal_market/payments/sepa/index_en.htm

GIBrALTAr'S CHIEF MINISTEr IS UrGING THE UK nOt tO AbAndOn tHE rOck iF it LEAvEs tHE EurOPEAn uniOn in 2017

Chief Minister Fabian Picardo is worried leaving the EU could harm Gibraltar's economy as Spain and other European countries could impose heavy import and export tariffs on goods moving across the border. He pleaded with Britain to make sure the rock's residents have a voice in the debate on EU membership, and called on the main parties to guarantee Gibraltarians get a vote in a referendum. In a wide-ranging interview with the Express Online, Mr Picardo also backed calls made in Westminster yesterday to award the the George Cross to Gibraltar in recognition of its loyalty to the Crown and its vital role in the Second World War.The Chief Minister also hit out at Spain's "abusive and illegal" border checks it had carried out this summer, and said there will be no negotiation over the controversial artificial reef Gibraltar has built off its coast.Mr Picardo said: "Membership of the European Union is important to Gibraltar. "We are the only part of the UK member state which is within continental Europe and of course while for the United

Kingdom some issues might not be as relevant, such as the freedom of movement of people, it is a very important issue for Gibraltar."The freedom to provide services is an important issue for Gibraltar so we are looking to have an opportunity to form part of the debate on Europe, to hear the argument that's made by each of the parties that defends a particular point of view and have a vote."We vote in European Parliament elections, so there's no reason why we shouldn't vote in any other plebiscite that deals with membership, or the shape of membership, of the European Union."Certainly I think if you did a straw poll in Gibraltar you would find there would be majority support for David Cameron's view that the relationship with Europe is an important one, and membership of the European Union is beneficial, but the terms of membership are something that needs to be looked at more closely and what the EU does is something that requires better calibration. "That is likely to be the majority view in Gibraltar."

EUROCHANGE, A SOLIDARITY TEAm

Yesterday, the 30th of November 2013, the Eurochange team made a delivery in our flagship

(Eurochange located in Juan Fuster Zaragoza 1) to Keira Marilyn, a cheque donation of €1000 to help her and her family in the expensive treatment that she needs to receive in the US in the up coming weeks. It was a fantastic opportunity to meet Keira in person and knowing more about her case and treatment. Her mother Deborah, was telling us about her case: she was starved of oxygen due to placental abruption and was non responsive until they finally found a heartbeat after 15 minutes of CPr and two shots of

adrenaline, she was then admitted to ICU where she remained for 5 weeks and in this time was diagnosed with severe brain damage (spastic quadriplegic cerebral palsy) and epilepsy. Thanks to the determination of her parents and the fighting character of the girl, her status has been improving with the therapies that have been submitted. However, they are not enough and needs an expensive treatment of hyperbaric oxygen (HBO) that fortunately can be received in a specialized

clinic in Guadalajara (up to now they had to travel to the US to receive it). The donation of the employees of Eurochange will go to help in the treatment and thanks to her page on Facebookhttps://www.facebook.com/Therapyforkeirawe can know and be updated on her progress.Eurochange employees participated for several years on a voluntary basis in Teaming. Teaming is an online platform of crowdfunding to social causes. This means that among everyone, donating very little can get large sums. In Eurochange what we do is donate €1 of our monthly wage to Teaming and when we

have an appropriate amount we break the “teaming piggy bank" and decide on which social cause. The intention of the entire team is to continue working with Teaming in order to help other people and children who really need it and “with a small gesture come big smiles".

Holiday makers and locals will have a fantastic time during the next week and will see temperatures of up to 30 degrees.. The weather is absolutely glorious, last night the temperature didn't drop below 20 this is absolutely amazing for this time of year and perfect for the fiesta celebrations.

A full day out yesterday in the busy Cocentaina. All Saints Day at the Cocentaina Fayre. "Fira de Tots Sants". There were hundreds of interesting stalls, Bonsai, pottery, metal work, soaps, dried fish, cheeses of all shapes and sizes & meats - as you can see there was certainly variety. The centre square was, as usual, full of food to tempt our palates. This photo shows just one of the town's street adorned together with the pretty mountain backdrop. The next General Meeting is on 25 November at the Albir Social Centre. The speaker will be our own member Dee Middlekoop who will be talking to us about her hobby "Orchids". Shaun has been performing now for 15 years in Benidorm, he first came to Benidorm because of his manager who convinced him to improve and enhance his Career seeing him perform in Sunderland and all over the UK Joe Foster became his role model and mentor and has been a major part of Shaun life. Joe Foster with a wealth of experience in show biz that included bringing the big names to the UK that included Jonny Cash and the Drifters. The name Foster was adopted into Shaun's name.Shaun explained that "Coming to Benidorm was a bit of a culture shock and completely different environment performing to holiday makers."Stardust and The Talk of the Town were the first venues where Shaun performed and for a number of years before he moved to Morgans Tavern. recently Shaun was performing in the Benidorm TV series making history to be the only singing artist to perform under his own name as himself in a hit TV series. He stared in series 3 & 4 and performed a total of 9 songs. The 40-year-old father of two explains: "Derren wrote me in to the show as myself. He had been to see me perform I didn't know it at the time - and he fell in love with my voice, particularly an Al Martino song that I do called Here in My Heart. He wrote a whole storyline around me when Madge thinks Im Tom Jones singing at

Neptunes Bar."I asked Shaun did it make a difference to you after appearing in the TV show he said "Its nice when people stop you in the street - that comes with the territory, but I haven't changed as a person. Im still the same person I used to be.Working the ship yards in the north east Shauns early working years gave him a solid grounding and focused outlook on life. “The unfriendliest place I have ever been too!”Reviewed October 5, 2013When we got there we asked the waiter for a table, he just looked at us & walked away! Another saw him so she led us to a table, it was then rush rush, rushed into ordering everything then when it came she had messed up the order & didn’t bring half of it! what she did bring was terrible. She was very unhelpful & pretty rude, we didn’t even finish our food as we couldn’t wait to get out of “Fabulous restaurant”Reviewed August 3, 2013Loved this place so much visited three times loved Albir beautiful place we were a party of Ten and the staff were lovely food fabulous and just a great place x“Quality food and service”Reviewed July 24, 2013This is only my second review ever....the staff and food were excellent.

“Food average. Play area for kids ridiculous”Reviewed July 8, 2013 via mobilewe have just come back from albir, we ate in this bar twice first time we got in there ordered for 2 main meals and a kids meal. my partners and my sons arrived and it was another 10 -15 mins till i got mine which i think is shocking service. Also they have a toddlers play area which at first glance looks brilliant, when i actually went in there with my son i was surprised to see that most if not all the toys were broken there was a wendy house in the corner which wasnt broken however id say dont let your kids play inside as there were toddlers inside and spanish kids that looked about 11-14 playing in the play area and climbing and jumping on the roof of the wendy house .. not one of the waiters or parents told them and the same kids were there both times we ate there i think they were regulars there service was average and english speaking was good hope this helps

“The best”Reviewed October 15, 2013Went to Duetto on 4/10/2012,having booked our table the night before with the owner. We were welcomed and shown to our table asked if we would like a drink and offered the menu. The owner came to see us and ask if we were alright and could she do anything for us ,i told her it was my wifes birthday and we were celebrating it at this restaurant, she wished my wife a happy birthday and said to me that she would do a little something. W e ordered a bottle of wine, iordered a pizza with extra toppings, my wife ordered the black irish sirloin steak. The meals were to die for, the pizza was huge and just how i wanted it, the steak was the best my wife had ever had ,again huge portions. The owner then presented a portion of Tiramasu with candle for my wife which was a very nice touch, well done Duetto you are the best keep it up

“Such a special place and made to feel very special!!!”Reviewed September 29, 2013 via mobileThe staff here are amazing. Very attentative, efficient and happy. From the minute my husband and I walked in having pre booked our table we were made to feel as though we were the only people there although it was busy. They suggested a lovely pinot grigio rose to accompany our meal. Starter consisted of pork ribs, potatoes and salad which were to die for. Main was lasagne, amazing and spag bol, very tasty with the garlic bread. To top off the night the waiters brought out a birthday cake and candles for my husbands birthday. 1 shared starter was enough as we chose it off the grill main menu. For 1 starter, 2 mains, 1garlic bread, 1 dessert and 2 bottles of wine the cost was approx €57 which was fantastic for the experience. Just wish we would have spotted this place sooner in the holiday so we cpuld have sampled more pasta dishes. The grill menu was also amazing. Pizzas done in the clay oven looked to die for. A huge thanks to all of the staff making this a very memorable experience. Please go you will not be disappointed, do pre book as it is very popular.

“Fantastic food, the rest average”Reviewed October 22, 2013I’ve rated this restaurant average, but this doesn’t have anything to do with the quality of the food. The food was fantastic and we even went twice while in Benidorm. The average rating is because when we ordered our food we wanted a salad for a starter and the manager failed to tell us that these were huge and came on what I can only describe as a serving platter........we didn’t eat it all. We also had to leave some of our main course due to the volume of food. Some wastage is expected, but not that much. The restaurant also needs to sort it’s lighting out outside. We couldn’t see our menus and had to read them via torches on our phones. I can’t fault the food and they did give us very good service when one of our party’s food was cold. They took it away and it came back piping hot and they offered us free Tiramisu, but after all that food no one wanted it.

“Ideal after a stroll along the Levante beach”Reviewed September 30, 2013Brilliant place to have lunch or evening meal or if you want, just a drink and watch the passers by. Good friendly service. The food lovely and good value for money. often came here during our time in Benidorm. Recommend the spaghetti Carbonara.

“Great location”Reviewed September 28, 2013I have not tried all of the food available but here is my opinion of what I have. Various pizzas...all very good. Various salads.... varying from poor to okay. Pasta dishes taste okay. excepting the macaroni pasta bake which is delicious but all lack any garnish whatsoever, The steak with pepper sauce is, quite frankly, disgusting the pepper sauce tasting overwhelmingly of cheese and the quality of the beef is low. The service is very good, the dining tables are widely spaced and the location is great. Overall, the good outweighs the bad and I shall continue to eat here probably just the pizza and pasta bake though....Drinks are reasonably priced.

The live music and entertainment nor-mally goes on until 4am each morning and then for a few hours there is calm before the fireworks wake everyone up and the party starts all over. Many British and other nationalities who have businesses in the area of the Old Town in Benidorm close up or rent out there premises for these celebrations. The many people in the Old Town cel-ebrating are mainly Spanish with British visitors and tourists coming to the area to see the celebrations. The British pubs and bars will put on their own fiestas and enjoy the celebrations with addi-tional visitors to entertain and make a party of their own.The British area of the new town will be buzzing with thousands of people who have been coming for years and what has now become the highlight of the annual calendar event the most famous and biggest street party in Europe. The many bars and pubs in the new town end with be jammed packed with fiesta party goers. The streets and the British square are decorated with British

flags buntings and balloons. The history of how the British Fiestas started is a little disputed but I have had the opportunity to find out more and talk to some of the most knowledgea-ble people that have been involved over from the beginning. The funny thing is that the guys behind bringing the Fiesta Party to the new town are all Spanish. My first stop was to meet with Manolo Nieto a partner in the very well-known bar and entertainment group “A Touch Of Class”, the group own SINATrAS in the English Square, also own Jokers, Chaplin’s, red Dog Bar and Tropical Bar in the rincon area. Manolo told me that in 1992 Sinatra’s was opened and the partners decided to make a Fiesta in the English square, the idea was fancy dress and a big par-ty offering prizes for the best dressed and free drinks for anyone who came in a costume. Now the annual event has grown to an incredible size attracting thousands of visitors from all over the UK and Europe.

The NewcasTle spaNgeleTTes easTer draw resulTs 1sT prize doNaTed by siNaTra's beNidorm raised £1560Each year Sinatras have put on the main show and have had some amazing dis-plays last year was a real live bear literally standing up in the middle of the crowd in the square. In the past there were other animal displays with Camels, Bulls and horses. No one is told prior to the day it is a surprise! Sinatras pledge a free holiday to Benidorm with flights and accommodation last year’s winners the Newcastle Spanglettes organized a raffle donating the free holi-day as the first prize along with many other prizes. The raffle raised money for one

of their members Brenda Crossley who was taken ill during Fiestas last year.

Another iconic bar owner Paco Carasco who is known for his famous group of British Pubs called the vINCENTS CORNER PUBS.Paco told me when he was 26 years old he was

the manager of the first British Pub in the Old Town Benidorm called VINCENTS. The Old Town has always been the traditional place for the annual Fiesta celebrations so for the Brits Paco had started the celebrations at VINCENTS Pub providing entertainment with live music. The British Fiesta party grew more and more popular and year after year many of the same people came back. So the history of the British

event was started in the Old Town at Vincents Pub. Tad the owner of the Yorkshire Pride Pubs started in 1994 he told us that the Wooky Hollow was the original Benidorm Fiesta Party and it was so busy he had a full bar with the over spill of customers. Tad said it just got busier and busier each year it was just amazing how fast this event grew and has continued ever since. Now the party is so popular it is hard to find accommodation, hotels are full and flights are booked as soon as they are available online.

shOpping & styleWhat's sexy Without being sleazy?Adding unexpected touches (a wrapped shirt, a grand exit) and glamorous essentials (red lips, shades). It’s about dressing in fabrics that feel great against your skin. And it’s about choosing more original ways to express your sensuality than by merely donning a micromini. Our get-sexy looks work for any age or budget: some are after-dark only (shoulder-duster earrings), while

others can work for daytime (touchable fabrics, hats). Here’s how to add sizzle to your look without sacrificing

your modesty.1. WEAR SOMETHING

ORDINARY IN AN UNEXPECTED WAY.It doesn’t have to be a huge statement like wearing a jacket backwards; subtle alterations pack the chicest punch. For example, take

a basic man’s white shirt (slightly oversized), unbutton it, wrap it so that one side overlaps the over and tuck in.)

2. DO RED LIPSTICk.Pale lips may be trendy, but nothing does the job like red. Use lipliner for a perfect appearance, choose a creamy matte in a red that best suits your skin tone (blue-reds for darker skin tones; orangey hues for olive; true reds for blondes). Use a light hand for the rest of the face because the lips should take center stage.3. ADD A HAT.Nothing attracts attention quite like a hat. First, it takes guts to wear one. Second, it takes panache to carry it off. Combine the two qualities and you get major appeal. Stay with classic shapes -- the fedora, the beret -- to make it easier to pull off.4. ACCESSORIzE WITH SHOULDER-DUSTER EARRINGS.Skip every other piece of jewelry, pull your hair back and make sure your makeup stays soft. This look goes great with bare shoulders and updos, too. Definitely an after-dark look.5. MAkE IT METALLIC.Black may be chic, but gold, silver, copper and pewter are especially luminous when you’re going for vavoom. Look for simple shapes (the story here is the fabric and color, not the line of the outfit) and tones that flatter your skin color. Pass on major jewelry and makeup to let the dress really shine.

6. ADOPT AN EXOTIC LOOk.The cheongsam is a classic example of a dress with international allure. Harem pants, sarongs and embroidered items are all borrowed ethnic looks with tons of feminine charm. The mandarin-collar dress from China is flattering, chic and always intriguing.7. WEAR SHADES.Perhaps the single sexiest item you can own are a great pair of sunglasses. They add tons of mystery, look cute even on top of your head and actually serve the practical purpose of protecting your eyes.8. MAkE A GRAND EXIT.Sexy is all about surprises, so a deceptively simple dress from the front can be a showstopper in the back. Open backs, lace-up backs, great dress trains all make for dramatic effects.9. STAY SOFT WITH TOUCHABLE FABRICS.Forget everything you’ve ever heard about hardcore leathers or sparkly sequins being heat-inducing. Cashmere, silky satin, buttery soft suedes are the real scene-stealers. Touchable fabrics not only invite another’s touch, they have the added bonus of feeling great against your skin so you feel pampered.10. PLAY PEEkABOO.No need to bare your breasts, even with lace. Nude linings, camisoles and slips all keep you covered while the lace itself stays really suggestive.

expresses an aura of strength and beauty and has a dazzling aura of glittering femininity.Glamorous in attitude, confident, intelligent and with a sense of fashion and fun, the fragrance is a modern Fruity Chypre with warm, rich, woody depths. It’s a fragrance inspired by modern women – strong, empowered, beautiful, seductive and alluring with a hidden and mysterious sense of confident sexuality.

10% DISCOUNTA LA CARTE MENU

There was plenty of action in this Weeks Premier League with 21 goals,10 clean sheets,28 yellow cards and 3 red. 2 Sunderland Players Dossena, Cattermole along with Swansea’s Keeper Vorm were the naughty Boys. Kim’s Team Ginger United took over at the top of the Fantasy League by jumping up from 3rd place to the Summit. She has a 6 point advantage over Eric’s Team Gluepot Mahou Men. There is nothing in at the top with only 9 points separating the top 4. At the other end of the Table Kim & rachel’s team El.Nui Baddies are in big trouble and are now falling of the ladder. The Junior League this Year is very Competitive with the in form Abbey’s Brigade piling the pressure on the current Leaders rocky’s Mini Spurs and are now only 2 points away from the Leaders. Different story at the other end of the scale with Ben’s Boys already looking favourites for the big drop. Ginger United have increased their lead at the top of our Mark Carter Ladies Section to a substantial 46 points over Angies Blues.Joanna’s Hup Hannah are 3rd with Ann’s Golden Girls close by.Jin’s Dream Team banged in the highest score in this section with a total of 53 points which means she has qualified for a stake on our Cellar Bar Cert Tip selected by our out of form Tipster Ian Charman. The Golden Boot League sponsored by Leonard Knowles Construction is starting to shape up now the goals are beginning to flow. At the moment Abbey’s Brigade are in a strong position leading Jimmy’s team

Simple by 41 points but things can change with a blink of an eye in this League. Down at the foot of this Table Derek’s team Blackpool Hoteliers have scrambled away and left Joanna’s Capitol Palace in residence. Our Premier Imports Draw at the end of the Month has 3 Teams in the hat this Week and they are the Highest scoring Team Gary’s Blue Moon F.C. who scored 57 points thanks mainly to his beloved Manchester City Players and 2 Teams Wyn’s Wyndham’s Chelski and Dave’s Aptly named No Hopers F.C. who only managed a lowly 1 point. Manager of the Month for November is being kindly sponsored By the Hotel Moli in Alfaz who do a varied selection of Indian Curries at reasonable prices. With only 1 Week gone Gary’s Blue Moon F.C. are just 3 points ahead of Neil’s Blue Moon rising Again. 3 Teams are level in 3rd place and they are Jin’s Dream team, ross’s r.F.C.1873 and Archies Team. Tom’s Team The Engineers Tools have been the Fastest Moving Men’s team this Week by moving up 63 places to No 135 which he has earned himself a super Breakfast for 2 at rafters sponsored by Kate. 28 of our Lady Managers made through to the next round of our K.O.Cup Competition along with 5 of our Junior Managers. The results of all Cup Ties will be up on our website which is www.alfazffl.com or if you can’t access a computer hy not pop into one of our bars which display all the Tables and results on their Notice Boards in Moraira Tich’s Bar, in Albir Hepburns & The Local and in Alfaz the El Nui.

So I went along to sample some of what I had been told was very good value well presented meals, looking at the menu it was hard for me to choose mainly because I love this home style British cuisine. Mix Grill is a favourite of mine but so is ribs or Fish n Chips but what I hadn’t had as a meal for a long time was home made Steak Pie I had it with chips gravy and peas. The plate was full and the pie was defiantly home made. Shortcrust pastry and well filled with a flavoursome gravy I really did enjoy it. The prices were extremely reasonable most meals for under 10€ but also available was a choice of daily specials and steaks. I would always put Wyndhams Eatery on my list of favourites and when I’m in Albir stop by for lunch or dinner. What is also great is that you can walk around the corner only two minutes and find the

beach and promenade ideal for a weekend stroll along to Altea and a healthy way to follow on from a wholesome visit to Wyndhams.Although the venue is quite small there is a sunny terrace on the front and also a pool table and darts board not forgetting the TV screens for all the live matches and sport.Wyn told me “I have now got the business where he wanted it to be, it is nearly a year since taking over the business previously known as the Aussie Bar and a lot of work had to be done to establish the food trade with the confidence that customers would spread the word and come back.”“ We have concentrated on customer service and a friendly environment, with a little redecoration together with our personal approach it has really made a difference.”

HoroscopeYour weeklyIt’s Monday and you’re feeling a little sluggish. You’re lost in your own thoughts and everyone else seems to be lost in their own

thoughts, too. It’s unusual for you to feel so introverted, but it’s nothing to worry about. Later in the week - beginning around Wednesday and continuing into Thursday - your mood is going to change considerably. Friday, you’re going to realize that a ton of people are following your lead and looking to you to make the next move. Being a pioneer is somewhat daunting, but stick to the main trails (especially this weekend).

ARIESYour powers of observation are unmatched, and Monday or Tuesday you’re going to see something that to your mind changes

everything. People are so complicated. Share what you know with a good friend. Get a second opinion. (As perceptive as you are, there’s no sense in rushing to judgment.) On Thursday and Friday, you’re going to feel closer to a certain friend than ever before. There’s a chance you may confide one of your own big secrets. All kinds of things are coming to the surface these days.

GEMINI

Should you stay or should you go? Are you feeling under the weather or on top of the world? Why can’t you figure your own

mood out? Every time you have to make a decision on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, you’re going to be stalled by indecision. That’s why you shouldn’t commit to any long-term plans. Not yet, at least. On Thursday, someone is going to ask a favor of you, and even though you’ll be happy to oblige, it’s going to make you realize you haven’t done a favor for yourself in so long. What are you waiting for? Do something for yourself this weekend!

CANCERThings may not be as they seem on Monday. On the surface, everyone is happy and getting along just fine, but dig a little and

you’ll find a different story. You’re smart enough not to take things at face value. (You’re also smart enough to be on the lookout for anyone who might have a private agenda midweek.) Friday and Saturday, you’re going to be distracted from the giddy whirl that is your social life by a sudden surge in romantic energy. Someone really likes you. And they have some-thing genuine to tell you. Listen.

LEOEven though you don’t flaunt it, you have a pretty analytical mind. You know what’s really going on here. Share your insight on

Monday with a good friend - someone who doesn’t have a stake in this situation, someone you can trust. And listen to what they have to say. (Their perspective is going to be pretty illuminating.) In fact, you’re going to spend Tuesday through Friday listening to what other people have to say. Your family, for instance. (Your best bet? Just go with the flow. Don’t try to argue.) This weekend, you’ll be happily distracted.

VIRGO

Whatever you feel Monday, you’re going to feel it intensely. If something seems deep, it’s going to seem unbelievably profound.

Likewise, if someone says something funny, you’re going to laugh uncon-trollably for what seems like hours. Passions run deep through midweek, and that’s perfectly okay. (Just try not to be too sensitive or moody.) Later in the week, someone is going to want you to commit to a financial deal, but you’re going to feel too tentative about it to sign the dotted line just yet. You have other things on your mind. Take the weekend to think it over.

tAURUS

Monday and Tuesday (and probably the rest of the week, too) are all about business and money. It’s all you’re going to be able to think about. Someone you know might want to start a business

together, or they may have a money-making scheme they want you to be a part of, and even though it all sounds a bit far-fetched, you’re going to at least entertain the idea. The truth is, you’re really good at expressing yourself and getting things done, and maybe this is the kind of leader-ship role you’ve been waiting for. You’re going to continue thinking about your career and your future this weekend.

LIBRAYou’ve been having these crazy dreams lately, and they’re all you can think about Monday. What could they possibly mean? Are they

just bizarre and absurd or is there something to them? (And anyway, your normal life has been feeling a bit absurd lately.) People like hearing about your dreams, and Wednesday and Thursday, someone you know might be in the mood to be entertained by one of your wild stories. This weekend, you and your friends have so much fun just sitting around and talking, who needs to spend money?

SAGIttARIUS

Monday is all about your friends. There’s a chance you may need to call on someone for help, but everyone always calls on you for help, so there’s no need to feel guilty. There is a lot you want to get done

by midweek, and some of it is going to seem impossible. Rest assured, it’s not. When you and your best pals put your heads together, there’s really not very much you can’t do. Persevere and you will prevail. Even this weekend, an unexpected (and positive) outcome is going to prove that the world is aligned in your favor.

CAPRICORNYou were all gung-ho about your career just a couple days ago, but at the start of the week, you’re not so sure. The thing is, you

haven’t really figured out what you want yet, so it’s hard to know if you like what you have. You’re in a good place, but could you be in a better place? Hard to say. Midweek, it’s worth asking a friend you respect (and who is in love with their career) for some advice. On Friday and over the weekend, plan to spend some time with people who have nothing to do with your professional life whatsoever. Take your mind off things. Have some fun.

AQUARIOUSYou’re happy to help people out on Monday, but you’re not exactly thrilled about your suspicion that people are perhaps taking

advantage of you. Is that what’s happening? Or are you just being over-sensitive? Friends they can be so confusing. Just keep your wits about you, and the moment you feel like someone might be taking you for a ride, call them on it, especially Wednesday. (Nothing commands more respect than just being upfront with people.) On Friday or possibly over the weekend, someone you adore is going to ask you for some help, and you’re going to be perfectly happy to do whatever they need.

PISCIS

You can’t help it. You have this aura that people are drawn to. Especially at the start of this week, you’re going to find yourself

surrounded by more friends than you ever realized you had. People are attracted to your energy and your confidence. So, whatever you do mid-week, especially in social situations, be energetic and confident. Don’t be afraid to state your opinions, even if you know other people disagree. (And don’t be shocked if you find some of your own opinions changing somewhat, based on what other people have to say.) You get along well with people. You’re going to be reminded of that all weekend.

arsenal the next biG test for Moyes United boss David Moyes is keep-ing his attentions on the approach-ing clash with Arsenal represents the next huge test of his reign. The prospect of facing Arsene Wenger’s Premier League leaders will be the next major test of the United manger’s short reign at Old Trafford. A run of seven games without de-feat suggests the Premier League champions have finally discovered a level of consistency under the new boss after overcoming a stut-tering start to the campaign. And unlike the games against Chelsea, Liverpool and City at the start of the season, he may now feel he has got his feet under the

table at United. He could be forgiven for taking a tentative approach to those early fixtures after being handed a daunting start to his new job.The 0-0 draw with Chelsea was creditable – the 1-0 defeat to Liv-erpool, disappointing, but under-standable, particularly with Wayne rooney ruled out after suffering a gash to the forehead just the day before the clash at Anfield. The 4-1 defeat to City – albeit without the injured robin van Persie – was the major low point of his United career so far. Against Arsenal he has the chance to go into a game against one of United’s title rivals having had

time to build up a run of form and impose himself on his squad. Victory against Fulham today and then against Sociedad on Tues-day will see United head into that match high on confidence. These are traditionally the games in which United excel. The chance to cut Arsenal down to size after their flying start is ex-actly the type of game in which Sir Alex Ferguson would have revelled. Now is Moyes’ chance to collect a notable win of his own. Should he secure victory against Arsenal, it might not only be the springboard to Untied’s title challenge, but his very career at the club.
