Dead Sea Scrolls
The Dead Sea Scrolls are scrolls that were discovered in eleven caves along
the northwest shore of the Dead Sea between the years 1947 and 1956.
The area is 13 miles east of Jerusalem and is 1300 feet below sea level.
The mostly fragmented texts, are numbered according to the cave that they
came out of.
The Dead Sea Scrolls include the earliest known surviving manuscripts of works
later included in the Hebrew Bible canon, along with extra-biblical manuscripts.
The Canon Of Scripture
The Canon of Scripture refers to the list of books that are officially accepted as "divinely inspired" and thus rightfully belonging in the Bible.
Only the canonical books are considered the authoritative Word of God.
The process of determining the biblical canon was begun by Jewish scholars and rabbis and later finalized by the early Christian church toward the end of the fourth century.
There are more than 40 authors in three languages during a period of 1,500 years that contributed to the books and letters which make up the biblical canon of Scripture.
There are a total of 66 books in the Bible.

The New Testament Books
The Four Gospels
The Four Gospels (Gospel meaning, “Good News”) recount the story
of Jesus Christ, each book giving us a unique perspective on his life.
They were written between A.D. 55-65, with the exception of John's
Gospel, which was written around A.D. 85-95.
The New Testament Books
The Four Gospels
Matthew
Written to Jews who were familiar with Old Testament prophecy. Jewish customs were not explained in this gospel. Matthew often mentioned the Law of Moses.
Mark
Written for the Romans. Mark often explained Jewish words, customs, and places. He used Roman time rather than Hebrew time. And he translated some words into Latin.
Luke
Also the author of The Book Of Acts & both accounts were written to a man named Theophilus, which name meant “One who loves God”
John
This gospel was directed towards Gentiles (non-jews).
The New Testament Books
The Book Of Acts (The Acts of The Apostles)
Written by Luke, The B.O.A provides a detailed, eyewitness account of the birth and
growth of the early church and the spread of the gospel immediately after the
resurrection of Jesus Christ.
It is considered a New Testament history book about the early church.
The book of Acts supplies a bridge connecting the life and ministry of Jesus to the
life of the church and the witness of the earliest believers.
The work also constructs a link between the Gospels and the Epistles.
The New Testament Books
The Epistles (Letters)
The Epistles are letters written to the young up and coming churches and individual
believers in the earliest days of Christianity.
The Apostle Paul wrote the first 13 of these letters, each addressing a specific
situation or problem.
The Apostle Paul's writings constitute about 50 percent of the entire New Testament.
