DO THE TRILLIONS OF BACTERIA LIVING INSIDE YOU HOLD THE KEY TO EVERYTHING FROM THE IMMUNE SYSTEM TO MOOD, FROM ALLERGIES TO WEIGHT LOSS? THE BEGINNERS GUIDE TO PROBIOTICS FruitsMax Let’s find out more about these liIle bugs. What these creatures do for you is mindboggling.

description

This is the most comprehensive introduction to Probiotics, little creatures that have been called by some experts as "internal doctors". What they do for your health is mind-boggling, no matter if you are aware of their existence or not. But as much as the "good" bacteria immensely help your health there are also "bad" microbes that are very harmful to you. There is plenty of information about probiotics. From articles to scientific studies. But who wants to spend hours and hours to finally get confused. That's what many people feel after reading all those publications. Not everyone is a microbiologist to understand the terms so that he/she can connect the dots. Therefore, we felt that there was something missing — a guide that really starts at the beginning to equip people with a healthy balance of basic knowledge and "actionable" strategies that can be implemented right away. The Beginners Guide to Probiotics gives you exactly that.

The  20th  Century  century  was  called  the  century  of  anZbioZcs.

During  the  first  half  of  the  20th  century  humanity  was  waiZng  for  the  discovery  of  something  which  would  lead  to  the  decreasing  of  infecZous  diseases,  the  main  reason  of  widespread  deaths  at  that  Zme.

Finally,  the  English  microbiologist  Dr.  A.  Fleming  discovered  penicillin.  That  became  an  immediate  hit  and  aherwards  more  than  ten  thousand  anZbioZcs  entered  the  market.  They  lay  down  the  path  for  a  new  century  in  medicine  and  biology  –  the  century  of  anZbioZcs.

The  main  perceived  funcZon  of  anZbioZcs  is  to  kill  microorganisms  –  the  “bad  bacteria”  that  causes  infecZons  and  other  life  threaZng  diseases.

But  as  its  name  suggests  anZbioZcs  (translated  as  “against  life”),  was  proven  to  kill  not  only  the  harmful  microbes  but  also  the  “friendly  bacteria”.  The  bacteria  that  strengthens  our  immune  system  and  aids    digesZon,  just  to  menZon  few  among  its  many  benefits.

Now,  humanity  needs  something  that  can  be  used  for  prevenZon  and  treatment  of  different  diseases  without  it  having  strong  side  effects.  And  that  something  is  “ProbioZcs”  –  translated  as  “for  life”,  they  not  only  posses  a  mulZtude  of  posiZve  benefits  but  also  probioZcs  are  very  effecZve  in  fighZng  and  killing  “bad  bacteria”.  Therefore  they  fully  deserve  to  be  called  –  The  Doctors  of  the  21st  Century!

What  are  probioGcs?  ProbioZcs  are  organisms  such  as  bacteria  or  yeast  that  improve  our  health.  They  are  available  in  supplements  and  foods.  The  idea  of  taking  live  bacteria  or  yeast  may  seem  strange  at  first.  Aher  all,  we  take  anZbioZcs  to  fight  bacteria.  But  our  bodies  naturally  teem  with  such  organisms.

How  many?100  Trillion!  Yes  you  heard  it  right…

How  many  types?  The  digesZve  system  is  home  to  more  than  500  different  types  of  bacteria.

Where  are  they? They  live  on  your  skin,  in  your  gut,  up  your  nostril  -‐  and  on  any  body  surface  you  can  think  of.  We  know  what  you  are  thinking...  And  you  are  correct.

History  The  history  of  probioZcs,  or  'good  bacteria',  lies  in  the  1900s  when  probioZcs  were  discovered  by  Russian  scienZst  and  Nobel  Prize  winner,  Elie  Metchnikoff.  He  was  intrigued  as  to  why  certain  inhabitants  of  the  Bulgarian  populaZon  lived  much  longer  than  others.

Discovering  that  villagers  living  in  the  Caucasus  Mountains  were  drinking  a  fermented  yogurt  drink  on  a  daily  basis,  his  studies  found  that  a  probioZc  called  Lactobacillus  bulgaricus  improved  their  health  and  may  have  helped  with  the  longevity  of  their  lives.

Mouth:  Calcified  dental  plaque  from  ancient  skulls  tellsus  that  mouth  microbes  became  less  diverse  as  we  switched  from  varied  hunter-‐gatherer  diets  to  carb-‐heavy  agricultural  ones  –  and  the  bugs  that  thrive  on  sugar  and  starch  lead  to  gum  disease  and  caviZes.  Mouthwash,  which  wipes  out  beneficial  and  halitosis-‐causing  bugs  alike,  could  do  more  harm  than  good.

Lungs:  A  trio  of  bacteria  in  babies’  lungs  is  associatedwith  higher  rates  of  asthma  later  in  life.  Another  study  suggested  that  Helicobacter  pylori,  a  bacteria  that  cause  ulcers  in  the  gut,  may  actually  protect  against  asthma  in  children.

Skin:  The  surface  of  the  skin  is  teeming  with  bacteriaduking  it  out  for  the  privilege  of  living  on  you.  Some  bring  weapons  to  the  fight:  Staphylococcus  epidermidis,  for  instance,  makes  anZ-‐microbial  that  keep  harmful  germs  at  bay.  It  also  interacts  with  immune  system  to  heal  wounds.  Hand  saniZzer,  which  is  used  to  kill  nasZer  skin  microbes,  wipes  out  good  bacteria,  too.

Brain:  Bacteria  may  effect  neurotransmiIers,  too: GermB free  mice  have  higher  brain  levels  of  serotonin,  which  plays  a  role  in  depression.  Indeed,  it’s  thought  that  95%  of  all  the  body’s  serotonin  is  made  in  the  gut.

Gut:  Microbes  in  your  belly  do  everything  from  digesZng fibers  to strengthening  the  immune  system.  Changes  in  gut  bacteria  can  disrupt  hormones,  such  as  insulin,  that  regulate  appeZte  and  energy.  Microbes  from  a  healthy  person,  administrated  via  fecal  transplant,  may  cure  metabolic  problems.  Perhaps  the  most  important  thing  about  our  gut,  which  is  roughly  26  feet  in  length,  hammered  flat  would  cover  the  surface  area  of  a  tennis  court  –  is  the  fact  that  70%  of  our  immune  acZvity  occurs  there.

Vagina:  In  the  birth  canal,  babies  encounter  their  very first  bacteria,  one  of  which  is  Lactobacillus  johnsonii.  This  milkB digesZng  microbe,  only  common  in  the  vaginas  of  pregnant  women,  likely  enables  babies  to  metabolize  breast  milk.  Missing  Lactobacillus  j.  and  other  vaginal  bacteria  may  lead  to  health  problems  for  babies  born  by  CB secZon,  including  suscepZbility  to  skin  infecZons,  allergies,  and  asthma.

KEY  to  everything  from

Page 7: The Beginners Guide to Probiotics

Many  species  of  bacteria  cause  disease  in  humans.  These  are  called  “bad”  bacteria.  A  healthy  microbiota  should  consist  of  80%  of  “good”  bacteria  and  20%  of  so  called  “bad”  bacteria.

Yet  your  gut  someZme  gets  filled  with  "bad"  bacteria  that  release  toxins  and  are  increasingly  associated  with  a  range  of  health  problems.  If  you    have  an  autoimmune  disorder,  depression,  allergies,  or  any  number  of  other  illnesses,  the  underlying  cause  may  be  an  unhealthy  balance  of  gut  bugs.  In  other  words,  it  can  be  because  of  the  abundance  of  “bad”  microbes.

Humans  worry  about  bacteria  such as cans, tetanus and E. coli which live in  spaces  without  oxygen.  That  environment  is  consider  to  be  the  root  for  cancer. E.  Coli  can  be  also passed  to  you  from  undercooked  meat.

Having  the  wrong  mix  of  microbes  may  even  contribute  to  obesity.  Here  is  how…

Read  about  the  War  between  “good”  and  “bad”  bacteria…

31. You  eat  junk  food.

2. Microbes  get  unbalanced.Foods  high  in  fat  and  sugar  encourage  the  growth  of  certain  gut  “bad”  bacteria,  which

make  a  substance  called  endotoxins.

3. Immune  system  reacts.Endotoxin  triggers  inflammaZon  in  the  immune  system.  Gearing  up  for  a  fight,  your  body  begins

to  conserve  energy

4. Metabolic  syndrome  begins. With  the  metabolism  out  of  whack,  your  body  cranks  out  too  much  insulin  –  which  regulates  blood  sugar  -‐  and  can’t  read  “Enough  calories,  already!”  messages  from  the  hormone  lepZn,

which  signals  saZety.  You  eat  more.

Page 9: The Beginners Guide to Probiotics

1. Feed  the  good  bugs.IntesZnal  bacteria  need  to  eat,  and  mounZng  evidence  indicates  that  beneficial  bugs  prefer  nutrients  called  prebioZcs,  which  are  primarily  found  in  high-‐fiber  foods  such  fruits  and  veggies.  Bad  bacteria,  on  the  other  hand,  prefer  the  sugars  and  fats  found  in  processed  foods.  A  2010  study  compared  a  group  of  European  children  who  had  a  diet  high  in  fat,  sugar,  and  starch,  with  tribal  African  children  who  ate  high-‐fiber,  plant-‐based  foods,  and  found  that  the  Africans  had  more  health-‐promoZng  bacteria.

2. Avoid  bacteria-‐harming  drugs. The  anZbioZcs  we  take  to  kill  pathogens  also  lay  waste  to  the  bacteria  in  our  digesZve  tract.  Research  from  Stanford  University  published  last  September  found  that  taking  two  courses  of  anZbioZcs,  spaced  six  months  apart,  changed  the  composiZon  of  good  and  bad  intesZnal  bugs,  disrupZng  the  overall  balance.  We  recommend  avoiding  anZbioZcs  when  you  can—if  you  have  a  virus  that  anZbioZcs  won't  help,  don't  ask  for  a  prescripZon.  We  also  suggests  laying  off  heartburn  pills;  although  less  harmful  to  gut  flora  than  anZbioZcs,  they  alter  the  proporZons  of  intesZnal  bacteria  as  well.  The  upside  is,  if  you're  already  geung  the  right  prebioZcs  and  probioZcs,  you  may  be  less  likely  to  need  such  meds  in  the  first  place.

3. Pick  the  right  probioGcs.You  can  also  Zlt  your  balance  toward  good  bugs  simply  by  eaZng  more  of  them—in  the  form  of  probioZcs,  which  are  live  bacteria  contained  in  foods  and  supplements.  But  if  you  have  a  specific  health  goal  in  mind,  check  the  bacteria  a  product  contains.  "There  are  different  species,  and  different  strains  within  species,  and  they  all  have  different  funcZons.

Things  to  consider  while  choosing  probioZcs:

Page 10: The Beginners Guide to Probiotics

1) The  amount  of  independent  studies. Many  probioZcs  research  studies  are  funded  by  the  big  probioZcs  and  yogurt  brands.  And  no  wonder  that  aher  studying  them  they  come  to  the  conclusion  that  the  study  sponsor  company’s  product  appears  to  have  the  most  beneficial  strain.  Of  course  they  will  tell  us  that  they  were  so  confident  in  their  product  therefore  they  sponsored  the  study.  Needless  to  say,  read  independent  studies.

2) A  synbioGc  containing  ProbioGcs  andPrebioGcs.  As  menZoned  in  #1  suggesZon,  it  is  very  important  to  consume  prebioZcs  that  serve  as  food  for  probioZcs.  Very  few  brands  on  the  market  have  both  together  in  one  tablet.  ProbioZcs  and  PrebioZcs  in  one,  have  excellent  mutually  supporZve  funcZons:

When  consumed,  PrebioZcs  becomes  food  for  ProbioZcs,  strengthening  them  for  beIer  performance  that includes but not limited to the ability of fighting  with  bad  microbes.  On the other hand, Probiotics help the absorption of nutrients (Prebiotics) into our body. Therefore consumed together, Probiotics and Prebiotics have much better health benefit for our bodies.

Page 11: The Beginners Guide to Probiotics

1) Dairy  Base  ProbioGcs:Yogurt  has  goIen  a  lot  of  praise  in  recent  years  for  supposedly  being  the  best  source  of  probioZcs  for  our  bodies,  and  now  that  Greek  yogurt  is  a  trend,  people  seem  nearly  obsessed  with  it!  However  dairy  yogurt  isn’t  all  that  it’s  hyped  up  to  be.  For  one  thing,  cow’s  milk  is  meant  for  baby  cows  and  not  meant  for  human  consumpZon  at  all.  Plus  in  reality,  almost  all  of  the  good  bacteria  that  commercial  yogurt  contains  actually  die  when  passing  the  low  pH  of  the  human  stomach.

2) Plant  Base  ProbioGcs:Some  excellent  sources  of  plant  base  probioZcs  are  kimchi, sauerkraut, miso, kefir and etc.

3) ?    ?  ?  ?Sorry  for  making  you  wait  so  long  for  the  answer

BUT  the  3rd  Type  of  ProbioZcs  is  also  THE  3rd

Criteria  that  you  should  look  before  purchasing

any  probioZcs.

But  before  going  on  to  explain  about  the  3rd  criteria,  we  want  to  lay  out  what  are  the  three  types  of  probio&cs.

Page 12: The Beginners Guide to Probiotics

3) The  source  of  probioGcs.Even  though  Metchnikoff  discovered  probioZcs  later  on  in  1920,  Dr.  ReIger  demonstrated  that  Metchnikoff's  "Bulgarian  Bacillus",  later  called  ’’bulgaricus'',  could  not  live  in  the  human  intesZne.  From  then  on  people  started  to  differ  three  types  of  probioZcs:  a)  dairy  source,  b)  plant  source  and  c)  human  source.  Trials  were  carried  out  using  ''Lactobacillus  acidophilus'’  bacteria  originaZng  from  the  gut,  and  encouraging  results  were  obtained  especially  in  the  relief  of  chronic  consZpaZon.

Very  recently    Sarkis  Mazmanian,  a  biologist  at  the  California  InsZtute  of  Technology,  received  the  MacArthur  FoundaZon  “genius  grant”  for  idenZfying  an  organism  that  comes  from  humans  -‐-‐  not  dairy  products  -‐-‐  that  has  demonstrable  health  benefits  in  both  mice  and  in  human  cells.

Obviously  the  conclusion  is  that  we  have  to  know  before  we  buy  a  certain  probioZcs  whether  it  comes  from  humans.  Unfortunately,  the  majority  of  probioZcs  on  the  market  do  not.

Yes,  you  heard  it  right.

Human  based  probioZcs  are  most  efficacious,

because  they  have  experience  living  in  the  human

organism  for  hundreds  and  thousands  of  years.

While  choosing  a  doctor

we  look  into  the  most  important  factor  –  experience,

But  why,  when  choosing  probioZcs  do  we  neglect

that  fact?

ProbioGcs  are  called“the  internal  doctor”  and  choosing  them  should  be

no  different  than  choosing  the  family  doctor.

The  History  of  “Narine”  ProbioGcs  The  specific  strain  of  probioZcs  we  use  in  our  product,  FruitsMax,  is  called  “Narine”  ProbioZcs  (Lactobacillus  Acidophilus  Er-‐2,  317/407).

“Narine”  ProbioZcs  is  world’s  first  probioZcs  that  were "human sourced" from an infant’s  gut,  right  aher  birth, as part of a study, so as to test the microbes in the human biome directly after birth.

It  was  discovered  by  Armenian  microbiologist  Levon  Yerzenkian  in  1964,  during  the  birth  of  his  granddaughter  aher  whom  he  named  it  “Narine”.

The strain was multiplied further and became a foundation of what would become one of the most studied strain of probiotics in the world.

- 50  years  of  independent  studies  “Narine”  probioZcs  is  one  of  the  most  studied  strains in  the  world.  Different  UniversiZes,  researchers  and  independent  labs  studied  “Narine”  in  the  U.S.,  Japan,  Russia  and  Armenia.  There  are  more  than  90  publicaZons  about  “Narine”.  This  71  page  summary  you  can  download  here.

- Human  origin  probioGcs  As  we  menZoned  in  The History of “Narine” Probiotics,  our  specific  strain  is  one  of  the  very  unique  probioZcs  that  comes  from  a human origin, and  not  dairy  or  plant  base origin.  Therefore  it  is very  efficacious.  Combining  human  origin  probioZcs  with  prebioZcs  makes  FruitsMax  an  obvious  choice  for  people.
