The Beetle STOPS HERE……with your help!!!

Mountain Pine Beetle…… a beetle no bigger than a grain of rice is killing millions of acres of pine trees.

HELP… us stop the spread of the beetle by removing recently infested trees before the beetles mature and fly to attack other trees the following summer after infestation occurs.

Successfully infested trees usually reveal the presence of pitch tubes up to fifteen foot on the tree trunk in late summer to early fall of the year and/or dry boring dust in bark crevices and around the base of the tree as shown above. During drought years there might not be any pitch tubes due to lack of sap in the tree just boring dust which is called a blind hit.

NOTE: A successfully infested tree will still be green in the fall and winter, but will show discolored foliage the next spring/summer after infestation occurs. If the tree foliage is rusty brown the beetles have most likely already flown to infest other trees. The tree needs to be treated before July of the following summer after infestation to prevent the spread of the mountain pine beetle.
