August 2014 Silly Boat Regatta 2014 ! The sun shone down and hit records as we celebrated our 30th Anniversary of the Silly Boat Regatta this year! Fundraising totals are $112,000 and counting! We couldn’t have done it with- out the great support of our Sponsors—particularly our Presenting Sponsor Coast Capital Sav- ings. Additionally, the teams, volunteers, and of course community members who attended the event. For our volunteers—we can’t thank you enough! Countless hands are at the event to help us along the way, from early morning set-up to late afternoon take-down; the talents of our many volunteers shine through. Over 200 volunteers assist the day of the event helping with food, entertainment and logistics. We must also take time to recognize our participants – volunteers themselves. This year 43 teams participated and, although some boats may only last a few minutes in the water each team spends numerous hours planning, building and fundraising! Additionally many local businesses volunteer their time, equipment, or services, to assist us in offering festivities at Silly Boat which are enjoyed by all., true friends of the Centre and Silly Boat All funds raised at Silly Boat go towards programs and services provided at the Centre. As a not -for-profit agency, every program and service provided is touched by fundraised monies in some way. With 249 children on our wait list—waiting up to 5 months for some services, the continued support of this great fundraiser is so gratefully appreciated. Here’s a list of all our teams this year ! Next time you find yourself in any of their establish- ments, be sure to give a special “Ahoy There” to recognize their support of the Centre! What’s Coming Up!
