• Consults with the editorial board to determine general editorial policy. The approval of a simple majority of the editorial

• All staff positions will be appointed by the editor in consultation with the adviser.

a week. Usually, the first draft of a story assigned at the
Tuesday meeting is due the following Monday at noon.

Wednesday nights. Assists the section editors with special
design. Proofreads each page Wednesday night.
• With the help of the editor, is responsible for designing all
templates for the newspaper, including the masthead and

including correspondence (phone and e-mail), billing, receipts and record-keeping in Microsoft Access.
• Sends invoices, copies of newspaper and “tearsheets” of ads to advertisers, issuing a receipt upon payment.
• Promptly deposits payments from ads and subscribers to the UP cashier’s office.
• Each semester, visits all campus departments and distributes an ad-rate sheet and deadline
