YOUTH MINISTRY Youth Room Update: If you have ever been in the youth room and looked up at the ceiling you would
have noticed the painted ceiling tiles from generations of youth students. The last 2 times we have met
we have added new masterpieces to the ceiling. We encouraged them to find a scripture that spoke to them, then they gathered the materials needed and started their projects. Some opted to work alone
while others chose to work in pairs. Each one coming up with great ideas to add to the artwork already
up. So proud of their talent and listening to God speak to them.
The youth summer trip this year will be Warren Willis camp from June 28-July 3rd. Warren Willis
Camp offers many activities during the week to keep them busy while experiencing new and fun
things. There is archery, sailing, football, gaga ball, animal encounters, basketball, swimming, ropes course, four square, fishing and much more. There are worship and talk times where the students are
challenged to grown in their faith. This year there will be Covid friendly restriction to keep the
students safe. We are praying that next year we will return to mission trips. Please keep the students
and camp in your prayers.

Thank you to all our Phone Call Ministry Volunteers for your commitment to calling members of our congregation. It makes them
feel loved knowing we care about them and are staying connected with them as we continue to adjust to COVID living.
Volunteers are needed!!! We currently need several more volunteers to call members of our congregation approximately every 4-6 weeks as a courtesy check-in during these challenging times. We still have several members not venturing out, unless absolutely necessary, and it is extremely important that they feel connected to our church. You would be assigned one page from our church directory with approximately 20 families to call. If you can serve our God through this Outreach Ministry, please call Rita Etherington at (772) 678-1449 or e-mail Rita at [email protected] for more info. Thank you.

You Can’t Cancel
Easter
Every year the First United Methodist Church of Port St Lucie has held an Easter Eggstravaganza event in the city park across the street from the church. The event offered food, music, and a
giant Easter egg hunt. This year the church had to cancel the event for the second year in a row because of COVID.
But COVID could not stop the Easter bunny or the church from giving the children the fun of an Easter egg hunt. How did they handle it? Each child in the church was given two bags of eggs, one for their parents to hide at home; and one bag for the child to share with a friend. But the joy doesn’t stop there.
They gave the Northport K-8 School 22,000 filled Easter eggs for the students.
The church has been partnering with the school for the past five years. Over the years the members of FUMC have given students filled backpacks, school supplies and books. Thousands of them. The result of this outpouring of love is that the school’s rating has gone from a C to a B+. May the blessings never stop.

What happens when we obey God & share His Word?
Our church group met for dinner. Our waitress Angie worked feverishly to serve all of us, I gave her a New Testament & showed her the references, which shows many of life’s problems. “Everyone is facing something,” I said, to which she replied, “That’s for sure.” Turning to the back pages, I asked if she knew Jesus as her Lord and Savior. Hesitantly she said, “Yes, I think so.” I followed up her response with, “If you died tonight, do you know with absolute certainty that you would be in heaven?” “No,” was her reply. Angie sat with me and my husband, I began to share the Gospel with her. She shared with us about making bad decisions, but her move to this community had taken her away from the influence of bad friends. I read the sample prayer aloud to her and asked her if she was ready to make the most important decision of her life. After affirming she was, I invited her to read the prayer aloud for herself. She did so and signed and dated her Testament so she would forever remember this occasion. -Submitted by Coni Stanley Auxiliary of the Gideons (Clarksburg Camp, West Virginia)

-Presentado por Coni Stanley Auxiliary of the Gideons (Campamento Clarksburg, West Virginia)

There's enough need right here!"
It is true that God has called some people to stay right where they are to be witnesses for Jesus in their daily lives and professions. But again, God is merciful and just. Since America has only about 5% of the world's population, then only about 5% of the
believers would really be called to stay in this country as a witness ( that's only about 1 out of 20) while the rest of us should go into the parts of the world where there are almost 0% believers. (In Albania, for instance, there are only "a handful" of known believers
in the whole country of 2,872,934 people - less than 1/2 of 1/1000th percent!) <>< <>< <><

Port St. Lucie Methodist Church was the first house of worship in the City. The A-frame building was a landmark in the community until time, and hurricanes, took their toll. It was demolished in 2006, according to "Port St. Lucie at 50: A City for All People." (This photo was taken circa 1961.) The new church, now named the First United Methodist Church of Port St Lucie, Florida, is at the southeast corner of Prima Vista Boulevard and Irving Street.

Honor Your Mother
Introduction / Hook: Ask the children to close their eyes and try to picture the person you describe. Say, “Think of a woman in your life that has spent more time helping you than any other person.” Allow several volunteers to answer. If needed, ask follow up questions to help them see that their mom is a very important person in their life.
Say, “Today, we are going to learn what kind of attitude God wants us to have toward our parents. This is true for moms and dads, or foster parents, or grandparents who take care of you. But we are going to talk a lot about moms today because it is mother’s day.”
Active Listening: Say, “In just a minute we are going to read a Bible verse that teaches us how God wants us to treat our parents. While we read it, I want you to listen for any action words (verbs) that you hear. Then we’ll review to see how many you could find.”
Bible Passage: Display Ephesians 6:1-3 or have the children look it up in their Bibles. Read the Bible verses to the class; be sure to emphasize the action words discussed below. Then read it a second time to give the children a “second chance” to hear the action words. Say It: Ask the children to repeat the Bible verse after you
Review Action Words: Ask volunteers to explain which action words they heard in the passage. For each response, ask the children to explain what the word means. They may need help from the class. After each word, clarify what the word means. Here are the words they should have heard, with meaning in italics.
Obey – Doing what a person wants you to do Honor – Heart attitude about a person’s importance
Go well – Living a good life Live (NIV says “enjoy long life”) – Staying alive a long time
{Objective #1} Is This Honoring Your Mother? Say, “Honoring means having a right attitude about someone and showing their importance in how you act.” Read the following statements, and have the children agree or disagree. If the statement is something that honors your mother, the children should stand up. If the statement is not honoring, the children should sit with arms crossed.
Doing what mom says right away {True} Throwing a fit if you don’t get what you want {False}
Eating your dinner with thankfulness {True} Complaining about what mom cooked for dinner {False}
Telling your mom that you love her {True} Praying for your mom {True} Telling other people your mom is not nice {False}
{Objective #2} What I like about you . . . Have the children write and decorate a letter to their mother (or caretaker) that answers this question. If you have many younger children present, they will need help writing. Encourage them to draw a picture that goes along with what they like. It may be helpful to write common words or phrases on a marker board to help the children write their letters. Some possible examples:
I like the way you read to me I like the way you help me when I’m hurt I like it when you pray for me at bedtime I like it when you hug me I like it when you take me shopping
Share It: Ask for several volunteers to share what they wrote to their mother.
Optional: You can add a picture of the child to the card using a Polaroid camera or digital camera.
