The red carpet was rolled out Saturday in HermosaBeach for the “Night of Fashion by the Sea BenefitConcert,” a benefit concert for children suffering fromHIV/AIDS and pediatric research.
Jazz icons including Lena Horne, Billie Holiday,Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, Nancy Wilson andDella Reese were honored for lifetime achievement inentertainment and a fashion show, “Runway Fads of
Fashion: Jazz … Rewind the Journey” also took placeas part of the fund-raiser. Hosted by the nonprofitHush Foundation, the event’s proceeds will supportCamp Heartland programs and services, and researchat the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia Center forPediatric and Adolescent AIDS.
Reese started her career in the late 1950s as a jazzsinger but is known recently for her years on the TVshow “Touched by an Angel.” She is now an ordained
