2. Framework and criteria for programme exams

2.1 Automatic registration for all exams

An educational component concludes with an examination that takes place at the end of the component. When students start on an educational component, they are automatically registered for the final exam of the educational component.

Students cannot withdraw registration for examinations in the study programme.

If a student fails an exam, the student will continue to be registered for the examination and will sit the resit exam. The student has three attempts at passing an exam. After that the student will be disenrolled from the study programme. In the ordinary study programmes, registration does not take place, however, if the student is on leave of absence or has been on leave of absence during the semester. A student who is on maternity or paternity leave can, however, register for and attend examinations. The deadline for registration is to be agreed with the programme. 2.2 Academic aptitude examination

Examination procedure The purpose of the academic aptitude examination is to determine whether the students have in fact start-ed their study. The academic aptitude examination is an individual and internal assessed exam. The exam will be assessed passed or failed. The academic aptitude examination is not comprised by the rules of Chapter 10 Complaints about exams, cf. section 9(4) of Ministerial Order no. 1519 of 16 December 2013 on examinations on professionally ori-ented higher education programmes (the Exam Order). That means that the students cannot complain about: 1) the examination basis, including exam questions, assignments, etc.; 2) the course of the examination; or 3) the assessment Order of examinations The academic aptitude examination consists of several parts, which are spread out over the first three weeks of the study programme. Following the study start, the tests take place in several steps and the stu-dent is informed about the form and the content at the start of the programme. Part 1: Participate during the first day of the study programme Part 2: Within the first two weeks, he/she must have their photo taken for the student card Part 3: Documented by signature, the student confirms that he/she has contributed in the preparation of the study group contract Part 4: Participate in the discussions during the Reflective Practice Based Learning (RPL) conversations Part 5: Participate in the lectures during the first three weeks Part 6: Receive approval of study-start quiz which is to be held after three weeks of studies

Based upon a combined evaluation of all the elements of the academic aptitude examination, the teachers of the study programme determine whether the student has met the requirements of the tests, and the teachers thereby make an overall assessment of whether the student effectively has started on the educa-tion. If the teachers of the programme, in their combined evaluation, do not asses that the student has started on the study programme, the student shall, immediately following the assessment, be offered to take a supplementary test, upon which the student must hand-in a written presentation of max. 1 normal page (one normal page has 2,100 key strokes incl. spacing). The written presentation should include an explanation of: reflections over own study activity the first weeks of the study programme, purpose for choosing the study programme, and own contribution in rela-tion to the study-group activities and the class as a whole. During an subsequent oral exam the student must demonstrate his/her study readiness, co-operative skills and personal insight. The oral exam has a duration of 30 minutes incl. assessment. The study programme may exempt individual students from the deadlines that have been set for passing the examination if the exemption is due to illness, maternity or paternity leave or exceptional circumstanc-es. If students do not pass the exam in the second attempt, their registration will be terminated, cf. section 37(3) of the Ministerial Order on admission to academy profession degree programmes and professional bachelor's degree programmes (the Admission Order). This will have the same form and content as the supplementary test for the ordinary exam.

2.3 Examination in the compulsory educational components: Business understanding, Scientific method and philosophy of science, and Communication

Examination prerequisites

The contents of the written group project must be academically honest. The assignment must meet the formal requirements and be submitted correctly and in due time.

The students confirm by their signatures that they are responsible for the project preparation.

Examination procedure At the end of the 1st semester there will be an individual oral exam with a duration of 30 minutes, including time for deliberations.

In groups of 3-5 persons, the students are to prepare a project equivalent to 15 standard pages, i.e. 31,500 characters including spaces. One standard page is 2,100 characters including spaces and footnotes. The pages are exclusive of cover page, table of contents and appendices. Appendices will not be assessed. The group project is not to be individualised. 14 days are allocated for project preparation at the end of the semester. The students must choose a financial company and prepare a project about the company and the industry. The students will be given guidance in preparing the project according to a guidance plan. The 30-minute oral examination of the student takes the group project as its starting point. If the total assessment results in a grade below 02, the student is to resit the oral exam. The students are not to prepare a new project in order to register for the exam. The examination is internally assessed and will be graded according to the 7-point grading scale.

Examination prerequisites In the 1st semester the students are to submit one written assignment in Business economics I. In the 2nd semester the students are to submit one written assignment in Business economics II and Micro-economics. The written assignments must be submitted in due time and be academically honest. If students fail to submit all three written assignments, they are considered to have used an exam attempt. The students thus have two exam attempts left to pass the 1st externally assessed exam.

Examination procedure Individual 4-hour externally assessed exam in the learning outcomes from the first year of study in Business economics and Microeconomics.

The examination question is prepared by a national assignment commission. The examination is in writing and will be graded according to the 7-point grading scale. The exam is worth 20 ECTS credits.

Assessment criteria The assessment criteria for the exam are the same as the learning outcomes for the compulsory education-al components: Business economics and Microeconomics.

Examination prerequisites In the 1st and 2nd semesters, respectively, the students are to submit one written assignment in Business and finance law. The written assignments must be submitted in due time and be academically honest. If students fail to submit both written assignments, they are considered to have used an exam attempt. The students thus have two exam attempts left to pass the 2nd externally assessed exam. Examination procedure Individual 3-hour externally assessed exam in the learning outcomes from the first year of study in Business and finance law. The exam is graded according to the 7-point grading scale. The exam is worth 10 ECTS credits.

Assessment criteria The assessment criteria for the exam are the same as the learning outcomes for the compulsory educational component Business and finance law.

2.6 Exam in the compulsory educational components: Personal finance advising and ethics, and Selling I

Examination prerequisites

The contents of the written sales presentation must be academically honest. The sales presentation must meet the formal requirements and be submitted correctly and in due time.

The students confirm by their signatures that they are responsible for the sales presentation.

The students are to participate in an oral presentation in the communication lab.

Non-performance of one or more prerequisites means that the students will be considered to have made an exam attempt.

Examination procedure In groups of 2-3 persons, the students are to prepare a sales presentation before the exam equivalent to a maximum of 10 standard pages, i.e. 21,000 characters including spaces. One standard page is 2,100 charac-ters including spaces and footnotes. The pages are exclusive of cover page, table of contents and appen-dices. Appendices will not be assessed.

No guidance is given in connection with the preparation of the sales presentation. The 30-minute oral examination of the student includes a role play followed by reflection. The first part of the exam is an advisory situation where the sales phases are used and where the student is the advisor and the examiners act as customer, based on the sales presentation. The second part of the exam takes place as a reflection based on the role play and the sales presentation. If the total assessment results in a grade below 02, the student is to resit the oral exam. The students are not to prepare a new project in order to register for the exam.

The exam is an internally assessed oral exam.

The exam is graded according to the 7-point grading scale.

One individual overall grade is given based on an overall evaluation of the written and oral performance.

The exam is worth 20 ECTS credits. Assessment criteria The assessment criteria for the exam are the same as the learning outcomes for the compulsory education-al components: Personal finance advising and ethics, and Sales I.

2.7 Examination in the compulsory educational components: Macroeconomics, Statistics, and International capital markets

Examination prerequisites For each of the subjects Macroeconomics, Statistics, and International capital markets the students are to submit three written assignments. The written assignments must be submitted in due time and be academically honest. If students fail to submit all three written assignments, they are considered to have used an exam attempt. The students thus have two exam attempts left to pass the 2nd externally assessed exam. Prerequisites for the exam group project are:

The contents of the written group project must be academically honest. The assignment must meet the formal requirements and be submitted correctly and in due time.

The students confirm by their signatures that they are responsible for the project preparation.

Examination procedure 90-minute oral group exam, including time for deliberations, in the subjects Macroeconomics, International capital markets, and Statistics. In groups of 4-5 persons, the students are to prepare a project equivalent to 15 standard pages, i.e. 31,500 characters including spaces. One standard page is 2,100 characters including spaces and footnotes. The pages are exclusive of cover page, table of contents and appendices. Appendices will not be assessed. The group project is not to be individualised. 14 days are allocated for project preparation at the end of the semester. The students are given a broad subject for the project. The subject is so broad that the students are able to formulate a title and problem statement and research question themselves. The students will be given guidance in preparing the project according to a scheduled guidance plan. The 90-minute oral examination of the students takes the group project as its starting point. The students are assessed individually. If the total assessment results in a grade below 02, the student is to resit the oral exam. The students are not to prepare a new project in order to register for the exam. The examination is internally assessed and will be graded according to the 7-point grading scale.

The exam is worth 15 ECTS credits. Assessment criteria The assessment criteria for the exam are the same as the learning outcomes for the compulsory educational components: Macroeconomics, Statistics, and International capital markets.

2.8 Exam in the compulsory educational components: Cultural understanding, Organisation, and Marketing

Examination procedure Individual 3-hour written exam in the learning outcomes from Cultural understanding, Organisation, and Marketing. 48 hours before the exam the students will be given a case, and the questions for the 3-hour written exam will take the case as the starting point. The examination is internally assessed and will be graded according to the 7-point grading scale. The exam is worth 15 ECTS credits. Assessment criteria The assessment criteria for the exam are the same as the learning outcomes for the compulsory education-al component Cultural understanding, Organisation, and Marketing. 2.10 Examination in the compulsory educational components: Business taxation and Corporate financial planning

Examination prerequisites In the 4th semester the students are to submit one written assignment in Business taxation and Corporate financial planning. The written assignments must be submitted in due time and be academically honest. If students fail to submit both written assignments, they are considered to have used an exam attempt. The students thus have two exam attempts left to pass the 5th internally assessed exam. Examination procedure Individual 4-hour written exam in the learning outcomes from the subjects Business taxation and Corporate financial planning. The exam is a 2-hour written examination in the two subjects which are assessed individually but graded jointly. The exam will be assessed according to the 7-point grading scale for each part exam, and the grades will feature on the degree certificate. The exam is assessed according to the 7-point grading scale based on an ECTS-weighted average of the grades for the individual part exams. If the mean is at least exactly between two grades, the grade will be rounded up. However, the average must be at least 02 without rounding up. If the student fails to get the grade 02 as a minimum in the overall assessment, the student must sit a resit exam in the subjects in which the student did not get the grade 02 as a minimum. Grades of a minimum of 02 in ordinary exams will be transferred to resit exams – cf. section 7(2) of the Exam Order. The examination is internally assessed and will be graded according to the 7-point grading scale. The exam is worth 10 ECTS credits.

2.11 Examination in the compulsory educational components: Project management and Selling II

Examination prerequisites

The contents of the written sales presentation must be academically honest. The sales presentation must meet the formal requirements and be submitted correctly and in due time.

The students confirm by their signatures that they are responsible for preparing the joint sales presentation.

Examination procedure The students prepare a joint sales presentation for corporate clients of a maximum of six standard pages (corresponding to 6,300 characters incl. spaces). One standard page is 2,100 characters including spaces and footnotes. The pages are exclusive of cover page, table of contents and appendices. Appendices will not be assessed. About half the presentation is to be an actual sales presentation and about half a reflec-tion on the process in respect of project management and the further course of the sales project. No guid-ance is given in connection with the preparation of the presentation. This is followed by a 45-minute oral exam, including time for deliberations, in Selling II and Project man-agement. The students sit the oral exam in pairs, and they constitute a sales team (exemption may be given for a sales team with three persons). The 45-minute oral examination of the students includes a role play followed by examination. The first part of the exam is a role play with an advisory situation where the students use the sales phases in relation to a corporate client. The second part of the exam is in the form of a dialogue on selected professional subjects emanating from the sales presentation. Project management will have special focus in this part of the ex-am. If the total assessment results in a grade below 02, the student is to resit the oral exam. The students are not to prepare a new project in order to register for the exam. The examination is internally assessed and will be graded according to the 7-point grading scale.

2.12 Examination in the compulsory educational component: Business development and innovation

Examination prerequisites

The contents of the joint written presentation must be academically honest. The joint presentation must meet the formal requirements and be submitted correctly and in due time.

The students confirm by their signatures that they are responsible for preparing the joint presenta-tion.

Examination procedure A 45-minute group examination will be held, including time for deliberations, in the subject Business devel-opment and innovation. The students sit the group exam in groups of two or three students. In groups of 2-3 persons, the students are to prepare a project equivalent to a maximum of 5 standard pag-es, i.e. not more than 10,500 characters including spaces. One standard page is 2,100 characters including spaces and footnotes. The pages are exclusive of cover page, table of contents and appendices. Appendices will not be assessed. The presentation must be based on business development and/or innovation of a company; most often one of the companies in which the students have taken their internship. No guidance is given in connection with the preparation of the presentation. The 45-minute oral examination of the students takes the presentation as its starting point. If the total assessment results in a grade below 02, the student is to resit the oral exam. The students are not to prepare a new project in order to register for the exam. The examination is internally assessed and will be graded according to the 7-point grading scale.

The exam is worth 5 ECTS credits. Assessment criteria The assessment criteria for the exam are the same as the learning outcomes for the compulsory educational component Business development and innovation.

2.13 Examination in the compulsory educational component: Financing and financial risk management

Examination procedure Individual 2-hour written exam in the learning outcomes from the subjects Financing and Financial risk management. The examination is internally assessed and will be graded according to the 7-point grading scale. The exam is worth 5 ECTS credits. Assessment criteria The assessment criteria for the exam are the same as the learning outcomes for the compulsory education-al component Financing and financial risk management. 2.14 Examination in the compulsory educational component: Specialisation B

Examination prerequisites The students are to submit four written assignments. The four written assignments must be submitted in due time and be academically honest. If students fail to submit all four written assignments, they are con-sidered to have used an exam attempt. The students thus have two exam attempts left to pass the 4th ex-ternally assessed exam. Examination procedure Individual 4-hour written exam in the learning outcomes from Specialisation B with an option to receive a case a week before the exam (the Management accounting specialisation uses this option). The examination question is prepared by a national assignment commission. The examination is externally assessed and will be graded according to the 7-point grading scale.

3. Elective educational components

Contents The elective educational components give the students the opportunity to qualify their study and profes-sional competence through specialising and further expanding subjects that are broadly related to the fi-nance field.

Each year the programme offers a number of elective subjects, which can be found on Canvas.

The students may plan their elective educational components themselves as a theoretical and/or practical educational programme to be approved by the study programme.

Registration form for electives is found in the Electives catalogue. Registration for electives takes place at

the Study Administration Office where the registration form is handed in. The students are notified of the

It is important for the students to carefully consider which electives they want, as credit transfer to other

higher-education programmes may require certain electives in the programme. This is, for example, the

case for continuing education at the M.Sc. study programme at Aalborg University. The students are of

course free to choose their own electives. However, if they do so, they must be aware that they fall outside

of the credit transfer agreements and will thus have to seek possible credit transfer themselves.

Examination prerequisites Depending on the elective, there will be requirements of participation in a given study activity. It could be a presentation, a written paper, etc. The study activity is to be communicated when the subject is created.

Scheduled time The elective educational components are placed in the 6th and 7th semesters of the programme. Examination procedure The exams are internally assessed and oral/in writing dependent on the chosen elective and are graded according to the 7-point grading scale.

Examination language Danish/English depending on the elective chosen.

4. Internship

4.1 Internship requirements and expectations

During the internship, students work on professionally relevant issues, just as they become familiarised with relevant job functions. The connection between the theoretical tuition and the internship is the basis of the student's internship goals. Based on the learning outcomes for the internship, cf. the national section of this Curriculum, the student and the supervisor/contact person will collaborate on setting the specific goals for the learning outcomes of the internship. The goals are written down and registered in the student's internship portal. These goals will guide the planning of the students' internship tasks and work. The internship should be considered similar to a full-time job with the same requirements for working hours, effort, commitment and flexibility that graduates can expect to meet in their first job. The internship may be organised in a flexible and personalised manner and may form the basis of the stu-dents' final bachelor project.

4.2 Examination prerequisites

Examination prerequisites

The contents of the written internship report must be academically honest. The internship report must meet the formal requirements and be submitted correctly and in due time.

The students confirm by their signatures that they are responsible for the internship report prepa-ration.

If students fail to meet the exam prerequisites, they are considered to have used an exam attempt. The students thus have two exam attempts left to pass the 7th internally assessed exam.

Examination procedure At the end of the internship there will be an oral exam (30 minutes) based on a written report of 15 stand-ard pages about a professional issue from the place of internship as well as the learning outcomes for the internship. One standard page is 2,100 characters including spaces and footnotes. The pages are exclusive of cover page, table of contents and appendices. Appendices will not be assessed.

5. The professional bachelor's project

Examination prerequisites The written project, which constitutes the assessment as well as the examination basis, must

meet the requirements for the final bachelor's project; see the national section of this Curriculum

be submitted in due time according to the exam plan, which can be found on Canvas., including up-loaded in 'UC Knowledge'

Incorrect submission of the written project, which constitutes the written part of the exam, means that the students cannot sit the exam and that they will be considered to have made an exam attempt.

The exam will not take place until the students have passed the final internship exam as well as the other exams of the programme.

Examination procedure The examination is an externally assessed, oral examination based on a written project. The written part of the bachelor's project may be prepared individually or in groups of two or three students. If the students fail the bachelor's project, a new project must be prepared. Group members who do not pass are subject to the same rule. One individual overall grade is given based on an overall evaluation of the written and oral performance. The exam is graded according to the 7-point grading scale. The project is presented by the student; a maximum of 15 minutes followed by examination. 45 minutes are allocated per examinee, including time for deliberations. The exam is worth 20 ECTS credits.

Assessment criteria The assessment criteria for the exam are the same as the learning outcomes for the final professional bach-elor's project, cf. the national section of this Curriculum.

6. Educational components that may take place abroad

Each of the educational components of the study programme may take place abroad if the student applies for and is granted pre-approval of credit transfer by the study programme.

Upon pre-approval of a study abroad period the students must, after conclusion of their study abroad, doc-ument the completed educational components of the approved study abroad. In connection with the pre-approval the students must give their consent to the institution obtaining the necessary information follow-ing completed study abroad.

For the final approval of pre-approved credit transfer, the educational component is considered completed if it is passed in accordance with the regulations applying to the study programme.

UCN has a broad network of partners abroad, and UCN's international department may help students plan to take part of their study programme abroad. Please contact UCN's international department for further information. However, the students should be aware that it requires a great deal of work for the individual student, if they want a stay abroad. It is the responsibility of the individual student to find out which studies that can be studied abroad, etc., at the desired university. The international department will be of service with good advice but does not take part in the detailed planning. That is the student's responsibility.

8. Types of learning and teaching methods applied

UCN's learning approach is called "Reflective Practice-Based Learning". Reflective means that through their course of study students are motivated to develop personal and professional competences, such as the competence to reflect on and evaluate their own learning outcome.

Through systematic feedback processes, surveys and consideration of the knowledge and practice of the profession/trade so far, the students will through their study qualify themselves to being independent, in-novative and problem-solving in their service as an employee in a financial company. Through their study the students will thus become firmly rooted in the profession/trade which is the aim of the study pro-gramme.

However, learning is not a transfer of knowledge from lecturer to student. In the Financial Management and Service programme the starting point is for learning to take place within the student and in relations to fellow students and lecturers. In the Financial Management and Service programme the focus of learning is also that students learn in different ways. The study programme has thus been planned on the basis of dif-ferent educational methods. The Study Activity Model shows the different study activities that come into play in respect of the students achieving the learning outcomes of the study. However, it is important to stress that the students must take ownership of their course of study.

According to the Danish Ministry of Higher Education and Science, the student is to achieve learning worth 30 ECTS per semester. One ECTS credit constitutes 27 working hours for the students. The semester plan therefore includes an overview of the expected workload for the different subjects/study activities.

The Study Activity Model

In the Financial Management and Service programme we use a wide range of teaching and learning meth-ods that combined support the student in achieving the learning outcomes described in this curriculum, and through the programme there is a clear progression in the learning forms, meaning that the learning forms move from knowledge-oriented and lecturer-centred tuition to problem-oriented and student-directed tuition.

The tuition takes relevant practices of the profession as its starting point and links theory and practice – Practice-based learning. Issues from the different types of companies in the financial sector will be includ-ed.

The tuition can be planned to include foreign languages in the form of teaching materials and in the tuition. Furthermore, the tuition supports the development of the information and communications technology competences of the students.

9. Obligation to participate and obligation to attend

In the Financial Management and Service programme there is an obligation to attend in the 1st and 2nd semesters, and any absence is registered. There is an obligation to attend because learning requires attend-ance and active participation in the study activities. Further, the study programme sees the obligation to attend as a help to the transition of students from being pupils to being students in a higher education.

In order for the learning outcome of the study programme to be achieved and the tuition forms to function, it is also important to stress that the students have an obligation to participate in the form of

written submission / presentation of assignments / projects, etc.

A rejection of the student's fulfilment of the obligation to participate, for example a rejection of a written assignment, or non-compliance with the formal requirements for the assignment, will be registered as non-compliance with the study activity in relation to receipt of SU.

The study programme will offer help and guidance as soon as possible if a student is neglecting his/her obli-gation to participate and attend.

9.1 Student counselling

As a student of the Financial Management and Service programme you may contact the student advisor if you are facing challenges in respect of meeting the requirement for participation and attendance. You may also go to the student advisor if you have questions regarding the planning of the study programme, studies abroad, etc. See contact information at www.ucnorth.dk

9.2 Lecturers as counsellors

The lecturers at the Financial Management and Service programme often act as counsellors to the students

in respect of the study activities in connection with project work, for example.

The aim of the counselling is to support:

The study group gradually taking over the functions of the counsellor, at a pace which complies with the competence of the group

10. Criteria for assessing study activity

Registration may be terminated for students who have not been participating actively in studies for a con-

tinuous period of at least one year.

Periods in which the students have not participated actively in studies due to leave of absence, maternity or

paternity leave, adoption of a child, verified illness or military service do not count against the period of 12

months required for participating actively in studies. On request, the students must provide documentation

of such matters.

The study programme may ignore these stipulations in exceptional circumstances. The application for ex-

emption should be submitted to the programme director.

Before registration is terminated, the individual students will be notified in writing. In connection with such

notification, the students will be made aware of the above rules. The letter to the students must state that

they have 14 days to document that periods in which they did not participate actively in studies should not

count in; together with a deadline for making an appeal for exemption. If the students have not responded

within the fixed deadline, their registration as students will be terminated

11. Credit transfer for elective educational components

Passed elective educational components are equivalent to the corresponding educational components of-fered by other providers of this study programme as well as to educational components of other study pro-grammes. Pre-approved credit transfer can be applied for if credit is requested for educational components not of-fered by the programme.

12. Language

Most of the teaching materials are in Danish, but parts of the tuition may be in English. Students are not required to have any knowledge of foreign languages other than that stated in Ministerial Order no. 223 of 11 March 2014 on admission to academy profession degree programmes and professional bachelor's degree programmes (the Admission Order).

12.1 Examination language

Examinations must be taken in understandable Danish. Students whose mother tongue is not Danish/English may apply for an exemption from the requirement that spelling and writing skills form part of the assessment criteria for the professional bachelor's degree project in which such skills are stated in this curriculum to be part of the assessment criteria. The applica-tion must be submitted to the programme not later than four weeks before the exam is to take place.

13. Illness resit examinations and resit examinations

14. Study aids

Any rules governing a restriction in the use of study aids are found in the description of the individual exam.

15. Special exam arrangements

Students may apply for special exam arrangements if their medical condition or relevant specific disabilities qualify them to do so. The application must be submitted to the programme not later than four weeks be-fore the exam is to take place. The application deadline may be extended in cases of sudden health-related problems. With the application the following should be enclosed: a medical certificate; a statement from e.g. a speech, hearing, dyslexia or blind institute; or other evidence of the health condition or relevant spe-cific functional impairment. [If the examination language is Danish] Students whose mother tongue is not English may apply for permission to bring dictionaries to exams. 16. Academic misconduct at exams

When handing in a written exam assignment, the students must confirm by signature that the assignment

was prepared without undue help.

18. Exemption

The institution may grant exemption from the rules in this institutional section of the curriculum that are laid down solely by the institution, when found substantiated in exceptional circumstances. The education-al institutions co-operate on a uniform exemption practice.

19. Effective date and transition provisions1

This institutional section of the curriculum enters into force on 1 September 2015 with effect for all stu-dents who are and will be registered in the programme and for all exams commenced on said date or thereafter. The national section of this Curriculum of January 2014 is revoked with effect from 31 August 2015. How-ever, exams started before 1 September 2015 will be carried out according to the national section of this Curriculum not later than 31 August 2015.
