“Most generations tread a path they neither make, nor discover, but the Black

net-generation and their Latino, Asian and white allies have forged aRevolutionary digital future. And, with these words, I dedicate my book,

Race for Cyberspace, to them.”

"The Black net-generation helped propel Barack Obama into power. Now, the

Children of the digital age are changing the way their communities access

and use the Internet and computers for equality and social justice.

Net-geners, now in their 20sand 30s, are the first to grow up digitally

aware. This digital immersion - with all its gadgets -- has given them the

skills and reflexes to press for change. Black tele-campaigners and cyber

organisers have shaken up the game of politics. They ignited the voting and

browsers appeared, I sent my self an e-mail: "Get on the Internet. Follow

the principle of Black advancement, equality and social justice -- for jobs,

housing, schools and health facilities."

hypothesis, it is a hope. If the African American net generation has shown

the skills and initiatives to catapult Barack Obama, the first Black US

president, into power, against all odds, then their global counterparts, the

cyber activists in Africa and the Diaspora -- Latin America, the Caribbean,

Britain and Europe -- can act as partisans for change in their worlds."
