Guidelines for The Arrupe Award ~ Person for Others The Award Cura personalis is appropriately characterized as care of the individual (or person). The person who receives this award has demonstrated considerable care towards the individuals he/she serves where he/she is employed, whether that is co-workers, customers, or tutoring recipients. The award is named for Fr. Pedro Arrupe, S.J. (November 14, 1907 – February 5, 1991) who was the twenty eighth Superior General (1965-83) of the Society of Jesus and created the phrase “person for others.” Recognition The employee selected for The Arrupe Award will receive a personalized trophy, will be featured in an announcement on the Loyola website, and also featured in an announcement in the Loyola Phoenix. In addition, the employee will be recognized at The Weekend of Excellence ceremony on April 21 st , 2012. Eligibility All current Loyola students employed via on-campus employment or community-based federal work study. The student must also have a GPA of 2.5 or higher. NominationNominations may be submitted by a manager, co-worker, or recipient of service from the work place. Nominations can be submitted on-line via luc.edu/studentemployment and emailed to [email protected]. Nominations must be submitted by March 1st, 2012.

The selection committee will be comprised of three staff members, two graduate students, four alumni, and two faculty members. The selection committee will be responsible for reviewing all nominations and relevant documentation.
