FROM THE REGIONAL DIRECTOR’S DESK
Dear Friends,
I wish thank God for you in the just ended
year 2016; a year which has been very re-
markable in our hospitaller experiences
out here. We realised most of our planned
activities thanks to your continuous sup-
port. I can assure you that we were able to
reach out to so many people especially in
the villages thanks to your financial and
material support. Though the year ended
with socio-political uncertainty looming in
some regions where our services are lo-
cated, hopeful peace awaits. As a result
communication with internet in the regions
is temporally suspended to date.
It is yet another new year in our St John of
God health services. We began the year
with the demise of Bro Albert Fominyen
Muna whose sad event occurred on 1st
January 2017. He was laid to rest in Batibo
on 12th January, 2017 during a solemn
requiem mass celebrated at St Sebastian
Parish by the Vicar General of Bamenda
archdiocese in the presence of our Provin-
cial Superior Bro Bartholomew Kamara,
priests, religious and lay faithful.
The people of Efah village rejoiced with the visit
of the Provincial. The visit coincided with the
evaluation meeting with the Efah village commu-
nity on the construction of a 20 cubic meter water
tank sponsored by Mr John Mitchel from Ireland.
The St John of God hospital in Batibo hosted a
coordination meeting comprising of all Chief of
Centres drawn from St John of God outreach clin-
ics within(Koana, Efah, Mbengok, Elum and
Ashong).

There were eighteen (18) participants in attend-
ance and the participation was very encouraging
The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the
annual plan and to educate on the philosophy of
St John of God health system in the region. It
was very interactive. Participants pledged to edu-
cate their quarters on the importance of making
use of the health facility in their locality.
EFAH VILLAGE WATER TANK CONSTRUC-
TION
Water is life. The people of Efah village are
proud of Mr John Mitchel for sponsoring the con-
struction of a 20 cubic metre water tank and fil-
tration chambers costing over 6500 euros in their
village. This project was initiated by Mr John
Mitchel during his last visit to inaugurate a prima-
ry school complex in March 2016 at Koano vil-
lage in Upper Bayang. On the 13th January, 2017
the Provincial Superior participated in an inaugu-
ral meeting at Efah.
To pledge their support of the project, the villag-
ers have mobilised to transport materials to the
sight covering a distance of close to 3km. When
completed, it will boost the volume of water sup-
ply to the villagers and the St John of God Health
Post in Efah.

Br Jesus Gonsalez loves children and will always
like to explain to them many things in pidgin. He
cares especially for the cripple and the lame and
teaches them in the android generation. Bro Je-
sus accompanies the outreach team almost every
week to the villages in search of the many aban-
doned handicap children.
Usually, we discover some of these children hid-
den in homes especially where parents cannot
just afford to bring them to hospital for corrective

WARD ROUNDS IN YASSA
In all our St John of God health services in
Cameroon, there is always the presence of a
doctor in the facility throughout the week.
There is a Doctor on call over the weekend.
This gives much guarantee to all our patients.
Ward rounds are conducted every day in the
facility making a great difference between our
facility and the others. Here below Doctor
Landry Vougue and nurses make rounds in
Yassa health facility.

measures. It is just sad to see many children that
cannot be helped due to lack of proper infor-
mation and resources. The Lilian Funds have
limited funds to contain all the cases that we
keep discovering in the villages. Brother Jesus
Gonsalez and his friends in Spain are helping
also but more help is needed.
The voice of Jesus keep calling, ‘Let the little
children come to me’ for inclusive care such as
medical care, feeding, enabling environment, ed-
ucation and rehabilitation. The great question is:
How do we manage all these needs with our lim-
ited resources? I know someone is out there
looking for one child to assist and give meaning
to his/her life.
FUNERAL OF LATE BROTHER ALBERT FOM-
INYEN MUNA
The sad event of the death of Bro Albert Muna

dad Hospital in Mankon town – Bamenda. On
the 12th January, 2017, Brothers, family, friends
and well-wishers converged at the St Sebastian
Catholic Parish to bid last farewell to late Bro Al-
bert Muna. The Father Provincial and his Secre-
tary from Ghana were in attendance. The requi-
em mass was celebrated by the Vicar General of
the Archdiocese of Bamenda as Chief Celebrant
and many priests and deacons from the Archdio-
cese of Bamenda and Mamfe.
In attendance were religious men and women,
lay faithful, CWA and many friends from far and
near. After the mass, he was laid to rest at the
