ear brothers and sisters in Christ,
This week we have the opportunity to
observe Holy Week. In our super busy
world, can there be a more significant time to stop, and
meditate on the meaning of Jesus’ sufferings, and resur-
rection?
These events in the life of Jesus did not simply affect
our Savior…they affect our lives, because they are the
saving acts of God on our behalf.
Paul the apostle explains how the Cross and Resurrec-
tion affect him personally:
“I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I
who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I
now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God,
who loved me and gave Himself up for me.” Galatians
2:20 (NASB)
This is not simply an individual experience for Paul. It
is true for all of us. He explains that,
“Therefore we have been buried with Him through bap-
tism into death, so that as Christ was raised from the
dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might
walk in newness of life.” Romans 6:4 (NASB)
On the Day of Resurrection, we not only celebrate the
victory of our Lord Jesus Christ, but our own
“resurrection” in Him, as we live by faith in the risen
Son of God.

Happy April! Time has been flying by in the Border
Fellows program as we continue to explore what it looks
like to combine your faith and vocation with God’s heart
for people living in the margins. In March the fellows took
a “field trip” downtown where they were able to learn from
a local historian about the history of the El Paso/Juarez
region from Native American times through Spanish con-
quest, Mexican presence, U.S. territory, the wild west days
and El Paso’s modern history since the early 1900s. We
learned how all of this rich history makes El Paso what it is
today, and how it affects our perspective as we walk along-
side the community in the Rio Grande district.
This month we will be traveling to New Mexico to
stay the weekend at a Navajo reservation, learning the his-
tory of the Navajo tribe in the Southwest Region, and con-
necting with the Southwest chapter of the Christian Com-
munity Development Association.
As always, I want to thank you for your support!
We are already hard at work recruiting fellows for fall 2015,
and it’s such an honor for me to brag about St. Clements to
potential applicants. Fellows move to El Paso not knowing
anyone and most having never visited El Paso before, and
you, the St. Clements community, make it feel a bit more
like home for them.
Thank you for all you
have done so far this
year to make this pro-
gram possible. The fel-
lows program officially
ends in mid June, so if
you’ve been wanting to
get to know Jennie, Jes-
sica or Caleb before they leave, now is the time!
EASTER! It used to be my second favorite holiday of the year (Christmas being the first.) This year it has become my
favorite holiday! Why? I read the Bible again! Let me share with you what I found as I read. I read Genesis where I
saw that God created man and then hung out with him every day in the garden. I read that when man betrayed God’s
trust and gave away the right to rule the earth (the precious gift that God had given man) to satan (God’s arch enemy)
that God’s response was to go find the hiding, now fearful man and make adequate clothes for him and ask him what
happened (Genesis 3). Then I read the middle part of the Bible where God spent all of history creating and orchestrat-
ing an amazing plan to purchase that which had been his in the first place, the earth and mankind. I read the Gospels
where God waited till just the right time (fullness of time Galations 4:4) to make this incredible move to redeem man-
kind and then I saw what that plan was! It was the giving of His own Son, his precious Son to leave their kingdom (the
kingdom of heaven) and come to earth to prove to man His love (John 3;16.) He did this in his life and his actions and
then by his death. Then, the most amazing part of the story came when I read that He was raised back to life! And
then I read that the same power that raised Jesus is now at work in mankind (Eph 1: 19-20.) He trusts us to bring the
kingdom of heaven to earth. We have been given a second commission, even though we failed at the first commission.
We have been given the commission to let the entire world know that the judgment of God was satis-
fied in the death of His Son (John 12:31) that He is not willing that any should perish (Matt 18:14) and
there is forgiveness for anyone that will receive Him (John 1:12.) It is a free and complete justification.
And! we have the privilege to be entrusted with this message. And as all ambassadors (2 Cor 5;20), we have the power
and authority to carry this out (matt 21:18.). How did this happen? BECAUSE OF EASTER! Amazing! Talk about a
good, good Father! He is the best. Happy Easter!

Spanish speaking students at our English Speaking Center are giving
back to Saint Clement
Our English Speaking Center serves over 70 students twice weekly
through the help of 8 wonderful volunteer teachers. This year we have
had an increase in international students coming from other countries
in Latin America, from Japan and Korea and several from different
countries in Europe. David Garcia, a parishioner and one of our vol-
unteer teachers has enhanced our English program by adding Spanish
classes two-days a week after the English classes are over to help non
-Spanish speaking students and a few church members learn Spanish.
And although the beginning Spanish classes are new, several people
have told us they’ve had a need to learn Spanish for quite some time.
These classes are free. We’re starting with the very basics, like the
Spanish alphabet and basic numbers. And we’re also learning the
feminine and masculine endings of nouns as well as the singular and
plural articles that sometimes can seem so confusing to students. The
Spanish classes are being taught by business professionals from Mex-
ico which adds to the whole learning experience. Real Estate profes-
sionals, Architects, even therapists and a Montessori teacher take stu-
dents from the very beginning of Spanish pronunciation through the
basic elements of Spanish grammar. The teachers are English Center
students who are now teaching Spanish helping their students identify
with the new language. These students now teachers have learned the
techniques of teaching a new language to others through their own
experiences in learning English.
These first classes will move on to sentence structure before adding
reading and writing to the class work. On Mondays the native Spanish
speakers add new elements to the class and on Wednesdays review
the previous class and then go through vocabulary and sentence struc-
ture brought in by the students not only from the U.S but also from
Japan, Korea, Bulgaria, Turkey and the Netherlands.
David Garcia’s new experiment in multicultural blending is exciting
and challenging. Students from other countries recognize that to fully
benefit from what El Paso has to offer they need learn not only Eng-
lish but also Spanish. We appreciate David’s enthusiasm and creativ-
ity in energizing our English Speaking Center community.

St. Clements supports many missions and missionaries
throughout the El Paso/Juarez area through your gener-
ous giving to the Lord’s work. On Sunday April
12th Robert Hart with Living Hope Christian Counseling
Service will be at both services to share what this minis-
try is doing to help many adults and children in El Paso.
Living Hope Christian Counseling Service is a 501 (c)(3) non
-profit organization that shares a common goal in adults and
children of all ages by offering hope, healing and restoration to
hurting people, marriages, and families, using respected therapy practices and solid biblical principles. Our purpose is to
help each person discover and embrace their true identity in Christ. From this new perspective the person is better able to
live relationships in a healthy manner. Our message is that we have choices for our lives. We do not have to live under
bondage, negativity, or pain of our past or present. There is a better way - God's way - it works. Counseling services pro-
vided line up with Biblical teachings and point people towards Christ. We use practices that adhere to the highest stan-
dards of professional counseling and align with God’s Word.

This past month has been quite full. We did many new and old activities with the kids. We had Alex DiMatteo
visit, played with a bouncy obstacle course, and used the climbing wall in the YAC. In the middle of the month,
we hosted Spring Break with Kings Kids and many of our youth participated. Each of the Youth Interns wrote
about their experiences with the kids during Spring Break and you can read them below:
In Christ, Your Youth Leaders,
Kristie, Aaron, Adam, Topher, Steven, Pat and Jennie
April 2015—THE ANCHOR—PAGE 3
My favorite part of Spring Break was watching all of our kids pray with and for each other. At the beginning of the week,
they all sat in their seats with bored looks on their faces during ministry time. When I asked the girls what they wanted from
God during Spring Break they all said to hear God’s voice, because they felt like they couldn't. By the end of the week, they
kids were in the front during ministry time getting prayed for, crying because they felt God's presence and they were praying
for each other. It was amazing to witness. This week really built a community among the kids, they continuously wanted to
sit and be around each other during meals and free time. It was incredible.
This spring break outreach was fantastic. Through all the craziness and tiredness we as a youth group pulled through, and we
came together to reach out to the people of El Paso. Through all our activities we grew in our friendships with each other.
Every day we laughed obnoxiously loud, we talked deeply and seriously, and we worshiped God to our fullest. Our favorite
part was mealtimes, but not just because we got to eat, but because all of the kids from our youth group wanted to sit together.
We always had an overly full table, but kids just kept pulling up chairs to sit in our group. It was an absolute blast to be able
to connect and reach out with the youth group for a whole week .
Kristie Aaron
Adam
This was my fifth spring break, but my first as a St. Clements youth intern; even though I have done spring break outreach
many times, this one was my favorite! I really enjoyed bonding with the youth group and see God work in their lives during
the week, and doing all the different outreaches with them and seeing them step out of their comfort zone and do something
they had never done before. One of my favorite outreaches was when we got to be with Ciudad Nueva, and it was great! We
got to do skits and I got to teach some of youth group guys and some of the Ciudad Nueva guys to play chess. It was a really
great outreach, and I know God did a ton in my heart and in the hearts of the kids!

Our Monday Ladies Night Bible
study will be starting a new 7
week study on Monday, April 12th.
We will be studying the Priscilla
Shirer DVD series titled
"Discerning the Voice of God:
How to recognize when God
speaks." Through this study you
will become familiar with God’s
Holy Spirit, His character, lan-
guage, and tone of voice. If you
are interested in joining us for this
study, please contact Virginia at
740-2557.
Many thanks to the loving people of St. Clements
who gave so generously to keep those in Creel
(the Tarahumara Indians) warm with the beautiful
new and used blankets. We were able to get close
to 100 and many who have already received some
were so very grateful. It was reported to still be
very cold in the mountains where they live and in
a few weeks we shall post pictures of these people
receiving your blankets. The money you gave
went directly to purchase blankets for these people
whose needs for food and warmth are so great. It
is with grateful hearts that we thank you for this
blessing. Elizabeth Feuille, Mission Board.
One of the pleasures of being your Parish librarian is hearing speakers we admire speak of books which are their favorites, and knowing that we have many of them in the St. Clement library. Recently, at the women's retreat, the following books were recommended by the speakers: Hinds Feet on High Places, The Practice of the Pres-ence of God, No Greater Love (by Mother Teresa), Celebration of Discipline, The Weight of Glory, The Chronicles of Narnia, With Christ in the School of Prayer, The Holiest of All, The Great Di-vorce, Space Trilogy by CS Lewis, The Weight of Glory, The Dean's Watch, My Ut-most for His Highest, Streams in the De-sert, The Heavenly Man, The Prodigal God, End of the Spear, Through the Gates of Splendor, The Hiding Place, Joni, Mere Christianity, Jesus Calling, The Cost of Dis-cipleship, The Way of the Heart, and Experiencing God. At a recent Daugh-ters of the Holy Cross meeting, Fr. Cobb mentioned the following: Simply Je-sus, Prayer: Experiencing God and Intimacy with God, Prodigal God, The Rule of St. Benedict, My Utmost for His Highest, The Rest of God, The Cost of Discipleship.
We have ALL of these wonderful books, waiting for you! Please come in and check them out! Anne Walker and your Library

Spring Break Outreach
This spring break was great! We had many kids from elementary and middle school come to participate in the activities. Two high schoolers, Gustavo and Karina, came to help the Kings Kids volunteers lead. Each day, we did a different game and craft. We had a photo booth, duct tape crafts, and a spa day among other activities. Alongside that, there was a daily devotion and conversation about the bible reading. By the end of the week, many of the kids were really getting into the readings and using their bibles to find the verses. It was a wonder-ful week enjoyed by many kids and volunteers.
