Aging for 3 lifelong learning edu-tainment music classes.
Scheduled for February
I Hate Music...and other Leonard Bernstein Stories: Tuesday, February 13, 1-2 pm. This local born composer is
one of the famous musicians’ in American History. Pianist Sarah Toxler of the South Shore Conservatory,
Duxbury, discusses Bernstein's path to fame through the music we know and love, including “West Side Story.”
Doors open at 12:45 with light refreshments.
Watch for these in March: The Final and 3rd lifelong learning music program Author series, New
health and wellness classes!
March 8th, Author Series Opening Night, Casey Sherman and Dave Wedge, authors of the Ice Bucket Challenge
and the story of Pete Frates, will talk about the truly inspirational story of Frates who was a man at war with his
own body. His love for others was unshakable and he refused to fight alone. In doing so he mobilized a
global army to combat one of the most devastating diseases on earth: ALS, or Lou Gehrig’s disease. Half of the
authors’ proceeds will go to the Frates family. Sign up early!
March 15th, Author Marie Fricker will talk about her book, All in My Head: How a Hypochondriac Beat Brain
Cancer. Truly the story of a survivor, 55 year old Fricker was a lifelong hypochondriac who was diagnosed with
an inoperable brain tumor. She was treated with chemotherapy and went into remission but was given only a 20
percent chance of surviving five years without a recurrence. Eight years later, the author tells her story with a wry
humor that sheds light into the dark abyss of battling a catastrophic disease.

her renowned psychologist father. But she never met him, and he never acknowledged her until after his
death, when he left her his mortgage-free townhouse in Boston's upscale Beacon Hill. Casey has every in-
tention of selling it and reaping a sizable nest egg, but circumstances cause her to linger. When she discov-
ers writings about a young woman named Jenny Clyde among her father's belongings, she is determined to
find out more about Jenny and to understand the father she never knew. Call 781-585-0511 to arrange to get
a copy!

We are currently in the process of updating our newsletter mailing list. Please let us know by
March 15th if you would still like to get the newsletter mailed to your home. The newsletter
mailing is quite costly each month and it would be helpful for those of you who are here on a
regular basis to pick one up and save us money each month. Please notify the front office at
781-585-0511, ONLY if you still need to receive the newsletter at home.
Elders at Risk If you are concerned about a family member, friend, or neighbor, please do not hesitate to call and speak to our
Director Paula. Calls are confidential.
General Questions If you have questions about other services we offer such as, Fuel Assistance Applications, Housing Applications,
SNAP , Assisted Living or Skilled Nursing Facilities or Home Health Options. Please call the outreach staff for
confidential help filling out an application at 781-585-0511.
Director's Corner Communication: Webster’s dictionary defines the word as, “the act or process of using words, sounds, signs, or
behaviors to express or exchange information or to express your ideas, thoughts, feelings, etc., to someone else”.
It can be tricky at times, especially in this faceless age of technology with texting, FaceBook, Email and other
written forms. It becomes difficult to express emotion properly and sometimes very easy to offend without that
being the intention. The staff and I are trying hard to communicate important information for you by using many
forms of communication. Sometimes word of mouth is not the best way to get your information, so if you have
questions, go straight to the source for clarity. The staff and I will get you answers. We hope you are enjoying
some of the new changes to our monthly newsletter. We still have a few more adjustments to make, but feel we
are heading in the right direction.
Our monthly COA Advisory Board meetings are very fun and informative. These meetings are held at the Town
House in Room 200 on the second Tuesday of every month. The board and I would love to see you there to join in
on the conversation!
Please be safe during this cold and flu season. Paula
