“So do not be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows,” says the gospel. This may be one of my favorite scriptural quotes. It gives a true sense of comfort and security that someone is watching for us, that God is watching for us. It is wonderful to know that the Creator of heaven and earth, the Redeemer of the world, and the Spirit of Consolation is not too busy as to ignore us.

And why is this? Why does God bother with us mortal, finite creatures? The answer is simple. God, through the mystery of Incarnation dipped His finger into our humanity so that we can all be saved. God knows, first hand, in His beloved Son what it means to be fragile, what it means to be vulnerable, what it means to be human. He became one of us!

In Jesus, God visited His people and experienced hunger, joy, pain, and eventually the glory of resurrection, so that we may experience hunger, joy, pain, and eventually the glory of the heaven. In the same way God has touched us in our humanity we must touch Him in His divinity. But where do we start? We start in proclaiming His plan of salvation for the world, His gospel. We become messengers of God’s divine plan with our lives.

You are precious in the eyes of our Lord. Do not be afraid, when we are in a dysfunctional relationship. Do not be afraid, when our health is threatened. Do not be afraid, when we are experiencing economical difficulty. Therefore, in the face of death we choose life, in the face of sickness we seek healing, in the face of desperation we choose hope.

It is hope and our trust in God what delivered the Israelites from the hands of Pharaoh. It was faith in Jesus and his message what allowed a group of first believers not to give up in light of persecution, as many became the first martyrs of the Church. This apostolic action of preaching the good news started 2,000 years ago and will continue until the ends of time.

We must not give up. We must make our mission to proclaim our Father’s love for humanity and never fail in carrying our task. We must make a vow of trust and abandonment in the Lord. If the word of God is to free us from our fears and hesitations, then we must pray for courage so that we can overcome our fears and deepen our convictions. Remember St. Aloysius you are far worth than a hand full of sparrows. Fear not. God is our strength.

Esta expresión nos da un sentido de apoyo y seguridad de que alguien está velando por nosotros, de que Dios nos está cuidando. Es maravilloso el saber que el Creador del cielo y de la tierra, el Redentor del mundo y el Espíritu de Consolación no está tan ocupado como para ignorarnos.

¿Y porque? ¿A qué se debe que Dios se preocupe por nosotros, criaturas mortales y finitas? La contestación es sencilla. Dios a través del misterio de la Encarnación con Su dedo infinito tocó nuestra humanidad para que todos fuésemos salvados. Dios sabe en Su Hijo Jesucristo lo que significa el ser frágil, ser vulnerable, vivir como un ser humano. ¡Él se convirtió en uno como nosotros!

En Jesús, Dios visitó su pueblo y experimentó en carne propia el hambre, la alegría, el dolor y eventualmente la

gloria de la resurrección para que nosotros experimentemos el hambre, la alegría, el dolor y eventualmente la gloria del cielo. De la misma manera en que Dios nos ha tocado en nuestra humanidad, nosotros debemos

tocarle en Su divinidad. ¿Pero dónde comenzamos? Comenzamos proclamando Su plan de salvación para el mundo, Su evangelio. Nos convertimos en mensajeros del plan divino de Dios con nuestras vidas. Eres precioso a los ojos de nuestro Señor. No tengas miedo, cuando estamos en una relación disfuncional. No tengas miedo, cuando nuestra salud se ve amenazada. No tengas miedo, cuando estamos experimentando dificultades económicas. Luego entonces, a la luz de la muerte

optamos por la vida, a la luz de la enfermedad optamos por la sanación, a la luz del desespero optamos por la esperanza. Fue la esperanza y la confianza en Dios las que

liberaron a los Israelitas de las manos del Faraón. Fue la fe en Cristo y su mensaje los que permitieron a un grupo de creyentes el no dejarse vencer en la persecución al convertirse en los primeros mártires de la Iglesia. Esta acción apostólica de predicar la buena nueva comenzó hace 2,000 años y continuará hasta el final de los tiempos.

No nos podemos rendir. Tenemos que hacer nuestra misión de proclamar el amor de Dios por la humanidad y no debemos desfallecer. Debemos de hacer una promesa de confianza y abandono en el Señor. Si la palabra de Dios nos libera de nuestros temores y titubeos, entonces tenemos que orar por valor para poder sobrepasar nuestros miedos y profundizar en nuestras convicciones. Recuerda San Luis Gonzaga que tú vales más que dos pajarillos por una moneda. No temas, Dios es nuestra fuerza.

REOPENING UPDATE Hello St. Aloysius Gonzaga family, Good news…our parish is approved to celebrate Baptisms, Reconciliation, weddings and funerals, as well as Eucharistic Adoration and private prayer. Our staff and team of volunteers have been working hard to keep everyone’s well-being – both physical and spiritual – the foremost priority in all that we do. It has been wonderful to see so many people stepping forward to put their time and energy toward keeping our St Aloysius Gonzaga family strong during this time. We are working on the necessary steps to resume Sunday Masses, which we anticipate by the end of summer. We appreciate your patience and understanding and encourage you to continue worshipping with us online on Facebook and/or St. Aloysius Knights of Columbus YouTube channel. Also, please know of the many ways to engage in prayer and grow in discipleship with us by including our parish in your daily prayers and petitions and dedicating the rosary in our name. Did you know? St. Aloysius Gonzaga Food Pantry with the help of the Greater Chicago Food Depository and our wonderful volunteers serves approximately 100 families each week. You can make a weekly contribution to our parish family and keep the vital ministries and services we provide going. It is clear to me the need for community – and within that word, unity – is being expressed in powerful ways.
