    BRINGING NSIT TOGETHER

    THE ALLIANCE

he pivotal role that Resonanz our intra college

annual estival plays in the metamorphosis o aresher rom a naive school goer to a street smartcollege kid cannot be overstated simply because it is theirrst ever college estival. But the burning question hereis whether Resonanz13 made the mark or was it justanother slug est.

So while some events in Resonanz13 really transcended

our expectations, the rest let us disenchanted and un-happy to say the least.

Hits :Te Crescendo perormance was an aural treat. Te setlistwas o a pretty good taste and they pulled it o wonder-

ully well. Te auditorium was roaring with thunderous

applause and we could eel the ground vibrating underour eet. What a wonderul way to kickstart Resonanz13.

Rangmanch, our inter branch dance competition was alsoa great success. o see so much talent and enthusiasmwas really overwhelming. Te reshers and sophomoresreally put in a lot o eort and it denitely showed. Fromsemi-classical to hip-hop to break dance and some MJ in-spired dance, there was an array o styles to be seen onstage. Kudos to the perormers.

Now, coming on to the small-scale events, sadly the num-ber o events were cut down to almost one hal o lastyears but that didnt dampen the reshers enthusiasm. Some major crowd pullers were Te GolGuppa party ( orobvious reasons), the tug o war, beg borrow steal, Kara-

oke and reasure Hunt. It was great to see the resherss-campering all over the campus prancing rom one venueto another. Tis is one experience which every NSIiancarries with him or the rest o his lie. Aterall, the joy owinning a dart board contest or Dumb Charades is un-matched or.

Misses :Unortunately, the much awaited Natyamanch was a ma-jor let down. Unimaginative scripts with vulgar, double-meaning dialogues laced with derogatory comments re-ally put o the mood. Te plays let quite a lot o peopleagitated and angry. However, ECEs winning perormancewas the saving grace o the entire show. Funny scenarioswith witty dialogues and great acting sent the crowd roll-ing with laughter.

Te literary events too couldnt quite live up to the expec-tations. But this was only because they couldnt attractmuch crowd, and this isnt really surprising. Events likedebates, extempore, and group discussions always take ahit during a cultural estival. With so many other exciting, innovative and engaging events on ones plate, a standardgroup discussion or a debate usually takes a back seat.Despite the highs and lows o this est, the one thingthat goes undisputed is that the stars o this est werenot only the organizers who put in their body and soulin this est, but also the high-spirited, zealous rst years.Teir enthusiasm and willingness to participate has reallyreawakened hopes o restoring our ests to their ormerstandard and glory. Bravo reshers!

OVerall OrganizatiOnFirst-time organizers, loads o qualms about their capabilities; this Reso team set allsuch doubts at rest. Initial allotment hassles and general conusion raged high, butalls well that ends well. Te core team had zealous members, good co-ordinationand lots o participation rom their side which worked excellently to pull o the est.Kudos to the team!Vc: Tumb Up!

CrOwd and PartiCiPatiOnTe enthusiastic reshers are given all the credit under this genre. Tough certainevents saw poor participation (due to lack o inormation or coinciding timings),the mega events were a sure hit! Auditorium was packed with enthused audienceto cheer or all the spirited perormances, be it the inauguration or the events ingeneral. Moksha ground had sparse crowd, but participation was overall average. On the whole, the crowd and the participation in certain events out-did the others!Vc: Mh!

lOgistiCsBarring the auditorium, logistics wasnt a plus point o this event. In the absenceo admin as one o the venues, the moksha ground could have been better utilized.Availability o rooms was not much o problem due to careul planning and delega-tion o events.Vc: Tumb do!

CreatiVity in OrganizatiOn and eVentsSome clichd events were given interesting twists this time. Te art and creativeteam worked hard and it showed. Inspite o it all, staple events still continued sanstwists or variations. Te est did see some amazing creative works, be it in the ormo dance or ashion, but at the same time some events remained stagnant in termso innovating nave ideas.Vc: Mh!

Mega eVentsNatyamanch, Rangmanch, Fashion Parade and DJ night, as promising as these eventsare in every est, they (this year too) were the most awaited events. Rangmanch sawsome amazing perormances. Natyamanch (barring the vulgarity) pulled o somegood amateur work. Fashion parade too was a success with great music and show-cases.Vc: Tumb Up!

    Mega eVents deFine resOnanz 13

Te heart and soul o the Resonanz 2013, its MEGA events were greeted by a jam packed main auditorium.

rmch: Te dance esta witnessed dierent branches perorming on a medley o popular songs. Te crowd went wild and some couldnt evenresist joining in. Te event was a major success with the COE department placing rst, ECE second, and B third.B Fm dc: Akansha, B, 2nd yearB m c: Ayudh, COE, 1st year

Pch: Te inter-branch ashion extravaganza saw students walking down the ramp to a host o crowd-pleasing numbers. Ethnicround and Party round later, ECE branch emerged as the winner while I came a close second. On the whole, the event was a letdown- not ullling its potential.B m mo: Mayank Sharma, ECE, 2nd yearB fm mo: Kavya Singh, I, 2nd year

nmch: Albeit a hit with the crowd, the inter-branch skit competition had a lot o genuinely cringe worthy moments. Most o the skits were just vulgar euphemisms put together and I and B even got disqualied or taking the indecency tooar. ECE, with its skit depicting the journey o rst years at NSI, was the deserving winner while COE was placed second.B m: Vipul, ECE & Ankur, COE

    M. & M. ro: Tis event kicked o with 5 boys and 5 girls, all coveting the elusive Mr. and Ms. Reso crowns. Te rstround was an introduction and talent round, while in the second, the contestants were given a situation to enact. Only

three participants each made it to the nal personal interview round. While the event in its entirety was denitely a suc-cess, at times the personal interviews got a bit too personal.M. ro: Vasudha Khare, ECEru up: Vijaylakshmi Pal, COEM. ro: Navtej, ICEru up: Priyank Khattar,COE

Trough the keyhole: A sneak-peek into Reso 13

From the eyes o a rst timer, surely Resonanz 13 livedup to its hype and produced some exhilarating peror-mances over the past ew days. It is not possible to havea college est without any drama and Reso13 was no di-erent. So or those who missed this years event or werepartying somewhere else, here are a ew inside storiesrom behind the scenes.

Although it was scheduled that there would be 35+ events, excluding the 6 Mega events (which was a number waylower compared to 60 last year), the Moksha grounds sawa very disappointing response, courtesy a two-day estunlike the three-day versions rom the past years, whichled to all mega events being conducted back to back andthe crowd gravitating to the main Auditorium. Moreover, the act that these small events clashed with all the Megaevents just made it worse or the event-organizers lead-ing to scrapping o o events at a large scale. All said anddone, the 6 Mega events dened Resonanz 13 and over-shadowed all the aws. It was denitely commendablethat the hardworking core team o the est put up a bril-liant est in less than a weeks notice post mid-semesterexaminations.

Te est kicked o with the eternal inter-branch battle odances, Rangmanch. It was a well ought battle with COE

and ECE besting the rest o the teams. But what took usby surprise was the crowd which seemed to take the Reso-nance motto a little too literally - Young, Wild and Free.Te Auditorium seats trembled as a part o the crowdound it very difcult to warm their comortable seats asthey went on dancing without a care about the cheers andjeers and it was the godly presence o Dr Bhatia and thesecurity team which showcased their repower in keep-ing a check on the run o things.

NSI is a unny world in its own and there are always

two sides o the story. While Panache saw enormous par-ticipation rom all the branches with ECE and I takingthe crown, the music was a huge letdown. It was difcultor the crowd to tolerate the event as the music or a part

o it was the same or three branches. On an even morecontroversial note, COE branch was ousted rom the racedue to a little stunt that had cans being broken on theshirtless COE brawns. Even though it received oohs and

aahs rom the jeering crowd, the stunt did not go alongvery well with the revered judges, probably because oreasons o saety o the people and the act that it set abad example or the uture organizers and participants.

Yet another surprise or NSI-ians came when the event,Mr and Ms Reso was graced by a pass-out, our very ownGolden girl- Avni Jain, currently working with GoldmanSachs. Tough she was present in college or some per-sonal errands, she was overwhelmed when asked to be apart o the Judges panel. Tats the charm o our ests, you are attracted to them even ater you leave college.

Amidst all the un and rolic, i there is anyone who canportray that words can move mountains, it should beonly Saumya Gupta, 4th year, ECE as he swept us o oureet with his words and blew our minds o with his amaz-ing rhymes, yet again. Saumya Gupta gave a romantic an-gle to an NSI-ians lie story with his new poem - Khudkotha main Ranbir samajhta, wo Katrina si lagti thi... It wasappreciated wholeheartedly by the crowd.

As the est was coming to an end with the DJ night, while the music wasnt too loud at 9:10-9:15 PM, it wasenough or NSI standards, or so elt the Security team.We were acquainted with the amiliar ace o Mr. Hawa

Singh, Head o Security o NSI and to our astonishment, the amazing (NO!) DJ, DJ Karan, invited him on stageand smiles were passed all around. However, the coreteams eorts in the lighting and the music systems mustbe appreciated as their quality improved maniold romlast time.

Resonanz13 came to an end with aaj toh feel hi aa gayi echoing in the college corridors. It seems that the spirito Reso13- Young, Wild and Free was upheld by the reshblood in the truest sense.

Khud ko tha Ranbir samajhta, woh Katrina si lagti thi!

Zayka pe thi aankhein mili,Central fountain pe takraar hua,

    Admin pe tha kiya ijhaar,

Jab nesci pe mujhe pyaar hua!

    Aayi thi batch mein mere,

Ek ladki bholi bhali si,2 saal ke sukhe ped pe,

    Maano fulo ki daali si!

    Use dekhne ke chakkar mein,

Main Khan ka juice peeta gya,

Hoga isi ke sath Resonace,Yeh khwaab main seeta gya!

Par dekh rahe the khade yaar kamine,

Ki kya aage yeh badh paega,

Mujhe wahi khada dekh ke bole,

    Beta, tumse na ho paega!

Is Wasseypur mein Faizal ki, jeet kaha ruk sakti thi,

    Khud ko tha Ranbir samajhta,

    Woh Katrina si lagti thi!

Connecting block ki chhat se usey,Maine ED room mein dekha tha,

    Uske side view ko maine,

    Aankhon mein sameta tha,

Kaash hota us din mai uske geometry box mein,

1H pencil ko uske hontho se lagte dekha tha!

Aashiqui ke chakkar mein saali ab ED bhi easy lagti thi,

    Khud ko tha Ranbir samajhta

    Woh Katrina si lagti thi!

Jab diya usne class mein answer,Main uski aawaaz mein kho gaya,

Transistor diode ka toh pata nahi,

Par main forward biased ho gaya!

Ab toh uski EEE rank bhi, khud se achi lagti thi

Khud ko tha Ranbir samajhta,Woh Katrina si lagti thi!

    Usse Hazra Chaudhary padh ke,

Main khud ki foundry bhool gaya,

Welding karne uski meri,Main usko lekar Amul gaya!

Relativity ki equations bhi ab toh samajh aane lagi,

Jo usne padhayi Physics mujhe, main anti-gravity jhool gya!

Ab toh humari jodi mujhe Jaggi Mathur si lagti thi,

    Khud ko tha Ranbir smjhta,

    Woh katrina si lagti thi.

Kaisi jaa rahi hai zindagi, kaisa beeta week yeh!

Lag rahi thi tum udaas, kya koi takleef hai!

Saari kaynaat palat gyi jab uska reply yeh aaya,

Na aisi koi baat hai, na koi takleef haiHostel mein bas tum nahi, baaki sab thik hai!

Ajab prem ki gazab kahaani ab toh shuru ho gyi,

My Reso Story: Lights, Camera, Action!gaUtaM KUMar sHarMa, COe, BatCH OF 2017

A conuence o emotions, a blast o colors, a urry oactivity, a spirit o competitiveness with imprints orivolity, innuendos and jubilation, ecstatic and bliss-ul moments, the hysterical rush o people, the renzieddelight on their aces, verve and vigor emerging rom

all sides, the enchanting and serenading music, the en-thralling orms o art, the panic stricken sanguine aceso the organizers, the towering crowd outside the audi-torium, the hoots and boisterous laughter reverberatingrom every nook and cranny or in a single word Reso-nanz 2013. Resonanz, the intra-college est o Netaji

Subhas Insititue o echnology (NSI), the two day ex-travaganza, was all glory and merriment.

Organized ater the mid-semester exams, Resonanztruly proved itsel benecial in lightening the moods ostudents, especially the reshers. With the thrummingo the musical instruments, the tension melted awaygiving way to bliss and tranquility. Te ormulae o Phys-ics and Mathematics died away giving birth to the newdance steps we learned in Rang Manch. Te dialogueso some extremely endowed artists o Natya Manchdisplaced the chapters o Humanities. Te plethora oevents organized by the 1st year students really invokeda spirit in me which I had never seen beore.

On the rst day o Resonanz, events like poetry writing(which later became an online event), Te Great reasure

hunt, Kheecha taani, the Golgappa battle, Sound Quakereally had me in awe. Te ash mob, denitely the rstI saw, was so rejuvenating. But the cherry on top o thecake was the Fashion Parade which just blew me away.On the concluding day, Dumb Charades, Bottles all theway, ambola, Eat-o-mania, debates, and o course Mr.

and Miss Reso certainly had me engaged. And how canI orget the DJ night! It was just amazing, somethingintense, overwhelming.

Te experience in Resonanz 2013 was a watershed osorts. It had high points and very high points, a devia-tion rom the drab and monotonous college lie. It wouldbe inappropriate i I dont appreciate the eorts put inby the organizers. Kudos to the organizers or it is dueto their labors that Resonanz 2013 became such a hugesuccess. Even though the event is now over and the tedi-ous college lie will resume soon, music beats still echoin my ears. I am still swooning with the perormers oRang Manch and the articulation o Natya Manch stillreverberates in my mind. I am waiting or another suchevent, waiting or salvation, waiting enthusiastically, waiting with awe, hungry or more.
