The priority point system was implemented in 1987. It is intended to promote fairness, create new solicitation opportunities, benefit the entire Institute, reward the loyalty of our longtime supporters, and accommodate individual circumstances.

A-T Unrestricted, Athletic Director’s Initiative Fund, and/or Facility Initiatives(Cash – 2 points per $100.)Pledge example: $25,000 pledge will receive ½ point per $100 on pledge and 1 ½ points per $100 on each pledge payment, if paid at a minimum of annual equal installments over a maximum five-year period. Total points upon completion of pledge = 500.

The TECH Fund (Cash – 1 point per $100. Pledges not accepted.)(Tradition, Education, Character, and Heart) is a per-seat giving program for preferred seats in Bobby Dodd Stadium and McCamish Pavilion. Gifts to the TECH Fund will be used to support the annual operational costs associated with sustaining a highly competitive athletics program at Georgia Tech. This includes contributions for suites, courtside seats for basketball, and club seats for football.

Restricted Athletic (Cash – 1 point per $100. Pledges not accepted.)Sport-specific and/or gift restriction not mentioned above.

Georgia Tech fans have always demonstrated passion and loyalty in their support of athletics. Annual unrestricted gifts to the A-T Fund directly support our student-athletes by funding their annual scholarship costs, which is A-T’s primary goal. Annual giving levels with benefits enable the Alexander-Tharpe Fund to reward existing donors as well as recruit new ones. All gifts and/or pledge payments to A-T, which are used primarily for the purpose of paying for student-athlets’ scholarships, will count toward a donor’s annual giving level. The A-T giving year begins on July 1 and ends on June 30. Gifts to the TECH Fund, sport-specific gifts, gifts-in-kind, other pledge payments, and credits for points such as those used for insurance premiums do not count toward A-T annual levels of support.

Endowed scholarship funds help provide the resources necessary to attract talented student-athletes to Georgia Tech in perpetuity. An endowment fund may be named for the donor or for someone the donor chooses to honor. Endowed scholarship funds are invested with the Georgia Tech Foundation (GTF) and earn income in per-petuity for scholarship support. The established annual payout from each endowment typically follows the guidelines established by the GTF. Earnings and appreciation beyond the payout rate are reinvested into the principal amount of the endowment in an effort to grow the endowment to cover inflation. As of 2011, the Georgia Tech Athletic Association’s scholarship endowment has a current market value of more than $40 million, which generates approximately $2 million annually. This means approximately 30 per-cent of the annual scholarship costs for student-athletes are funded by endowment distributions. An endowment to support a full athletic scholarship can be established with a gift or multi-year commitment of $500,000. An endowed partial scholarship fund can be established at a minimum level of $25,000.

Georgia Tech Athletics Endowed Scholarship Program

An athletic scholarship to Georgia Tech enables a young man or woman to match the full development of his or her athletic potential with the mastery of a challenging academic major at a distinguished university. Such a scholarship also allows coaches to recruit elite student-athletes nationally as they seek those special individuals who will thrive at Georgia Tech.

What is the difference between giving to A-T and giving to the TECH Fund?Answer: Gifts to the TECH Fund are gifts that are made as part of a per-seat donation program for preferred football and basketball seating. Gifts to A-T are all other gifts made in support of the Georgia Tech Athletic Association including but not limited to: gifts for unrestricted current opera-tions; scholarship support; sport-specific support; and facility construction and renovation.

Will gifts to the Tech Fund count toward maintaining my consecutive years of support to A-T? Answer: You maintain consecutive years of support by making an annual gift to A-T or by making a TECH Fund donation through the purchase of season tickets. Gifts to A-T provide the donor with additional benefits not available for TECH Fund donations.

If I continue purchasing my season tickets through the TECH Fund, should I make an additional contribution to A-T?Answer: Making an annual contribution to A-T is beneficial in many ways. First, you would be mak-ing a tax-deductible contribution (typically A-T unrestricted gifts are 100 percent deductible and gifts to the TECH Fund are 80 percent deductible) to support and strengthen Georgia Tech athletics. Second, based upon the amount of your donation, you would receive numerous amenities (see Annual Giving Levels). Third, unrestricted gifts to A-T receive 2 points per $100 as opposed to 1 point per $100 for gifts to the TECH Fund.

What are priority points?Answer: Priority points are the means by which we implement requests for season ticket changes, assign and allocate tickets for all postseason events, and assign and allocate season parking pass-es. Gifts to A-T are the quickest way to accumulate points (see Priority Point Designations for more detailed information).

Why are A-T priority points important?Answer: Football and men’s basketball season ticket relocation requests, season parking requests, football away game and postseason tickets, and men’s basketball ACC Tournament and NCAA Tournament tickets are all allocated in A-T priority point order. Every point counts!

When should I make my A-T gift?Answer: The A-T giving year starts on July 1 and ends on June 30. Some annual giving benefits are immediately distributed (e.g. giving level-specific auto decals), while others are available in the following giving year (e.g. name recognition in game day programs).

What are the costs to fund a full in-state or out-of-state student-athlete scholarship for one aca-demic year?Answer: For the 2009-10 academic year, each in-state full student-athlete scholarship cost the Athletic Association $17,924. For an out-of-state student-athlete scholarship, it was $36,134.
