September was a great month to celebrate the Albany Senior Center. The Friends (FOAS) helped to fund the beautiful new floor. The center looks bigger! Everyone pitched in for the World Fair and Open House. We so appreciate the ASC staff and all volunteers who make it happen for everyone. FOAS is seeking volunteers for City Horse Bingo evenings (Tuesdays) at Golden Gate Fields. Just a few hours working a Bingo night brings a nice donation from City Horse for the Center. Talk to Zion about the event or come to the next FOAS meeting on Monday October 7th at 11:30. Congratulations to our very own Margie Marks named Albany Citizen of the Year by the Chamber of Commerce. What an honor!

Albany Senior Travel Troupe
The latest September trips led the seniors to the Golden Gate Theater to see the Broadway Musical –
Anastasia. Exquisite costumes, lyrical music and dance filled the theater with the epic journey of a brave
young women to discover the mystery of her past. The dahlias were in peak bloom at the Conservatory of
Flowers and the seniors enjoyed learning about the history of the building and tropical flowers in the docent
tour (see photos). The seniors stayed hydrated with water on the Petaluma summery excursion for lunch at a
variety of restaurants including Italian, Peruvian fare and the ‘Wild Goat Bistro’. The next stop is High Hill
Ranch in Placerville to explore the apple orchards and of course to taste the fruits of the harvest.
