“Speech to the Second Virginia Convention”
“Speech” was delivered in 1775Patrick Henry urged his fellow Virginians to arm in self-defense, closing his appeal with the immortal words: "I know not what course others may take; but as for me, give me liberty or give me death."
He was dissatisfied with the federal constitution and opposed its ratification in 1788. He felt that it gave the general government too much power.
