Mr.CustslandladymadeCustrealizethathehadbeentoeveryplace where there had been a murder. He lost his nerve, but felt that he had to go because it was his duty.
At Doncaster, Franklin followed Mr. Cust to a cinema. When the film was over, he stabbed a man in the row in front, and when Mr. Cust passed by, wiped some blood on hissleeveandslipped the knife into his pocket. He didn’t mind choosing a victim whose name didnt begin with D. It would be considered to be a mistake.
Mr. Cust went to his room and found blood and the knife in his pocket. Because of his blanks he obviously believed he was the killer! While washing his hands, the maid opened the door and saw him. That is why the maid called Inspector Tiger.
Even though all the evidence pointed to Mr. Cust something just didn’t add up and the Inspector Tiger of coursewouldnotletitgo until she had revealed the real true identity of the ABC murders!
