The Six Dimensions of Wellness

While much emphasis has been placed on diet and exercise, total wellness is dependant upon many other factors. According to an article in Healthy Thoughts, there are six dimensions to total wellness we all should consider:

· Emotional: Be aware of and accept your feelings. · Intellectual: Expand your knowledge and skills · Physical: Know appropriate types of food and exercise. · Social: Create and maintain healthy relationships. ·Spiritual: Actively seek meaning and purpose in human existence, developing a strong sense of personal values and ethics. ·Vocational: Determine and achieve personal and occupational interests.

Dear Colleagues: Saturday, February 21, 2009, is the date for the Atlanta Chapter AGO Student Recital program. No level of proficiency is required, nor is there an age limit. Please consider having your students perform on this program. This is the Chapter's way of encouraging all students in the study of organ.

Please contact Keith Nash by January 31 with the name/s of your student/s who will play and the name of the piece/s to be performed. Contact Keith at Holy Trinity at 404-377-2622 or via e-mail: [email protected].

Thank you for your prompt attention to this. Sincerely, Joyce Johnson, Keith Nash, Sarah Martin Student Outreach Committee

A MESSAGE FROM THE DEAN

It’s Beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas!

Sometime back in September I remember being in a department store and seeing the holiday tree displays going up. I couldn’t believe they would have skipped over Thanksgiving and Halloween to do this. But there they were. It won’t be long before they’ll pre-empt Labor Day, as well. I suppose the merchants don’t want to take a chance on people forgetting about the holidays!

I’ve just returned from a “mini-sabbatical” or vacation trip abroad. It was interesting to note that very little could be seen which hinted at Christmas. Somehow, the rest of the world moves slower in that regard. But musicians, around the world, are surely hard at work on the music for the season. Even if the lights and wreaths aren’t up on public display, I know that all of my colleagues are busy with rehearsals to gear up for the worship services and special concerts.

Many thanks to John Richardson for the great program in November and to Sub Dean Jeff Harbin for hosting that event at St. Brigid’s. And, thanks to you for joining your AGO friends on Saturday, December 28 for the annual holiday party – at the Harbin’s home - and thanks to them for opening their doors to us. It was a nice way to unwind after all the hard work you’ve done to prepare for the holiday season. Happy Holidays!
