1. Status of CJK Activities1. Status of CJK Activities

1. Level of activity

- Continuously move: from information exchange to actual

collaborations (Test-bed, Common Drafting)

- Prior coordination on contributions before the ITU-T

meetings (Ad-hoc activity: NGN and IPTV now)

2. Participation status

- During the CJK meeting: Key technical leaders are there,

but need more participation of technical experts

- During the Ad-hoc activity: Most of technical experts are

there, but always shortage of time (because Ad-hoc

always met just before the day of ITU-T meetings)

2. 2. Impacts of CJK ActivitiesImpacts of CJK Activities

1. CJK become “Majority” in ITU-T now

- In terms of “contributions” and “participants”

- Also become majority in “Editorships with Drafts”

- CJK is now become “Growth Engine” for ITU-T

2. But still need upgrade of CJK capabilities

- Quality of drafts from CJK editors become

serious issue now in ITU-T (in terms of English)

- need tuning between “Quantity and Quality”

“Growth Engine” is OK, but not “Feeding”

2. 2. Impacts of CJK ActivitiesImpacts of CJK Activities

3. Impacts of CJK activity into the Region

- Our region is the region with biggest potential

- CJK is the leading group in the region

- But no practical activities in the region until today

4. Impacts of CJK activity into each countries

- Encourage domestic members’ international activity

- Other impacts: ?

CJK activity is now 4 years old !!!

3. 3. Competence and ContributionCompetence and Contribution

1. Strengthen Competence

- need strengthen CJK experts’ competence for

international activity: Participating, Debating and Drafting

- for this, current Ad-Hoc activity is not enough

- full documentation in CJK should be the basement for

this: strategy and consensus building with descriptions

- taking consideration of followings:

> CJK is standard collaboration entity, not a standard entity

> mostly having difficulties with ETSI/ATIS full documents

Need CJK Full Documents?

3. 3. Competence and ContributionCompetence and Contribution

2. Extend Contributions

- effective contribution to international activity:

Proper Quality and Time (minimize time delay for drafting)

- contribution to the region as a leading group

- contribution to the country bring valuable results

- contribution to prepare interoperability and interconnection

frameworks in CJK (further will include the region)

- encourage CJK industries: Collaboration and competition

How CJK produce its own values?

5. Conclusion5. Conclusion

Promotion of CJK Activities, considering

- portion and role in ITU-T: upgrade of our capability

- leaders in the region: extend our contributions

- impacts within national community: increasing values

Technical Report should be one of the way

- help to upgrade our documentation capabilities

- will be used as contributions for the region

- CJK industries and business players will find another

opportunity (e.g. increasing buying power)
