Pumping Nylon by Scott Tenant has almost reached acult status for guitarists... I think every classicalguitarist that I know has this book on their bookshelf.

This is the guitar method of the renowned 19thcentury guitarist, Matteo Carcassi. If you are abeginner, I don't recommend starting out with thisbook... 19th century guitar technique is a bit archaiccompared to modern technique. However, this is awonderful reference book for more experiencedguitarists:

Emilio Pujol Guitar School
The Emilio Pujol Guitar School is one of the mostfamous guitar methods ever written. Written in theearly 20th century, it gives us an ideo of FranciscoTarrega, Emilio Pujol, and other famous guitaristsfrom that era might have played. Like with otherhistoric guitar methods, I do not recommend thismethod to beginning guitarists.
The Emilio Pujol Guitar School consists of threevolumes. For a long time, this method was onlyavailable in Spanish, however, it is now available inEnglish translation:
