Thanksgiving Thanksgiving Day is a holiday celebrated in the United States on the fourth Thursday in November. The holiday started in 1621, the year after the Pilgrims arrived in Massachusetts. The winter was very cold and many people died. Some indians decided to help them and taught them how to plant corn and other plants. The next automn the Pilgrims a very good harvest and they celebrated with a feast.
