description

This is not really meant for the general public, but for members of the family to access at any time. It is about Sammi's first Thanksgiving at Grandma's house.

THANKSGIVING 2013

(AT GRANDMA CAROL’S HOUSE)

Page 2: Thanksgiving 2013

The children were good, but noisy. (The same could be said for the adults!) Everyone had a blast. Little Sam had a great time discovering the piano! I took tons of pictures, too, of almost everyone. I was really impressed with Ali, who listened to the "rule" of keeping the toys in the "front room", where his toy box is located. The night ended too early (people had to work in the morning), but I did manage to get a kiss from Sammi when she left! She waved "good-bye" to everyone, too.

Today was Thanksgiving. The whole family, sans Julian, showed up. Mom put on a great spread. She made turkey, dressing/stuffing, cabbage rolls, perogies, mashed yams, deviled eggs, sunshine salad (often called Hawaiian delight), and jellied salad.

She also had a tray of fresh vegetables with homemade dip; a tray of pickles and olives; a tray of watermelon, cantaloupe and honeydew melon; and fresh buns. Sour cream was available for the perogies and cranberries were available to accompany the turkey.

For dessert, there were pumpkin and apple pies (courtesy of my sister) with whipped cream, and a strawberry shortcake dessert (courtesy of my almost sister-in-law). Beer, wine, coffee, iced tea and various flavours of pop/soda were available to drink. We put out dishes of candy and chips in the living room on the coffee table, too.

First, we’ll start off with some food….

Then we’ll move to the children – Taryn and Sammi, Caleb and Trinity, and Ali. Dan and Tara made it into one or two pictures, as did Mom and Jan. Charlie kept going outside for a breath of fresh air…so I didn’t get any of him…and Dad left, but made it into a picture with Jacoby at the end of the night. When everyone left, Princess came down to eat.

Warning: Many pictures are blurry due to 1. a crappy phone-camera and 2. everyone moving!

Also, the living room walls are in the process of being cleaned…we ran out of Spray Nine…so could not finish…

Ali made a tunnel with the pillows, then crawled through it. If you look closely, you can see him!

Sammi discovered the piano, and had a great time playing it. She even used her feet! Maybe she’ll be the next Bach or Beethoven!

Creating memories for the children is part of what spending time together as a family is all about. I am very grateful for my family, and for the great dishes that were available to eat. It was a very happy Thanksgiving for us all.
