M1T 2Z3 February 23, 2015 Dear Ms. Augustine, Two hundred and fifty that’s how many children went to Ottawa for Black History month. Four fifteen AM that’s the time my day started on Tuesday, January 27, 2015. Four and a half hours that’s how long the train ride was to Ottawa. Four hundred and fifty that’s the number of kilometers from Toronto to Ottawa. As interesting as these numbers are, the more interesting ones are the ones we don’t know, such as how much money did it cost and how many hours of planning did it take to make this trip possible? Another number I cannot give you is: what is the value of this trip to us as students? Even without these important numbers, I’d like you to pass on a big thank you to our sponsors, Via Rail Canada and The Breakfast Clubs of Canada. I’d also like to thank you for inviting us on this trip and for spending the day with us. It was great that we visited the Parliament Hill as part of Black History month, we toured the building, we went to the RCMP stables and had an amazing experience in general. It was definitely a trip we will all remember for the years to come. It was beneficial to me because when our tour guide was telling us about the parliament it helped me remember information I learned in grade 5, such as the different places in parliament or the different rooms. We actually got to attend the question and answer period in the House of Commons, there the Liberal party and the NDP’S asked questions and the Conservatives answered. It was interesting to see how they acted and what they were saying, although I did fall asleep, but in my defence I did wake up at 4 AM. One thing that was really amazing was the library; it was really cool and designed well. So overall, it was kind of like an interactive revision for me. I also learned new things about the government and parliament too. The trip to Ottawa was definitely a memorable one, so once again, thank you Ms.Jean Augustine for inviting us on this wonderful trip . Sincerly, Hanifa BeniAsaf Grade 7 student
