VARBERG PRAYERLTTER
Thank you so much for your
prayers and generous support!
The building behind us is the staff apartments at Bethel International School. We
live in apartment three which is behind the white car. Three months after the ty-
phoon, we do have new windows but we still live in a home with only a tarp for a
roof, buckets and dippers for bathing, and a generator for electricity. Please for-
give us for the lack of correspondence. I have to drive thirty minutes away to get
good internet.

But with God’s help we were able to open for classes on January 27th
under gen-erator power. We thank God that, despite 90% of our city still being without
power, our campus was connected to national power on January 29th
.
On behalf of the students of Bethel International School, I want to thank all of you who gave generously and sacrificially to help rebuild and re-open our school. Two other typhoons and several tropical storms delayed the shipment
of materials and the repairs to our school.
By February 2nd new roofs were on all of our school buildings.

Of the 288 students we had before Typhoon Haiyan, two died in the storm, 163 have re-turned to our school and the rest are still living in other cities because their homes have not been rebuilt or are still without power. We are excited to be back in the business of training future leaders for the Waray peo-ple and challenging them to trust and obey Jesus.
We still need your prayers as we still don’t have ceilings in half our classrooms, we still lack textbooks and library books, and we still don't have any gyms or places for our students to play sports on rainy days. Please pray that God would continue to provide
the funds to finish rebuilding our school.

Church Continues to Function in a Broken City
For three months our city has not had electricity, and even now only ten percent of our city has
power. More than half the businesses in our city remain closed. But our church continues to chal-
lenge people to trust in Jesus. Please pray that all of our over 100 Life Groups would be able to
start meeting again. Despite still having many damaged buildings some colleges have started hav-
ing classes again. Pray for our youth leaders as we start our youth service this Friday for the first
time since the storm. Pray that word would get out and many would attend.
Rebuilding Members' Homes
Thanks to generous gifts from many of you, we have begun rebuilding homes for our members
who lost their homes during Typhoon Haiyan .

Close to 100 families in our church had their homes badly damaged or completely de-
stroyed.
Because 90% of the homes in our city were damaged it has been very hard to get materi-als. We have had to order materials from other provinces. Thanks to your donations we have helped 14 families repair their homes and are in the process of rebuilding three homes that were completely destroyed. Please pray that we would be able to find
sources for the materials we need to rebuild 80 more homes.

Despite the fact that our city was so badly damaged, we thank God that our family is not dam-
aged, and that we were reunited for the Christmas Holidays.
Thanks for your prayers and support.
