St Joseph’s Primary School Gayndah Newsletter Date Wednesday 14 Oct 2015 Principal’s Letter to Parents 2015 Term Four Week Two Thank You School Officers This week we take the opportunity to say thank you to the backbone of our staff here at St Joseph’s Primary, our classroom and administration school officers. The roles that they fulfil each and every day ensure that our school community is exactly that, a strong and vibrant community. From the production of this newsletter each week to the considerate phone calls for sick students, the warm welcome as you enter the room to the extra time spent providing breakfast for your children in the breakfast club, all ten of our school officers are something special. As a staff we will take time today to personally thank each and every school officer for all that they do but I would like extend the invitation to all the members of our school community to do the same. I’m requesting that each of you in some way find time this week to say thank you in your own special approach. It could be as simple as a passing thank you, a few words in the form of a hand written note or even making time to share what you value most about our school officers by speaking to their greatest qualities in the presence of your child. During the second last P and F meeting for the year it was passed that the committee would commit the remaining levy funds to supporting the refurbishment of the grounds around the new tennis court cover to the sum of $1,400. This contribution would see the senior students of 2015 given the opportunity to help design and open this new space which will see the entrance from Fielding Street receive some much needed beautification whilst introducing elements that will recognise our senior leaders now and into the future. I can’t encourage parents and loved ones enough to come and be a part of our P and F discussions in the near future to ensure that the committee are supporting your child’s education in the best possible ways. Have a great week everyone. Ben

Thank You School Officers This week we take the opportunity to say thank you to the backbone of our staff here at St Joseph’s Primary, our classroom and administration school officers. Catholic Mission The theme of this year’s World Mission Month is… “I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink”

with a special action focus ‘Sock it to poverty in Madagascar’

This year we focus on Madagascar. Although surrounded by water Madagascar lacks access to clean water for washing, cleaning, cooking and most importantly, drinking. This forces the community to use dirty water, which is making them seriously ill. Alarmingly, each year, thousands of children die from preventable diseases like diarrhoea because of the lack of clean water and proper sanitation.

How are we helping Catholic Mission as a Catholic community?
