Shared Governance Updates
Nursing Informatics Council The design of the Menu in the electronic
patient record has been updated. The de-tails will be communicated over the next few weeks as we prepare to make the changes in Production. The goal is to stand-ardize the menu selections, name and order of each section for all nursing positions in ED, ambulatory, perioperative and inpatient areas. This standardization will improve work flow and communication between the nurses in the various areas as well as with providers.
Ticket to Ride: the page is available in the
electronic patient record and the report that will print is with Cerner to build. We will communicate when the report is availa-ble to print.
Clairvia Assignment Manager classes were
held through September 3rd. Charge Nurs-es and clerks were required to at-tend. Starting September 3rd, all patient care assignments are to be completed in Clairvia.
Discharge Instructions: a new section has
been added to to improve return of patient care items at discharge. The patient and the caregiver should initial each applicable line.
IView: the wound assessment and chest
tube section will default to open in the ICU's to facilitate assessment completion.
The next project for the Nursing Informat-
ics Council is to streamline the Ad Hoc fold-ers.
Charting and computer concerns should be
reported to IT at 1-7500. Charting concerns should also be reported via email to [email protected].
Education Council The Education Council has identified a need
for improvement in diabetic education in-
structions and materials, and will make this a focus for 2018.
The Council plans to review the Patient
Family Education policy and develop a sin-gle point lesson.
All modules from HealthStream are in need
of review. Review of ten (10) lessons can be used as a clinical ladder activity! For more information, contact Krista LaRussa, 706-446-5129.
Clinical Ladder The deadline to submit Clinical Ladder In-
tent for the November submission cycle is September 30, 2017. A sample Clinical Lad-der Intent Form is available on PAWS at Nursing > Shared Governance > Nursing Clinical Ladder.
Portfolios are due November 1, 2017. Sub-
mission location will be given with the Let-ter of Intent response.
Mentors will be assigned if requested. Exemplary Professional Practice Council EPP is in the process of researching and
reviewing hospital practice regarding charge nurses with patient assignments.
Work continues on a "No Interruption
Zone" during shift change. This would ap-ply to non-emergent interruptions. Please contact your unit representative for EPP with suggestions or concerns.
Each unit should be represented in all
shared governance committees or coun-cils. See the nursing page on PAWS for more information.
Check with your unit representative for the
new Shared Governance practice model. 3 West ICU has been renamed Neuro
ICU. Expect new signs soon!
