Gwen’s StoryGwen and so many others are receiving the support that they need in order to parent their precious children because of your gifts to Legacy Pregnancy Center. Thank you!!Gwen came to Legacy for a free pregnancy test. She was counseled regarding the three options available to her: abortion, adoption, and parenting. She was divorced, in recovery for substance abuse, and had one child who she was having difficulty parenting and had been reported for child abuse. Although she initially stated that if her pregnancy test was positive, she planned to parent, she also felt that abortion might be a better option.
She wasn’t far enough along for an ultrasound at the time of her positive pregnancy test, but she scheduled an appointment for an ultrasound about a week later. She remarked on the “comfortable surroundings” and felt that the staff members she met were very sensitive and respectful toward her. The nurse talked with her about the Earn While You Learn (EWYL) program and its value to her in parenting her older child. They discussed the abusive incident and what Gwen would have done differently and what specific skills she felt she needed in order to parent effectively and how EWYL could help equip her.
At Gwen’s ultrasound appointment, although she was still very early in her pregnancy, she saw her
baby’s heartbeat pattern. The nurse sonographer prayed with her and the friend who accompanied her before they left. Gwen seemed much more confident about parenting and later called to set up an EWYL appointment the following month.
Although Gwen worked part-time and her boyfriend left her and took their car, she continued to participate in Earn While You Learn and received three more ultrasounds at Legacy. Sometimes a friend drove Gwen to her appointments.
After giving birth to her baby, Gwen continued working and was promoted at her job. Although she experiences some struggles of being a single, working mother, Legacy staff has been able to occasionally connect her to community events and programs that can assist her. Gwen is a very positive person who enjoys parenting very much, as well as encouraging those close to her. She connected with a local church body and is involved with various ministries. She is excited that she has been able to maintain her sobriety even through these last few difficult years and has found a supportive community of friends, co-workers, and believers.
Program CoordinatorThis role serves as an advocate during a client’s initial appointment at Legacy, manages Legacy’s programs and regular program volunteers (Earn While You Learn, childbirth class, Fatherhood, Mommy Group, and Abortion Recovery), and connects clients to available ongoing help and community resources. Hours: approx 20/wk.
Are you a problem-solver committed to excellence and demolishing the “status quo”? Legacy is seeking a prayerful, motivated, compassionate and humble individual to serve as our Program Coordinator, a team member responsible for direct client interaction and using program resources to embrace, encourage, and empower those facing unplanned pregnancies, with a particular focus on the needs of those considering abortion. Ideal candidates will have proven experience in program growth & development, should demonstrate ownership in attaining desired outcomes, and embrace accountability in a team environment. Outstanding interpersonal skills are a must, especially in challenging circumstances. Teachable, intentional, and detail-oriented individuals from a variety of backgrounds are encouraged to apply, particularly with experience in the Human Service fields. A successful candidate will have a working knowledge of mental health concepts such as vulnerability, rapport, professional boundaries, self-awareness, strengths-based interactions, and empathy. Legacy’s staff and board are looking for a professional career person with an ability to make a long-term commitment. Applicants should have a commitment to a local body of Christ.
Interested candidates should drop off a cover letter explaining why they
desire to work at Legacy and a resume in person during Legacy’s office hours
Volunteer Spotlight: roberta SankeyRoberta Sankey moved to Sheridan from Joliet, Montana. Because she volunteered as a Client Advocate at the pregnancy center in Billings (LaVie) for 8 years, she felt that Legacy would be a great place to serve the Lord in her new community. Roberta and her husband, Ike, are rodeo livestock contractors and contract rodeos in the Northwest, including the Sheridan WYO Rodeo.
They have two married children and one grandson.
Roberta has blessed Legacy creating new baby baskets since summer of 2016
Goodbye, BaeleighWhat an incredible experience I have had working at Legacy this past year! During my time here I have learned so much, grown personally and professionally, and made meaningful new relationships. I am so thankful to all of the inspiring women that work at Legacy for their friendship, guidance and support, and I will miss them dearly! You have each taught me so much and nurtured my compassion and desire to help others in the process.
More than anything I want to say how blessed I am to have met so many incredible Legacy clients. Each client has taught me something new and many have left me in awe over their courage, strength and spirit. I will take those lessons with me in this next season of my life and use them to spread hope, compassion and faithfulness.
My next adventure takes me to The University of Denver to complete my Master’s of Social Work. It is bittersweet to leave this wonderful ministry but I do so knowing that Legacy will continue to change lives one mother, father and baby at a time.
God Bless!
Baeleigh McBride
Christmas Hope List Social
Baby Bottle FundraiserIt is Baby Bottle Fundraiser time again. This is our 10th year and people really look forward to participating in this fundraiser and seeing the bottles filled. Last year, over $24,000 was raised from your loose change!
Churches who have previously participated received a partnership form in early January. A church just chooses a date and returns the form! Your church liaison then picks up the bottles and bulletin inserts explaining the fundraiser from Legacy, places them in a prominent place during your fundraising dates, and returns the filled bottles to us 3 weeks later.
Nearly 1300 bottles and 1800+ bulletin inserts leave the Center this season. We are very grateful for the 32 churches and their liaisons who make this possible and would love to include your church this year!
If your church does not currently participate, needs a liaison, or you would like to volunteer during this busy time, please call Legacy at 307-673-4757 to find out how to get involved!

Sponsor A Day Calendar
We are grateful for your investment in the lives of young women, men, and unborn children. The Sponsor a Day program is helping us build a foundational income for the ministry of Legacy.
How does it work? It costs about $600 a day to run Legacy, so a partner that donates $50 a month ($600 year) is sponsoring one day of operations at the Center. A partner that donates $25 a month ($300 year) sponsors a half day of operations.
Partners who donate $25 or more a month, get to have a date of their choosing dedicated to their family. Thank you for your generous support of this ministry!

Donating with matching funds
Did you know? Your employer may match all or some of your charitable contributions! Check with your company’s HR department to inquire and for details regarding amounts, etc. Some programs cut a check if an employee volunteers a certain amount of hours. EMIT Technologies allows employees to nominate organizations for its community reinvestment program.
Here are some local employers with a matching gift program. If you know of more, please contact us!
Legacy’s Endowment
Making a lasting gift has never been easier! Legacy partnered with Frontier Asset Management for our Endowment Fund because of the ability to provide an opportunity for people to leave larger gifts to Legacy, yet invest the funds in a manner that aligns with our values:
“Through our Christian Worldview strategies at Frontier, we provide the opportunity for biblically responsible investing which empowers the Christian to support companies that seek to uphold Biblical values and to avoid companies that don’t. We scrutinize each fund to determine their involvement in abortion, pornography, anti-family entertainment, non-biblical lifestyle, tobacco, gambling, and alcohol. This financial product allows us to invest in companies that uphold the views and values of our Christian clients.”
Donating to Legacy’s Endowment
Choose a donation option: cash, stock transfer, or 1. estate planning.
Contact Crystal (Advancement Director) to receive 2. endowment donation instructions at 307-673-4757.
Giving Opportunities
Save the Date: walk for Life Saturday, June 8thWould you like to help sponsor the Walk? Your name or business will be included on the back of our Walk shirt, in our Press thank you, and newsletter following the event.
The clients you read about in our newsletter are only a small percentage of the nearly 600 clients that Legacy has served since we opened in 2009. Nearly 400 babies have been born in our community and more are due between now and the Walk! When you invite your family and friends to get involved with God’s work at Legacy by encouraging them to make a small donation to sponsor you as a Walker for Life, you impact people like Gwen, right here in the Sheridan & Johnson county area. The average walker raises $180, so everyone doing a small part truly makes a difference!
Consider joining (or starting) a Walk team at your church. Last year, walkers raised over $23,000! These funds help women and men in our community not only to choose life, but to develop the confidence and skills to become the best parent they can be, or choose the best parents possible for their child by making an adoption plan.
Easy-going 2-mile walk, starting and ending at •Legacy Pregnancy Center.Registration starts at 9 a.m. Walk starts at 10 •a.m. and most walkers finish by 10:45.No need to collect money—Legacy sends pledge •reminders to your sponsors.$200 in pledges earns a Walk t-shirt.•Can’t walk that day?
