What’s Love Got To Do With It? – Save The Date:

You’re invited to an interactive, three-part class on social justice that begins on Sunday, January 13th and

continuing on January 20th and 27th in Meeting Room 1, 9:45 am - 10:45 am.

We’ll explore these and other questions:

Why is social justice essential to our faith in God and our following of Jesus?

How is it different from activism?

Why is the Church (us) essentially a community?

Why are people called to respond to human need in different ways?

What does love have to do with it?

Come, try on new lenses through which to understand some familiar human stories about experiencing greater satisfaction, joy and peace in our lives.

Bring a friend!

The classes will be led by Barbara DiTommaso, a member of our parish. She was the executive director

of the Diocesan Commission on Peace and Justice for 34 years. Please contact Barbara with any questions at: [email protected]

Thanks to all of our Christmas Elves

who helped with the project for our home bound and nursing home residents. A special thanks to students

in our Pre-school, Faith Formation and Youth Ministry Programs for coloring cards and decorating gift

bags. Thanks to all who filled the bags and all those who delivered them. Thanks to all of the staff and

volunteers for helping with the project. You are the hands and feet of Christ. May your Christmas be

especially blessed. You have warmed the hearts of so many. Sister Eleanor

YOU CAN HELP END HUNGER!

(And give a gift to someone on your Christmas shopping list)

While many people look forward to sharing holiday meals with family and friends, those who are struggling never know if there will be enough to feed themselves

and their family day in and day out.

Please consider a St. Vincent’s Food Pantry Donation when doing your Christmas gift shopping. Your donation will truly make

difference. For each $10 dollars you donate, we can purchase $100 worth of food. In return, you will

receive a St Vincent Food Pantry Christmas card to send to your gift recipient(s).

Social Justice

In November 2018 the Catholic bishops of the United States released a Pastoral Letter Against Racism

called, Open Wide Our Hearts. The letter is a powerful invitation for all the people of God to “face

courageously the vice of racism, . . . reach out generously to the victims of this evil, to assist the

conversion needed in those who still harbor racism, and to begin to change policies and structures that

allow racism to persist.” At usccb.org/racism, you can read the entire letter, get new resources and find ideas

for how we can respond.

Seniors, mark your calendars!

We will be departing for lunch at the Pump Station on Wednesday, January 9th, at 11:00 AM. If you would like to attend, please call Sr. Eleanor at 518-489-5408

by January 7th.

Making Funeral Arrangements in Advance

The death of someone we love is a deeply painful and trying time. Making funeral arrangements when family

members live out of town or have conflicting ideas can add further difficulties.

St. Vincent’s invites you to consider preparing your funeral arrangements in advance. This might mean

selecting readings, music and ministers for the liturgy. These choices can always be adjusted, too, if

circumstances change.

If you are interested in this opportunity, please call or email Elizabeth to set up an appointment at 489-5408 or [email protected].
