Requiem Mass—Sunday, November 6 at 11:10 AM

We will celebrate All Saints’ Sunday with a Requiem High Mass, which means that it is a service not only for the saints that have preceded us but also for you and I, in our daily preparation, to eventually greet them face to face.

We choose to celebrate All Saints’ Day in this fashion because it is our parish’s patronal feast day.

This year we use Dr. Neil Harmon’s Requiem. Harmon published this work in 2014. Due to it being only two years old, relatively few people have had the opportunity to hear the entire work, if at all. It is safe to say that even fewer have heard the entire work in the context of a worship service.

The moods of the individual movements of this Requiem range from those of quiet prayer to more urgent characterizations of darkness being conquered by light, to the song of the saints at the table of our Lord found in the Sanctus, all ending with being led to Paradise by the company of angels, where there are living fountains of water and where tears are wiped away.

My prayer is that you will let the sound wash over you. Let it transport you. May there be moments where you catch a glimpse of Jerusalem. May your senses be heightened, knowing that the cloud of witnesses, composed of those that have loved us and helped shape us as Christians, join us this day, in this space and in our hearts.

LIVING GENEROUSLY is our theme for this year’s Annual Giving Campaign. We know that God has blessed All Saints’ as a community this past year and has kept us moving forward in mission and ministry. Your generosity has made all this possible. All that we have as individuals and as a community of believers comes from God. Please prayerfully consider proportional giving when you complete your pledge card in a few weeks. All of us can pledge to ensure that as a community we continue to live out our faith helping one another and those outside our church who hunger for a relationship with Jesus. -Chuck Collier, Senior Warden

Celebrate! Gracious Lord, as we celebrate Nancy’s sixth anniversary with us this month, we are grateful to you for sending Nancy to All Saints’, and we thank you for her ministry to us. We also give you thanks for the healing you have done and are doing in restoring her to fullness of health and function. We

continue to pray that you take away all symptoms of her brain injury and that you give her your peace and comfort. Amen.

We celebrate with the families of Peter Benbow and Megan Trull, daughter of Fred and Jill Trull, upon their marriage which took place on September 24th.

We wish Lillian Welch, Godspeed and blessings as she transitions to her new home in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. May she move forward from this place knowing she is loved and will be missed.
