Hot Dog Drive-In Picnic Lunch
Two Opportunity House employees, Shawna Fee and KatiClark, organized a “drive-in” lunch that was held on Tuesday,May 19, for 95 residents and staff of OpportunityHouse. Residents at the Center Cross group home woke upearly, excited to host a drive-in picnic lunch. With lawn chairs, coats, and masks ready, the festivities began. Staff andresidents from each of the nine group homes decorated theircars and drove residents to pick up their picnic lunch as theywaved to their friends from a safe distance. Shari Schramer, aresident at Center Cross, was the DJ for the event and set upher sound system in the garage. Residents of Center Crosshad the idea of creating special heart shaped notes of support, encouragement, and friendship to include in each lunch. KenSafford, Director of Operations, started off the parade followed
by each of the workshop supervisors: Cheri, Pam, Brooke, Mike, Jazmin, andCrystal. Balloons, decorated cars, horns honking, waves, smiles, and cheers were theperfect ending for this event. Each lunch included a grilled hot dog, baked beans, chips, adrink, a cupcake, and lots of love.
Opportunity House offers programs andservices to adults with intellectual anddevelopmental disabilities that help themlead full and abundant lives.
