Welcome Race Fans

On behalf of General Motors, Chevrolet and Cadillac, I’d like to welcome you to Detroit and to Belle Isle for another great weekend of motorsports action. This is one of the most exciting — and important — weekends of the year

around here. The weekend of racing at Belle Isle generates millions of dollars in positive economic impact for the Metro Detroit area. And the venue keeps getting better and better. Last year marked Belle Isle’s first year as a Michigan State Park, and the improvements are plentiful. The race track has improved, too. After we created a new track layout in 2013, with extended straightaways and additional passing zones, more than half of the 2.3-mile street circuit was repaved last fall. It’s a circuit that truly tests the skills of the world’s best drivers. What a weekend it will be, with eight highly-competitive races, including the Verizon IndyCar Series doubleheader: the Chevrolet Dual in Detroit presented by Quicken Loans. The unified sports car series, the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship, along with the Pirelli World Challenge Series and the SPEED Energy Formula Off-Road presented by Traxxas Series, will also be in action this weekend. The eight races over the weekend at the Chevrolet Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix, May 29 – May 31 include:n Chevrolet Dual in Detroit presented by Quicken Loans

(Verizon IndyCar Series)n Chevrolet Sports Car Classic presented by the Metro Detroit

Chevy Dealers (TUDOR United SportsCar Championship)n Cadillac V-Series Challenge presented by the Metro Detroit

Cadillac Dealers (Pirelli World Challenge Series)n SPEED Energy Formula Off-Road presented by Traxxas races I can’t think of anywhere else I’d rather be and I’m glad that you feel the same way. Thank you for joining us and I hope you have a great time.

Sincerely,

Mark L. ReussExecutive Vice President, GM Global Product Development

Chevrolet and Honda are the two engine manufacturers that compete in the 2015 Verizon IndyCar Series, which will feature distinctive new chassis aerokit designs for the first time this season, unique to each manufacturer. To learn more, visit www.indycar.com.

TUDOR United SportsCar Championship (IMSA)The TUDOR United SportsCar Championship made its debut in 2014 as the result of a merger between the GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series and the American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patrón. The Chevrolet Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix will include the P, PC and GTD classes. The P class features prototype race cars powered by manufacturers such as Chevrolet, Ford, Honda and Mazda, while GTD is home to machinery such as the Audi R8, BMW Z4, Ferrari 458, Porsche 911 and Dodge Viper SRT. Every car in the PC class is an open cockpit ORECA FLM09 chassis powered by a Chevrolet V8 engine. The 12-race 2015 TUDOR Championship schedule is highlighted by endurance races such as the season-opening Rolex 24 (Hours) At Daytona, the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring Fueled by Fresh from Florida and the 1,000-mile or 10-hour Petit Le Mans Powered by Mazda at Road Atlanta. SPEED Energy Formula Off-Road presented by TRAXXAS (Stadium SUPER Trucks) SPEED Energy Formula Off-Road Presented by TRAXXAS features identically prepared high-horsepower trucks made to resemble their scaled-down Traxxas radio-control-car counterparts. Like their Traxxas namesake the trucks are designed to take flight. However, unlike RC trucks, they produce 600 horsepower generating speeds upwards of 130 miles per hour. Races feature man-made ramps set up in strategic locations throughout each course, which allow the trucks to fly through the air nearly 20 feet off the ground and hundreds of feet down course. The versatile off-road trucks race on virtually any surface and have been featured at INDYCAR race venues, X Games Austin and other large events that expose the great sport of off-road racing to the masses. The series will compete with three races over the course of the weekend on Belle Isle in 2015. To learn more, visit stadiumsupertrucks.com.
