THALES OF MILETUS 1.-- Which was it the explanation that Tales of Miletus toward about the natural phenomena? Thales is the first recorded individual who refused to accept supernatural or mystical explanations for natural phenomena, positing that every event has a natural cause. He was also the first to define general principles and set forth hypotheses, and as a result has been dubbed the "Father of Science". 2.- Where was born Tales of Miletus? He was born in the city of Miletus . Miletus was an ancient Greek,Asia Minor 3.- What prediction did he make Thales of Miletos? Thales once predicted a solar eclipse which has been determined by modern methods to have been on May 28, 585 BC. 4.- What activities developed , Thales of miletos? Thales involved himself in many activities, taking the role of an innovator. Some say that he left no writings, others that he wrote "On the Solstice" and "On the Equinox". Neither have survived. 5.- What business organized Thales of Miletus? he was involved in business and politics. One story recounts that he bought all the olive presses in Miletus after predicting the weather and a good harvest for a particular year.He wanted to demonstrate that it could use their intelligence to get rich. 6.- Why do you reason the water the principle of the things it was? Because : the earth rests on the water like an island; the humidity is in the nutrition of all the things, perhaps due to an observation of the banks of the Nile and how in these the life grew after this lowered its bed; the heat is generated by the humidity and conserved by her; the seeds of all the things are humid, and the water is the origin of the nature of the humid things. 7.- What knowledge contributed in the geometry ? Thales was known for his innovative use of geometry. His understanding was theoretical as well as practical. For example, he said: ”Space is the greatest thing, as it contains all things” Thales used geometry to solve problems such as calculating the height of pyramids and the distance of ships from the shore.
