A Message from The Principal Term 4 Week 9 13th December 2017

As the school year comes to a close, our hearts are filled to the brim! It has been a wonderful year. Together we have learnt so much and shared experiences that will long remain with us in years to come. Special thanks to parents who have contributed in small, large and unimaginable ways! The partnership between home and school is important and we thank you for journeying with us. I would also like to thank our hard working and caring staff members who have made a huge difference in the lives of students this year. What an amazing team you have been. As we plan for 2018, we are thankful for the positive and invigorated staff who are joining us and for those who have committed to remaining in Gove. I am overwhelmingly impressed with the experience and diversity that make up the team for next year. Lastly, it has been a privilege to serve families and teach children and teenagers who radiate God’s love. What a joy this is every single day! Nhulunbuy Christian College truly is a special place. To those of you who are leaving us for new places, please know that you will continue to be in our prayers. For families staying, I look forward to seeing you in January for another fabulous year. May everyone rejoice with family together this Christmas! Many blessings, Lara Hvala NCC Principal

Year 6 Graduation Term 4 Week 9 13th December 2017

Nhulunbuy Christian College held a graduation for its Year 6 students on Monday 27th November. In a ceremony in front of the Principal, teachers, friends and their proud parents, they were praised for their individual achievements and effort throughout the year and received their awards. It has been lovely to see our Year 6 students dressed formally, coming out the front to receive their Medals and Bibles. Thank you to all parents and friends who assisted with this special ceremony and provided snacks for our graduation buffet.

A Letter to the Year 6 Students Term 4 Week 9 13th December 2017

My dear Year 6 students, First of all, congratulations on completing your Primary School Education! I have been impressed with your determination, drive and hard work you have demonstrated these past two semesters! Monday 27th of November 2017 was a day to remember for all of you! It was a festival; it was a celebration. All eyes were on you. And now, it’s over…..and you have to face the uncertainty of Middle School. You might not know anyone in your new school or you may be lucky to have some of your friends from Primary School in Year 7. ‘’Why does it have to change?’’, is the battle cry from most of you. This is life my dear Year 6 students. Change, although scary, is good. Change is when you learn something new. Change is what is going to make you an awesome adult. Don’t let your feelings of uncertainty stop you from going head first into new endeavours. Feeling a little unsure id perfectly okay. You have not lost anything and nothing has come to an end; just a natural evolution. All your friendships and memories from Primary School are yours. Next year you will just add to your collection. I wish you all the best in your future adventures. Know that our Lord loves you and He has a special order for each one of you! Love and blessings, Your proud teacher, Aourora Tolko

‘OLIVER’ – The Musical was conducted by students at NCC from Years 4-10; who presented an adaptation of the story of ‘Oliver’ with great enthusiasm and obvious talent. After months of workshops and rehearsals the students presented this story utilising their dramatic acting, singing and dancing skills. The characters came alive as the students modeled them and developed their own interpretation of their roles. Well done to everyone for the tremendous shown in making this musical such a success. THAT’S A WRAP FROM OUR MUSICAL DIRECTOR – MR DON SAMS!

I have recently come back from a trip of a lifetime in India, with teens that carry a faith and love for Jesus that is truly inspiring!! I met some of the most affectionate and loving people, who, despite what they had been through, continue to praise God wholeheartedly!! The people we visited in India have the biggest smiles and even bigger hearts, and I feel so humbled to have been able experience both their love for Jesus and the people around them. They are truly an inspiration! I cannot begin to explain how or how much this trip has touched my heart, and has helped me grow in both character, and faith in God! I have definitely left a peice of my heart in India, and have come home with a whole new world veiw and perspective on life, along with more faith in Jesus!! Once again, I was reminded how truly blessed we are to not only live in this amazing country, but go to a school that praises Jesus, and live in a safe and healthy environment. We really do take these things for granted. So, If there's anything I want you to get out of this message, its that you are blessed beyond comprehension and loved more than you will ever know, by a God who is mightier than you could ever imagine. So? What did we do?

• Planted banana trees - released fish into a lake to help make the community self sustainable - visited schools and orphanages - went to lots of different churches - visited some tourist attractions

• And while we were at it, ate the best curry and Chai tea I will ever have!

Year 5 Science

Term 4 Week 9 13th December 2017

Team work = Success

Last term, the Year 5 students were given the opportunity to participate in the NT science competition. They learnt how to conduct their own experiments and investigations, as well as how to present their research findings. The students explored different scientific concepts such as: how mechanical energy is transformed into electrical energy, gravitational force and effects of pollution. Hard work pays off… We are delighted to share the good news that the students bagged several awards and prizes from the competition. This is a testament that great things come from hard work and perseverance.
