Welcome to the 8th ISNVH Congress!NVH solutions for energy-efficient lightweight vehicles - an interdisciplinary approach presented by leading international experts.
Developing „NVH solutions for energy-efficient, lightweight vehicles” – driven by this challenge, international experts in the field of noise, vibration & harshness (NVH) will meet for the 8th International Styrian Noise, Vibration & Harshness Congress in Graz, Austria, from 02-04 July 2014.
Within a consortium comprising Graz University of Technology, AVL and MAGNA STEYR, research and development in the field of vibrations and acoustics started in 1999 with the founding of the Acoustic Competence Centre (ACC), which was headed by Prof. Josef Affenzeller and Prof. Hans-Herwig Priebsch. In 2008, the ACC was integrated into the VIRTUAL VEHICLE Research Center as Area C “NVH & Friction,” where researchers have continued to build upon the solid foundation first established by the ACC.
The VIRTUAL VEHICLE Research Center is now organizing this renowned congress for the 8th time in cooperation with its industrial partners AVL and MAGNA STEYR, as well as the International Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE). During the last decade, the ISNVH congress has evolved into the premier European NVH event dedicated to mobility.
We cordially invite you to participate in this international exchange of engineers and specialists from industry, research centers and universities all around the world!
You can find all relevant information about the ISNVH Congress and how you can take part in this important event on our homepage.
We hope to see you in Graz from 02-04 July 2014!

NNVH solutions for energy-efficient lightweight vehiclesFor the achievement of further energy efficiency automoti-ve industry chiefly relies on lightweight design and alterna-tive propulsion systems, resulting in dramatically changing vehicle concepts and architectures. This new scenario poses overwhelming challenges for the NVH engineers, who are suddenly expected to reach the same levels of comfort and brand sound signature as previously obtained with conven-tional vehicle structures. This complex task is hampered by the fact that the state-of-the-art tools only partially fulfill the needs with regard to the efficient modelling and reliable simulation of vehicle structures made of a mix of light-weight metal alloys and composites.
The numerical optimisation of lightweight vehicles with alternative propulsion systems in the acoustical frequency range is consequently still a challenge. The ISNVH con-ference is a unique platform for discussion and exchange of ideas with regard to these issues and further relevant subjects in the field of automotive NVH.
ISNVH brings together engineers and specialists from industry, research centers and universities all around the world, to discuss the latest technological innovations and recent achievements in vehicle NVH.
Sessions• Downsizing, Cylinder cut-off and NVH• Interior Noise and TPA• Flow Induced Interior Noise (Wind Noise)• NVH of TC and Gas Exchange Systems• Vehicle Comfort• NVH and Hybrid/Electric Drives • Pass-by and exterior noise measurement/ simulation/reduction• Sound absorption and insulation• Powertrain Noise and Friction• Marie-Curie Session (GRESIMO, eLiQuiD, batwoman)
Workshops
• Lightweight design & NVH • Friction and NVH: impact under various conditions and its linkage to noise and energy dissipation • Challenges automotive fluid-structure-acoustics interaction • Simulation of engine acoustics
Sessions and workshops will be complemented by a technical exhibition presenting the latest simulation and experimental technologies.
