2018The Rheumatology Board Review and ClinicalUpdate course has been offered since 1992.This three-day course presents major clinicaltopics in the field of Rheumatology to assistphysicians preparing for the American Boardof Internal Medicine (ABIM) SubspecialtyExamination in Rheumatology. Traineespreparing for their initial board exam — aswell as rheumatologists who are candidatesfor ABIM recertification — are the targetaudience. The diagnosis and management of difficult and unusual clinical problems willbe emphasized; an overview of importantadvances related to clinical rheumatology will also be included. Nineteen lectures bydistinguished clinician-professors will besupplemented by a detailed syllabus toemphasize the issues frequently covered byqualifying examinations, as well as a reviewof clinical and therapeutic updates. Thiscourse is presented by the Division ofRheumatology, Department of Medicine, and is sponsored by the University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine.

OBJECTIVESAn attendee completing this course will be able to:• Follow appropriate standards of care when treating adult and pediatric patients with rheumatic diseases(including rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupuserythematosus, other systemic autoimmunediseases, auto inflammatory diseases, seronegativearthritis, osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, crystallinearthritis, back pain, fibromyalgia, and soft tissue painsyndromes);

• Make more accurate diagnoses based on the bestavailable data and expert guidance;

• Monitor the efficacy and safety of rheumatic disease treatments;

• Utilize newly approved treatments appropriately based on the latest medical evidence.
