SHOT 1The long shot at a canted angle connotes the unlucky evening the protagonists are going to have. Most independents start off by using a long shot to show the audience the wide arrange of things that will be going on but mainly to show what the film will be based on. This is similar with ours as we use a long shot of Ethan so that the audience get the first impression of him being working class and unsophisticated due to his age. Like in this shot with ours both use long shots to distance the characters from audience due to them not being the same and that something drastic will happen in their lives.

SHOT 2This close up of the man with the use of the swirling camera connotes chaos and discomfort as it is discomforting for the audience to be put in such a situation. This can be evident with our production as we also use close ups to show the emotions of our protagonist and how it shows his sadness but also his determination to move on and keep going. The movement could be associated with our pan at the start and how this connotes his disconnection from society and how he isn’t noticed by them as he is mainly seen as a danger or pest.

SHOT 3This shot uses just ambient lighting in it as it takes up nearly all of the shot. This could connote that everything that has happened should be forgotten. This is similar to our production as we use close ups and flashbacks to show how he doesn’t like his life and isn’t accepted by other people, leading him to want to start over and begin a new life. Just like the people in ‘Irreversible’ will be doing
