The track is called ‘The Fear’ and the artist sings about being taken over by it. Lily Allen sings about the fear of being materialistic and how it can take over peoples lives by becoming spoilt. As there is some swearing in the song, we get a sense that artist is passionate about what she is singing about and that materialistic things that can turn people spoilt and angry.

The artist talks about realism and the video embodies that she is in a dream like state, the lyrics ‘I don't know what's right and what's real anymore’.

The video has some abstract elements, the presents that are overly large come alive and starting dancing, giving a sense of not knowing ‘what's real’.

The opening clip starts off with the artist in a caravan, this contrasts to the lyrics about her wanting money and diamonds, but when she is transported into the world she desires, she is confused by it.

The lyrics are clear in the music video, which is common in all the artists (Kate Nash and Lenka) The way that she talks as a song, making the lyrics and what she is singing about in some ways more important than the tune itself.

The pace of the editing is medium, the artist walks to the beat as she descends the stairs at the end of the video.

Lily Allen has created a positive image of herself and the video highlights the shallowness of society and that although she is part of the celebrity world, she has not been sucked into being materialistic.

This makes the artist appear down to earth and relatable. The song contrasts to the mansion and what she is singing about is

shallow and unnecessary. There are many close ups of the artist, wearing a simple dress and

make up and singing into the camera.

The artist portrays the opposite to revealing her body to promote her image, in fact she sings – ‘everything is cool as long as I’m getting thinner.’ She is actually mocking what people do to get famous and is not degrading herself to wearing revealing clothes to do this.

She is looking into a mirror which shows a reflection of her feelings. People that have money normally are vain and this is portrayed in voyeurism.

This has references to money, exploring the themes of how to get famous and how someone who has both of these would think. Lily shows the fear of losing your mind when money and power take over. This is a strong theme and the idea of losing your mind, is portrayed by the abstract video, such as, the dancing presents.

The music video has the concept of materialism and how money can take over peoples minds – ‘what's right and what's real’. This can take over their beliefs and morals. –I want lots of money, and loads of diamonds, I hear people die, trying to find them’.

Lily performs the song in the video, but there is no performance such as, dance included.

The video does not tell a story, but shows the concept of what can happen to peoples morals and minds with the power of money.
