Context: Many young people choose to express their individuality through the clothes they wear and the accessories they use. Alternative, off beat, unusual, out of the ordinary, crazy style fashion, the “in thing”, the rage, a new trend and hip are all words that inspire our nations up and coming fashion designers. Design brief: Current trend forecast show that the Japanese street style is set to influence fashion in the near future. This trend lends itself to the creation of garments which make use of recycled textiles products, materials and components. You have been commissioned by a popular High Street store to design a fashion garment which reflects this. Aim:

To identify current fashion trends on sale in High Street shops used by my target market

Introduction:

The main markets a fashion designer will design for are High Street shops for example Top Shop, Punky Fish , River Island , I’m hoping to find out about different patterns and colours to inspire my design for my final product.im hoping to find out what is current selling in these high street shops so I can make a product that will be fashionable and will be a successful garment.

My research:

In my research I have discovered in London high street shops such as Topshop there is not really a lot for Japanese street style so I had to pick dresses to make a garment that would be perfect for my target audience. You can combine features from all the dresses I have researched and have the perfect parts from each dress such as lace with a cartoon character at the bottom with polka dots on the sleeves. Japanese street style dresses are very outstanding. There normally big and puffy with bright colours and funky patterns such as animals..and big bold bows

Yumi dress

This dress is from the london shop yumi. Its style features are buttons and some frill near the bust.the main colours on this garment is pink and white .The pattern on this garment is polka dots with russian dolls at the bottom of the dress.this yumi dress costs £30.00

Yumi dress

This dress is also from the London shop yumi. Its style features is lace on the top quarter of the dress. The only colours on this dress are white and black. The pattern on this dress is a cartoon cat at the bottom and stripes at the cuffs and the bottom. This dress is also £30.00

Punky Fish dress

This Punky fish dress is £35.00 and its style features are pockets with black buttons also no sleeves more like a vest top half. The only colour on this dress is white and black. The pattern on this dress is lacy all the way round.

Top shop

This top shop dress is £65.00 and it is black and white with a massive bow on the top half. It is a slim fit and has detachable straps. It’s very simple but the big bow is very effective.

Why my theme inspires me?

My theme inspires me because it has many different types of Japanese street styles on but it also has shops that I can find dresses with parts that I would like to use for my own dress. I intend to use this information on this page to help me decide what features I would like to choose and what colours and features go well together on the dress also help me to pick suitable colours and features for my target audience and be able to use them in the right way and in the best way.
