teflon® Fabric Protector: Value, Performance and Sustainability
Teflon® finishes deliver unique value that cannot be achieved with other technologies. The ability to repel stains, soil, oil and water is unparalleled in the market place. Teflon® fabric protector is engineered to keep apparel, home and contract textiles beautiful, longer. And now, thanks to new short-chain technology, Teflon® finishes are kinder to the environment* and still deliver superior performance.
For consumers, fabrics with Teflon® fabric protector can mean less washing and lower wash and dry temperatures, less energy, less wear and tear and that can mean less impact on the planet.**
DuPont™ Capstone®: Leading a Changing industry DuPont is leading the textile industry move to short-chain durable
repellent and release products with the global introduction of a new range of textile repellent and release finishes under the Capstone® brand name. These new products are supported by extensive environmental, health and safety testing. Capstone® repellent and release products are proven performers in the marketplace.
In 2009, DuPont began introducing Capstone® repellent and release products. Fabric finishes may be branded Teflon® fabric protector once they meet specified performance levels. DuPont has converted a significant portion of its textile finishes to short-chain technology and continues to work to transition the remaining historic product line to Capstone® repellents and stain release products.
Capstone® finishes offer the same superior performance capabilities as their predecessors. Among their benefits:• Superior oil and water repellency with high durability• Improved cleanability• Will not change the look, quality, hand or color of textiles• Created to have a smaller environmental footprint*
the Supply ChainDuPont™ Teflon® fabric protector

the time for Change is nowNow is the time for everyone—mills and finishers, apparel
brands and retailers—to make the move to short-chain products such as DuPont™ Capstone® repellent and release products. Customers who have transitioned to new short-chain products have achieved the durable water and oil repellence and release performance they require.
Brands and retailers Forward-thinking brands and retailers have restricted substances
lists and are proactively demanding the best available and most environmentally friendly technologies, including short-chain repellents and release finishes. Because they are writing this requirement into their specs, it is imperative that everyone along the supply chain converts now. By specifying Capstone® repellent and stain release technology, brand houses and retailers are well-positioned for the future to achieve success toward their sustainability goals.
DuPont Commitment to SustainabilityDuPont recently joined the Sustainable Apparel Coalition, an
industry group comprised of the brand houses, retailers and material suppliers throughout the apparel supply chain. DuPont is committed to achieving the goal of the Coalition to lead the global apparel industry to more sustainable business practices and apparel products.
‘My Life History’: What’s new for 2011DuPont “My Life History” global marketing campaign, that
launched in 2009 to showcase the performance benefits of Teflon® fabric protector, is featuring many co-brand partners such as Sears Craftsman® apparel; Allegri, (an upscale Italian outerwear brand); Maier Sports; Authentic Little League Brand baseball pants and Utility Pro® workwear.
In program elements, Teflon® fabric protector conveys its performance message with its co-branded partners. The Allegri co-brand ad features the “life history” of a jacket that has
endured the rigors of “180 trips on the scooter, 3 sporting events, 15 commutes,” and other events.
The new campaign has been well-received globally by DuPont customers and they want to participate. For more information, visit Teflon.com/mlh. l
