Text in Credits of Different Film Genres

By Natasha and Lara

Sinister - Horror• The font looks at though the

writing has been scratched into the floor with potentially a knife reflecting the horror genre• The random capitalisation

suggests that a child or other infantile being may have written it• The fact it has hanging people in

the background shows its horror

Austin Powers: The Spy who Shagged me - Comedy

• The font is bubble writing and throughout the credits, the colour of the credits change showing immaturity• The font is strategically placed in

front of him so attention is drawn to it and where it is placed shows the sense of comedy

Toy Story – Family Film• This shows an iconic movie title

with simple primary colours to show it is a film for children• The large block letters are clear

and easy to read and they stand out to the audience• The red box on the bottom could

represent a toy box and the “TOY” could show the toys coming out of the box

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo – Crime

• The text of “with the” is small to bring to attention to the rest• The font is of a Japanese style

and the metallic of the font gives the impression of a sword.• The colours are very neutral and

this shows it may be quite a dark film

Star Wars – Sci-Fi• It is very plain but the yellow

contrasts against the starry background showing it could have a science-fiction genre• The reversing of the credits once

they have been read could represent a spaceship moving

The Watchmen - Action• It has a comic font with the

superheroes in the background• The writing is a plain block font;

however, it is the sort of font you will find in a comic• The credits move with the scene

such as a plane flying to show action

Prometheus - Thriller• The text fills up with colour like

an energy source• The background also shows

history moving through time• The letters kept flashing up then

disappearing to give a creepy effect and the letters look as though they are from the future• The colours are all black and

white to show its very dark

The Fault in our Stars – Romance/Drama

• It is animated and the writing looks like handwriting as if she has written it in a diary• It looks like it’s going to be quite

happy as there are lots of children’s drawings around it and the writing in simple on a chalkboard as if they are back in school again
