To commemorate this special occasion Wayne Enterprises has commissioned our firm to create a likeness of “The Duke” using type only. The image, which will be converted into poster form, will accompany a limited edition box set containing six of the icons most famous westerns. Proceeds from the sale of the items will be donated to the John Wayne Cancer Institute. John Wayne is one of, if not the most, recognizable actors from the 20 th century. He has a devout following, and as such the image must be instantly recognizable. The text to be used in this project (included in the memo along with the image to be used) is very important and must remain as legible as possible. Tone: This project should have an emotional pull to it as the proceeds are going to a very worthwhile organization. The image will be done in grey scale. The viewer should be able to recognize the subject and be compelled to read the text that makes up the image. Media: As stated before the image will be converted into a poster. Creative Considerations: The product will only be available in the United States. No foreign language considerations it will only be available in English. CONFIDENTIAL

Re: John Wayne Text Project

May 26, 2012 marks the 105th birthday of Marion Mitchell Morrison, better known as John Wayne.

John Wayne is one of, if not the most, recognizable actors from the 20th century.

“Courage is being scared to death, but saddling up anyway.” ― John Wayne “Tomorrow is the most important thing in life. Comes into us at midnight very clean. It's perfect when it arrives and it puts itself in our hands. It hopes we've learned something from yesterday.” ― John Wayne “A man deserves a second chance, but keep an eye on him.” ― John Wayne “Talk low, Talk slow, and Don't say too much.” ― John Wayne “I've always followed my father's advice: he told me, first to always keep my word and, second, to never insult anybody unintentionally. If I insult you, you can be goddamn sure I intend to. And, third, he told me not to go around looking for trouble. ” ― John Wayne “You're short on ears and long on mouth.” ― John Wayne “I'd like to know why well-educated idiots keep apologizing for lazy and complaining people who think the world owes them a living.” ― John Wayne “Never apologize, mister, it’s a sign of weakness.” ― John Wayne “My hope and prayer is that everyone know and love our country for what she really is and what she stands for.” ― John Wayne “All battles are fought by scared men who'd rather be some place else.” ― John Wayne “A man's got to do what a man's got to do.” ― John Wayne “We’re burnin’ daylight.” ― John Wayne “It's getting to be ri-goddamn-diculous.” ― John Wayne “I won't be wronged. I won't be insulted. I won't be laid a-hand on. I don't do these things to other people, and I require the same from them.” ― John Wayne “Thanking people is dangerous business. A name always slips your mind.”

― John Wayne “Life is tough pilgrim, it is even tougher if you're stupid” ― John Wayne “COWBOYS, just like the word says.” ― John Wayne “Fill your hands, you sons-of-bitches!” “Mister, you need to find another line of work, cause this one sure don’t fit your pistol.” "Sorry don't get it done, Dude." "Out here a man settles his own problems." "Republic. I like the sound of the word." "Yup. The end of a way of life. Too bad. It's a good way. Wagons forward! Yo!" "Every time you turn around expect to see me. 'Cause one time you'll turn around and I'll be there, and I'll kill you, Matt." "I don't guess people's hearts got anything to do with a calendar." "Well, there are some things a man just can't run away from." Hey Pilgrim, you forgot your pop-gun Young fella, if you're lookin' for trouble I'll accommodate ya You can call me Father, you can call me Jacob, you can call me Jake. You can call me a dirty son-of-a-bitch, but if you EVER call me Daddy again, I'll finish this fight. And now *you* understand. Anything goes wrong, anything at all... your fault, my fault, nobody's fault... it won't matter - I'm gonna blow your head off. No matter what else happens, no matter who gets killed I'm gonna blow your head off. No, You made up your mind and you made your decision alone, you live it alone "I haven't lost my temper in 40 years; but, Pilgrim, you caused a lot of trouble this morning; might have got somebody killed; and somebody oughta belt you in the mouth. But I won't. I won't. The hell I won't!" "I'm looking at a tin star with a ... DRUNK pinned on it." I've got a touch of hangover, bureaucrat. Don't push me. Don't say it's a fine morning or I'll shoot ya!
