TEXT ANIMATION

To create this text animation I used After Effects as it has the effects and features that I needed to create the jittery text animation. I then created three compositions called ‘Main’, ‘Displacement Map’ and ‘Text’. I then added the Main composition to my timeline and added the others to this composition.

Firstly, I added a solid layer to the

displacement map

composition and applied the fractal

noise effect.

I changed the setting

slightly for the effect so that

the fractal type was

‘Dynamic’ and increased the

brightness and contrast.

Then I clicked on ‘Random

Seed’ and set the time to

*10 as I found this to be the right amount for the jittery effect that I

wanted.

In the text composition I used the text tool to type out the text that I wanted to have in my video. I changed the font and sizes to match those

which I have used before in my music video so create continuity.

I then changed the

displacement map layer to

the displacement map and it to

Luminance and 3.0 for max

displacement so that the text

would move slightly less as I only wanted a subtle effect.

Next, I added a

‘Displacement Map’ effect to the text layer in the main

composition.

Lastly, I turned off the visibility

for the displacement map layer so that the text

and black background were visible.
