Texsteam® SolarLite® C1D2 Solar Chemical Injection Pump
Product Information GE Oil & Gas’ Texsteam SolarLite C1D2 solar chemical injec-tion pump is designed for hazardous locations with its Class 1 Division 2 Groups C & D certification. As the pump is solar powered, it is ideal for remote locations where there are no power grids and for companies with “green” initiatives.
Features GE Oil & Gas’ Texsteam SolarLite C1D2 solar chemical injec-tion pump is capable of discharge pressures up to 5,000 psi (344 bar) and flow rates up to 368 quarts/day (348 liters/day). The pump heads are 316 stainless steel and come in four sizes—3/16”, 1/4”, 3/8” and 1/2”. There are close to 50 possi-ble combinations of packing and o-ring materials to allow tailoring of the pump to meet one’s specific pumping re-quirements. The easy-to-use flow setting knob offers quick set-up and adjustability. Simply turning the knob to the right increases the flow rate while turning the knob to the left decreases the flow rate. There are no dip switches or complex timing pro-grams to figure out. The high efficient Texsteam SolarLite C1D2 brushless motor uses less batteries and watts than a standard solar pump when operating at high pressures and flows. At 100 quarts per day and 500 psi, the SolarLite C1D2 solar chemical injec-tion pump will use 1 less battery and 50 less watts (1 solar panel) than the leading competitor. In comparison to a pneumatic pump, the results are more dramatic. The Tex-steam SolarLite C1D2 solar pump saves over 3.6 million cu-bic feet of gas per year!
Application Area The GE Oil & Gas’ Texsteam SolarLite C1D2 solar chemical injection pump is highly recommended for use in Oil & Gas production and pipelines. The pump is also recommended for industrial and chemical applications. The pump is excel-lent for the injection of chemicals to prevent corrosion, scale and paraffin. Due to the pump’s continuous operation, it is ideal for the injection of H2S scavenger to reduce/eliminate the toxic H2S found in natural gas. The Texsteam SolarLite C1D2 solar chemical injection pump can be used for the in-jection of methanol, defoamers, anti-foamers, emulsifiers, de-emulsifiers and detergents.

General Maintenance
To insure the quality of Texsteam SolarLite C1D2 solar chemical injection pump, consult a Texsteam service dealer or sales person regarding functionality, operating procedures, warranty and service pertaining to pump. All solar units are serialized assemblies. It is strongly advised that all assemblies remain a complete or unbroken serial-ized set for proper functionality. Please record applicable serial numbers for any service, repair or replacement parts.
Serial Number = 11 digit number on the inside of the battery enclosure: _ _ _ _ _ _ - _ _ - _ _ _ Please provide serial number information for any Warranty work and the RMA Procedure.
Minimum once a month Inspect seals, gaskets, threads and plunger for wear or damage. Replace or repair as necessary. Apply a small amount of grease to the cam bearing and to the crosshead areas that cycle through the linear bearings. If
the pump will be operated in an environment below—20 F, consult a Texsteam pump service dealer or sales person. Check for corrosion on the drive shaft and on the crosshead near the bearings. Corrosion in and around bearings will
cause an increase in motor amperage and decrease the battery backup life. Check for corrosion on the eccentric cam bearing. If you have a housing equipped with an oil sump, add oil to the sump to
the fill line. Use Mobil SHC 630 oil. Do not overfill. If the bearing becomes rusted and/or you cannot add oil to the housing, replace the eccentric cam bearing assembly.
Check the packing. If leakage is observed, stop the pump. Make a small adjustment by turning the gland nut. Restart the pump. (Do not over-tighten the gland nut as this will reduce the packing life and possibly damage the plunger).
Clean the solar panel to remove dust, bird droppings, etc. Use a mild soap solution, warm water and a clean soft towel. Use of any greasy substances or sharp tools may scratch the protective covering on the solar panels.
Packing Adjustment
1. Stop the pump. NEVER ADJUST THE PACKING WITH THE PUMP RUNNING. The packing is under fluid pressure and cannot be adjusted properly if the pump is running.
2. Check the tightness of the gland nut. Particular attention should be given to gland nut tightness. Over tightening can result in excessive loss of electrical power, which decreases battery life and causes excessive packing wear leading to pre-mature packing failure. Proper adjustment is made by tightening the gland nut to finger tight (not hand tight) and then turning the gland nut ¼ turn past the finger tight point.
3. Start the pump and allow it to run for 3-5 minutes. 4. Check for leakage after the run in period. If the above adjustment did not stop the leak, stop the pump and tighten gland
nut 1/8 turn more. If the leak persists, replace the packing.

Packing Replacement
To replace the packing, stop the pump. Using one’s company’s maintenance procedures and safety precautions, isolate the fluid end from the chemical stream, depressurize and drain as necessary. 1. Remove plunger clip. 2. Loosen the jam nut. 3. Unscrew the gland nut. 4. Unscrew head assembly. 5. Remove the plunger. 6. Use a pick to remove the packing. Be careful not to score the ID of the packing area. 7. Install a new packing set; one ring at a time starting with the bottom adapter, flat side towards the fluid end. Be sure not to
change the order of the stack. 8. Make sure each ring is seated before adding the next ring in sequence. 9. Apply a dab of grease to the top adapter hole before inserting the plunger. Insert the plunger about ¼ of its length into the
packing. 10. Apply a small amount of Anti-seize to the head threads near the top of the threads and then screw the fluid end head into
the housing yoke four or five turns. 11. Slide the packing gland over the plunger and into place until it rests on the flat side of the packing top adapter, then place
the gland nut over the plunger and screw the gland nut until it is finger tight. 12. Continue screwing the head assembly into the housing yoke until the plunger end seats itself in the crosshead. Then install
the drive clip. 13. Continue screwing the head assembly into the housing yoke and tighten the jam nut with a wrench. The head is properly
adjusted when the number of threads showing beyond the jam nut is 4-5 threads.
O Ring Replacement
To replace the o ring, stop the pump. Using one’s company’s maintenance procedures and safety precautions, isolate the fluid end from the chemical stream, depressurize and drain as necessary. 1. Remove the suction and discharge piping. 2. Loosen and remove the suction and discharge bushings. 3. Remove check valve. 4. Use a pick to remove the o ring. 5. Press a new o-ring in the groove being careful not to cut the o ring. 6. Clean the ball. 7. Replace the check valve seat into the bushing and reinstall the suction and discharge bushings. 8. Reconnect suction and discharge piping.

Troubleshooting
Pump experiencing a drop in pressure or volume Inspect the suction line for air leaks, clogs and blockages. Ensure the supply is adequate and the supply tank is not empty. Inspect all valves for worn parts. Inspect check valves and clean any foreign debris. Check o rings to ensure no damage caused by pressure. Pump runs, but there is no fluid flow or not reaching the required discharge pressure Check if the head assembly is air blocked and bleed off any air in the system. Inspect check valves and clean any foreign debris. Ensure priming valve is completely shut and not leaking. Ensure plunger clip is in place and not broken. C heck stroke adjustment and ensure plunger movement. Check for leaks around bottom bushing, top bushing and packing. Inspect and clean bottom seat, top seat, balls and valve spring for damage and replace if necessary. Pump stops running, more frequently at especially at night Check battery connections. Ensure all of the batteries are connected correctly—positive to positive, negative to negative. Check charge to batteries. Utilize an amp meter to check current from charge controller to battery. Check if battery is defective. Isolate the battery and check voltage under load. Check fuses. Ensure the connections are correct at the terminal block and that there are jumpers between the positive
connections. Inspect solar panel connections to determine if multiple solar panels (total watts exceeding 130w) are routed to a charge
controller wired in parallel. Maximum of one (1) 85 W, one (1) 125 W or two (2) 50 W panels can be input into a single charge converter.
Ensure the solar panel does not have obstructions to the sun and is facing true south. Check that the solar pump system is sized correctly for the application’s pressure and volume requirements. Texsteam
service dealers or sales person can help with this. Check alignment of pump. Improper alignment of motor to pump will cause additional drag and therefore current Solar pump system is blowing fuses Check for reverse or improper wiring of the battery and solar panel. Check motor connection. Plugging the motor into controller after power has been connected could blow a fuse. Defective motor control circuit. Amperage/ voltage issues. Chemical leakage from fluid end’s packing nut Check to see if the packing nut is tight enough. Check to see if the packing is worn.
