    When you register online, you will have the option to pay by mail with a check or pay online with a

    credit card. If you are paying by check, select “offline / mail” under payment options in the shopping

    cart. You will later see instructions to print the invoice and mail your payment to Knowledge

    Connex. The mailing address will be in the invoice and all payments should be mailed to Knowledge

    Connex.

    Full conference fees include: President’s Reception on Wednesday; breakfast and lunch on Thursday;

    breakfast on Friday; all break services listed in agenda; all conference related materials; continuing

    education units; and access to all conference sessions and exhibits.

    Daily conference fees include: all meals and breaks listed in the agenda for that specific day; all

    conference related materials; continuing education units for the days attended; and access to all

    conference sessions and exhibits on the day(s) indicated.

    Speaker presentations and materials will be available as soon as possible on the TxTRA website.

    Attendees are responsible for printing the presentations if you would like a hard-copy. An email

  • Suhail Sharif, MD, a fellowship-trained surgical oncologist in Tarrant County, will present on surgical management of gastric cancer. Dr. Sharif completed his medical degree at New York Medical College in Vallhalla, New York. He then attended the University of Illinois College of Medicine and Metropolitan Group Hospitals in Chicago, Illinois for his internship and residency in General Surgery followed by Surgical Oncology Fellowship training at The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. We will have an associated presentation on the abstracting, and staging of gastric cancer. Himalaya Lele, MD, a cardiovascular & thoracic surgeon in Tarrant County, will present on surgical management of non-small cell lung cancer. He received his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine. He completed an internship at Boston City Hospital-MSO, fellowship at University of Illinois, College of Medicine, and residency at Boston City Hospital-MSO. We will have an associated presentation on the abstracting, and staging of NSCLC.

    Chad Amosson, MD, a board-certified radiation oncologist at Arlington Cancer Center, will present on radiation oncology. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in genetics and graduated magna cum laude from Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. He earned his medical doctorate from The University of Texas Medical School at Houston. Dr. Amosson also completed his internal medicine preliminary year at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston and his radiation oncology residency at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, where he served as chief resident. Angela Seda, MD, a breast surgeon specializing in breast surgical oncology and surgical diseases of the breast, will present on breast cancer. She graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in cellular and molecular biology from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas. She earned her medical degree at UT Southwestern in Dallas and completed her residency in general surgery at Unity Point Health in Des Moines, Iowa. She then completed a fellowship in breast surgical oncology at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas. She has authored and coauthored articles in peer reviewed journals and continues to publish articles relating to breast cancer. DeEtte Vasques, DO, is a gynecologic oncologist and board Certified in Medical Oncology and Obstetrics and Gynecology. She will present on gynecologic cancer. She completed a fellowship in gynecologic oncology at Wellspan Health/York Hospital in York, Pennsylvania. She completed her medical degree and an internship at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She also completed her residency at Wellspan Health/York Hospital in York, Pennsylvania. Dr. Vasques earned an undergraduate degree at the University of Maryland in College Park, Maryland.

  • TxTRA is pleased to offer the Shelley Jordan Memorial Conference Scholarship in memory of

    longtime TxTRA member Shelley Jordan who lost her life in May of 2014. The purpose of this

    scholarship is to support a TxTRA member with no available funding to attend TxTRA’s Annual

    Educational Conference.

    The topic of this year’s scholarship essay :

    With this year’s conference theme of YOUnity, please answer the following question. “How is

    networking important to you in your career?”

    The scholarship covers the conference registration fee. The recipient may request funding for

    transportation or lodging cost. Total funding will be limited to actual expenses and will not

    exceed $500 including registration and all fees. Receipts must be provided for covered expenses.

    Scholarship recipients are not eligible to apply again for five years.

    Applicants must complete the application form and submit a 500 to 750 word essay on the 2017

    topic. One scholarship recipient will be chosen.

    Eligibility Requirements:

    Applicants must be active TxTRA members in good standing for at least one continuous year

    AND during the year in which the scholarship is awarded. Applicants must not have received

    another TxTRA scholarship in 2017.

    Members of the TxTRA Board of Directors or Education Committee are not eligible.

    Associate, Inactive and Student members are not eligible to apply.

    The scholarship recipient will not be eligible to apply again for five years.

    Committee.Criteria:

    The essay will be scored by TxTRA’s Education Committee using the following criteria:

    Adherence to the topic

    Use of original ideas and/or concepts

    Coherence and completeness (If application information is missing or unclear, no points will

    be awarded in this category.)

    Compliance with the format (see below)

    Additional points may be awarded by the committee, if the applicant has never attended a

    TxTRA Annual Educational Conference.

    TxTRA Ways & Means is working on a great fundraiser for this year’s conference. They

    are looking for donations of handmade items to sell. All proceeds raised will go to

    TxTRA. With all the crafty people we have in TxTRA, we know it will be a success.
