Madison Kate Lockaby, “Madi,” was a wonderful daughter, sister, and one of my truest friends. Her life would be an example of living life to the fullest and enjoying every minute of it. Madi had a heart of gold and always saw the best in people. Not only was Madi a beautiful girl, she was also hard working and dedicated. Madi had a way of never meeting a stranger, singing everywhere she went, and being a true friend to everyone. Everyone who knew Madi knew that she was always ready to have a good time, always had a smile on her face, and a laugh you could hear a mile away. Madi was very well rounded from sports, to singing, to church activities, and of course being loyal to her Angus Family. Because she was so involved in many things, she touched many hearts and set an example on the way life should be lived. So with that being said…

Madi we’ve never had a State Show or Junior Nationals without each other, and I love and I miss you so very much. I know you are here watching over each and every one of us and you will always be an influence in my life.

FRIDAY, JUNE 12…8:00 am - 6:00 pm Shavings available for purchase8:00 am Grounds open for stalling1:00 - 3:30 pm Cattle Check -in…no late entries, no substitutions Inside show ring. Bring original registration papers to check-in. All cattle tattoos will be checked and papers stamped.1:00 - 3:00 pm Contest Sign-up Outside show ring. Sign-up for the individual sales talk, written quiz bowl test and team fitting qualifier. Turn in photographs, posters, writing and graphic design entries at this time.4:00 pm Quiz Bowl Written Test Stands. All participants will meet in the stands to take the quiz bowl written test.4:30 pm Ice Breaker Inside show ring. 5:00 pm Group Photo and Exhibitor Meeting Photo backdrop, followed by stands. All juniors need to wear their TJAA shirts for group photo.6:00 pm Dinner Provided by Angus Friends Cooking Crew.

SATURDAY, JUNE 13…9:00 am Showmanship: Peewee, Junior, Intermediate and Senior divisions. Peewees meet at the announcer’s stand to color your picture after showmanship.11:15 am Individual Sales Talk: Junior, Intermediate and Senior divisions. Bring registration papers and animal to the staging area. Contest will be held in the show ring.NOON Lunch Provided by Thomas Kemp Family.1:30 pm Show begins: Registered Steers, Bred and Owned Bulls, Cow Calf Pairs, Bred and Owned Heifers. 4:30 pm Fitting Qualifier for NJAS Inside show ring. This is for those interested in competing on the NJAS team only. Participants must provide own equipment and animal. 6:00 pm Awards Dinner Upstairs at the Bell County Expo Center. Contest awards, scholarships and other presentations will be presented at the awards dinner. Silent auction will be held at this function.8:30 - 10:30 pm Dance Upstairs.

SUNDAY, JUNE 14…7:40 - 8:00 am Worship Service Upstairs at the Bell County Expo Center.9:00 am Resume Show: Owned heifers. NJAS Showmanship Qualifier starts immediately following the show. Participants must wear a white shirt and black pants for this contest.

2015 TJAA SCHOLARSHIP WINNERSTexas Junior Angus Members Reap the Benefits of Membership through Scholarship

EMILY STOVALL, the 18 year-old daughter of Lorie Stovall of Corsicana, is headed to Texas A&M University in the fall to major in Animal Science. A 4-year member of the TJAA and NJAA, Emily is also involved in FFA, 4-H, and several school organizations. She has served as TJAA Director and is the current Historian. In 2014, Emily’s photo was chosen for the cover of the Texas Angus Association Directory. In

addition to numerous wins in the show ring, Emily has also participated in Quiz Bowl, Photography, Sales Talk, and Creative Writing contests on the state level; she also attended the Raising the Bar conference at Texas Tech and the LEAD conference in Philadelphia. Emily received her Bronze Award in 2014 and the Silver Award in 2015. Emily comments, “I did not grow up learning the cattle business, and I have had to learn fast and work hard to be competitive with other members in the show ring and the TJAA and NJAA contents. When I joined the TJAA, I gained an Angus family and that family is there to help you succeed in life.”

Emily receives a $1,000 scholarship from the Texas Angus Auxiliary, and her application has been submitted to the American Angus Auxiliary Scholarship competition. Emily is also the recipient of the $1,500 Texas Angus Association Scholarship.

EMORY GEYE, Rising Star, was the 2015 recipient of the $5,000 Raymond Moore Endowment Scholarship after his heifer was named Reserve Grand Champion Junior Angus Heifer at the 2015 Fort Worth Stock Show.

STUART LASTOVICA, Salado, took home the Raymond Moore Endowment Scholarship award of $2,500 from Fort Worth for having the second highest placing heifer meeting the scholarship requirements.

Begun in 2011, the Raymond Moore Endowment Scholarship, formerly the Texas Angus Association Endowment Fund Scholarship, will be made available each year at the Fort Worth Junior Angus Heifer Show, to the two highest placing members in good standing with the Texas Junior Angus Association. AMERICAN ANGUS ASSOCIATION® JUNIOR ANGUS PREVIEW SHOW PARTICIPATION STATEMENTThe American Angus Association®, 3201 Frederick Avenue, St. Joseph, Mo., will participate in premiums offered in individual classes for junior Angus heifers, bred and owned heifers, bred and owned bulls, cow/calf pairs and registered Angus steers as included in its standard show classifications, according to the premium schedule based on the num-ber of head shown. The premium assistance provided by the American Angus Association for participation in this show is in addition to the premiums offered by the show itself. The premium assistance should not be used to offset show expense and shall be included in the premium payments distributed by the show to the exhibitors.A minimum of fifteen (15) head must be shown in the junior Angus heifer classes to receive American Angus Association premium participation. The show is not required to have all classes to be eligible for premiums. Separate classes for bred and owned heifers may be held if the size of the show merits a separate class.Only bred and owned bulls may be counted in the numbers report for premium participation. Any female shown with a calf at side: the calf must be the cow’s most recent natural calf, and the calf must be registered by show day and have the original registration certificate at check in.To be eligible for Association premiums the entries must be recorded in the sole name of the junior exhibitor and the issue date on the registration certificate must conform to the individual show’s requirements regarding ownership. The Association’s contribution is included in the total premiums listed in each class. Premiums from the Association are paid only to registered Angus cattle and only if the registration number is a part of the show report provided to the Association. Therefore, all cattle should be registered at the time of entry to make certain they receive the Association’s portion of premiums. The Association does not pay a percentage on premiums offered in championship classes. An animal may only be counted one time toward the total count for premium participation by the Association.Exhibitors must have the original registration certificate on each animal available for inspection at the show. Electronically stored registration certificates are NOT accepted – only the original certificates issued by the American Angus Association. Any animal, upon check-in, which does not have a legible permanent identification mark (ear tattoo marks, freeze-branded marks or hot-branded marks) corresponding to the permanent identification mark on the registration certificate, is ineligible to show. Once disqualified due to an incorrect or illegible permanent identification mark, animals cannot be re-tattooed and rechecked at the show.Only one person at a time shall lead an animal into the show ring. Exhibitors who participate in shows that accept premium monies contributed by the American Angus Associa-tion are subject to the Association Rules as found in the Breeders Reference Guide of the Association. These rules are found in Part 2; Association Rules. The rules relating directly with the exhibition of Angus cattle are Part 2: Association Rules; Rule 800 Series; including Rule 800 - 810. These rules can be found at www.angus.org.Altering the conformation and/or appearance of an animal for exhibition is prohibited. This includes the covering of white skin, false tail heads (or use of any false hair), with the exception of false tail switches. The use of graphite, powders, hemp or other similar substances used externally are also prohibited. Other prohibited products include those used internally such as steroids, illegal or unlicensed pharmaceuticals or artificial filling. Any animal found to be in violation will be barred from showing. At any show for which the American Angus Association appropriates funds toward the payment of premiums, no exhibitors, individuals assisting exhibitors or member owners at such show shall be allowed to use any coloring agents, on any animal exhibited. The Association may adopt and implement various tests designed to monitor this prohibition, including but not limited to a “white towel” or “white glove” test. No aerosol cans or other pressurized containers will be allowed in designated line up areas.All animals exhibited are subject to DNA marker or blood type test to verify accuracy of parentage as covered under the Association Rules and for other testing as required by the individual show.Authorized representatives of the Association have the authority to enforce the rules set forth herein as well as in the Association Rules, including the barring of a registered animal from a livestock show at which it is to be shown, if there are reasonable grounds to believe a violation has occurred.
